I’ve stayed at vacation rentals around all around the world, and this place is hands down the best of them all. The description is accurate, however, they don’t tell you everything. The kitchen is not equipped with stuff from the local Goodwill. The pots and pans are very good quality. Blender, crock pot(s), rice cooker. I usually have to buy something I need in the kitchen and leave behind when I leave these places. Not here. I couldn’t come up with anything I needed that wasn’t already there. And I’m a bit of a foodie in the kitchen.
If you’re looking for a place a bit off the beaten path, this is it. No raucous neighbors. Stellar view. Peaceful. Yet convenient. Hilo and all it’s conveniences is less than half an hour away. But a mini mart decently supplied with the basics is less than 15 minutes away. Be sure to stop in Honomu to get some jam. I had some shipped home, it was there when I arrived. And the locals selling baked goods, homemade ice cream and some crafts, only on Tuesday and Thursday, shouldn’t be missed.
I had a problem with the advertised sunrise. Absolutely spectacular, to be sure. But the bed was so incredibly comfortable, it was hard to get up to see it. My daughter (age 22), not only managed to get out of bed before noon, but went out to the lower deck before sunrise and got a time lapse video of the sunrise from the hot tub.
The hosts were great. Always nearby when you need them, and a wealth of great local info. Where to shop, where not to. Things to see, places not to bother with. And some nearby surprise gems that were not advertised, but were a highlight. I’m not gonna spill the beans, but this property is way more than expected.
So stop surfing for places to stay and just book this place before someone else does. Like me. I would plan my vacation dates around when this place is available.
