Shipwright Cottage is a fully-renovated idyllic getaway located in the Bay Hundred area of the Chesapeake Bay just 8 miles outside of St. Michaels, MD. Bikes and kayaks included!

Shipwright Cottage is a fully-renovated 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house that is a perfect getaway for couples or small families. The open concept main room on the second floor offers an queen-sized bed and reading nook, while the second bedroom has two extra long twin beds that can be combined to make a king. The living room offers an electric fireplace and pull out sofa. The full bath features a luxurious glass shower and water views accent every room. A screened porch offers space to relax and enjoy the views. The cottage is fully equipped with a fabulous kitchen, WiFi, DVD player, washer-dryer, and charcoal grill. Linens and bath towels are included. Two kayaks, Two adult bicycles, one child's bike, and one bike trailer are available for your use.

Shipwright Cottage is located on Cummings Creek, just a short drive to St. Michaels, Tilghman Island, Oxford, and Easton.

This property is a Talbot County licensed short term vacation rental (License #ST-228-HAB).

Great stay

We stayed here for the Ironman in Cambridge. The house was nice renovated and historic. Very cool!

Fantastic 32nd Birthday Getaway!!!

I have celebrated 3 different birthday getaways at Shipwright Cottage and was never disappointed!! Melissa us fantastic! Super responsive and reliable. It's such a beautiful area for a quiet scentic getaway and still in Maryland. I definitely will return again!

Anniversary trip

We spent a long weekend at Shipwright Cottage. You can see the water from almost every window. The home is cozy. My only comment would be that if you plan on cooking be sure to bring your spices etc. But there are plenty of places nearby to eat! We love the Eastern Shore and seeing all the waterfowl. You could hear And see the geese every evening.

Weekend get away

Perfect little cottage in a great location near St. Michael’s. The interior was clean and looked to be newly renovated. We will be back again, for sure.

Girls weekend

Came for a girls weekend to shop, drink wine and relax and found this perfect little property outside of St. Michael's and Tilghman Island. Loved it so much we're planning on coming back next year!

Wittman Waterman Home

What a great place to stay in the fall with our goldendoodle for our anniversary. So cute and charming. Fabulous weather and loved driving to Oxford and returning to St. Michaels on the ferry in 15 minutes. Lots of great eateries and lots of dogs...good for our dog.

Beautifully renovated cottage with water views on both sides

This property is beautifully renovated and has everything you could need. Wake up to water views on a quiet peninsula with views on 2 sides of the cottage. It was great that we could have our 2 small dogs with us. Would definitely come again!

basically we were satisfied, but owner should take "screened porch" out of the listing. there is no screening. It is a cute place, and suited our needs. one suggestion re cleaning: there is mold on the ceiling of the full bath.

Summer on the Bay

The cottage was clean and updated and nicely decorated. We had family staying in cottages nearby so we had access to boats and docks. We did enjoy using the bikes that were available. Overall it was a perfect cottage for our vacation on the Bay.

Cute cottage. Nicely appointed. Enjoyed the bikes and kayaks. Great location if you are looking for a quiet getaway in a lovely setting. Wish there had been a deck on the water we could have used.

Lovely Historic Waterman's House

Lovely historic waterman's house on a private lane with access to the river. We thoroughly enjoyed the bikes & kayaks provided (access to the river is via a neighbor's dock, but close & easy). Kitchen was well-stocked, there are puzzles & games for kids & it felt spacious despite it's smaller size. The air conditioning worked great! We would have enjoyed opening the windows on the cooler nights, but only 1-2 were functional. Host was easy to work with & responsive - great, central location.

Cozy Getaway in Quiet Neighborhood

This cute, cozy cottage was perfect for the two of us and our small dog. It was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the additional amenities (kayaks and bikes) although we didn't have a chance to use them. Internet access was good. Our stay was brief but we noticed that there was not much storage space for clothes in the bedroom or food supplies in the kitchen. During our stay the upstairs bathroom faucet was non-functioning. Our host indicated that she was aware of the problem and that the plumber had been in earlier on the day we arrived. Apparently he needed a part and the repair had not been done. An apology for and recognition of the inconvenience would have been appreciated.

Cute cottage

The Shipwright Cottage was really cute, and probably the cleanest place we've ever stayed, which was a huge bonus for me. The neighborhood was quiet and scenic, although I would've preferred being on the water as opposed to just being able to view from the cottage. I think the listing should reflect that it isn't actually waterfront. We couldn't find the grill, maybe it was in the garage. The screened in porch was nice, but would be better on the other side of the cottage since the view is better on that side. Also, the screen on the door is ripped at the bottom and wasps kept getting onto the porch. The kitchen could use more basics, like salt and pepper. We were surprised those staple spices were absent. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we would likely visit again but maybe be a little more prepared and bring spices and extra towels.

uncomfortable for any indoor time

If you plan to spend all of your time outdoors, on-the-go, this is a nice house. However, if you might want quiet indoor time, look elsewhere. The couch is a sleeper sofa and is terrible for relaxing on. The chairs are all wicker and equally uncomfortable. We went with the intent to relax, play board games, read. Not possible. The master bedroom is fully exposed when you come up the stairs, so having a second couple or friend would be awkward. And lastly, the permissible dock to launch kayaks is sketchy as hell. You walk a narrow plank along side a building and then have to step over/around a huge rusted metal rope. I was so focused on not cutting myself on it, I stumbled and got splinters instead.

Really enjoyed our stay

My kids and I really enjoyed our recent stay. The cottage is lovely, perfect really. The garage has kayaks and bikes, and we used both. Would definitely return to stay again.

St. Michaels visit

We Greatly enjoyed out stay at St. Michaels. It was a very quiet neighborhood. We where there during off season so limited people around. The sky at night was very dark and great for star gazing. We would walk our dog thru the neighborhood and people where very friendly. You could see the water from all angles of the house. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. We really had no need to contact the owner. I would definitely stay here again.
