Spectacular Views and Natural Beauty

On the slopes of Mauna Kea, at 1200’ above the little town of Honomu is located the great waterfall of Akaka. Nearby, on top a hill is our private little piece of paradise. The house overlooks a vast swath of East Hawaii. From the blue of Hilo Bay to the mountain top of Mauna Kea , and across miles of the Hamakua Coast. You can see sights of verdant splendor from this home which sits on fifteen acres that borders a stream. This idyllic setting and the comfort of this home gives your spirit a lift. You 'get away from it all feel'.
Main house Upstairs has private entry and exclusive use of hot tub and lanai. There are three bedrooms and two baths, a fully equipped kitchen , dining area with seating for 6 people. Open lanai has a hot tub for relaxation after a long day enjoying the sights.
Main bedroom has king size bed, adjoining bathroom. The other two guest bedrooms have queen sized beds that share a full bath. Each room has an incredible view.
This is a one of a kind place to get away.
The property sits on 15 acres with a gated entry.
NOTE: A private first floor area is occupied by Host/manager/owner.

Simply Amazing

My wife and I have stayed at numerous time shares on the Hamakua Coast and this one is now our favorite. The home is spacious and comfortable and the views are out of this world. Highly recommend this property.

We enjoyed our stay at this home about 12 mi. North of Hilo.

This property is beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. A good location from which to go to the Botanical Gardens, Akaka Falls, and to take the road north to Waimea. J&M Feb. 2025

Lovely relaxing getaway in Honomu

Could not have asked for a more perfect vacation rental. Very well appointed and accommodating, beautiful view and location, so relaxing and fun. Wonderful hosts too!!

Great getaway!

What a great location to get away from it all! We loved feeling like we were in the clouds when the rain set in. We loved the sound of the distant waterfall and stream and our little granddaughter even learned to love the sounds of the croakie frogs at night. Highly recommend this little slice of rural Hawaii.

Great place… weather out of our control

We have stayed here a few times in the past. We typically love it. We enjoyed the house and the bbq grill and the sunrises as usual. Krystal was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. During some extremely rainy days/nights we enjoyed watching some Netflix. When the weather was nice the views were phenomenal. The house is very peaceful. This was October 2024 and unfortunately there were a few days of some severe rainy weather that was unusual even for the rainy side of the big island.

Visiting Family

We were visiting Hilo for my dad's 80th Birthday celebration and took a mini staycation. While the location is farther out of Hilo than we normally stay, Honomu was perfect. The view was absolutely amazing! The home was nice and clean and more than enough space for the three of us. Gazing up at the stars at night in the jacuzzi was the highlight of our stay. Mahalo for sharing your home with us.

Amazing Place

This was a relaxing place to stay. Great location to get away from the busy city. Lots of space for 4 adults and the beds were very comfortable. The only complaint we have is that cats are roaming the property and like to crawl on vehicle and sleep on it for warmth. We had a rental car and they scratch the paint in several places on the hood. Just pop the hood of the vehicle and that will solve the issue.

Amazing place to stay!

We really enjoyed staying here while in Hilo/Honamu. It's a lovely, comfortable unit with an outstanding view! Quite area, no close neighbors. The caretakers were helpful, but not intrusive and were off site most of the time. We would happily come back again!

Great house in great location!

We just spent a week at this wonderful property. Great view, very comfortable home, and well stocked. It felt remote and very relaxing...but also just a quick trip into Hilo for dinner. The owners, Andrea and Brian, were very responsive and accomplish, thank you! We had a great trip.

Rainbows & nature

Fantastic stay, we loved the view and the rooms, bedding, towels, kitchen, outdoor room, laundry, screens on the windows - we loved the open windows! The hot tub was fantastic with views of the stars one night. So happy we chose this property instead of staying in Hilo.

Beautiful views, very peaceful.

We had a wonderful time staying at the "Akaka Falls house". The property felt very remote, yet was close enough to town. The ocean and pasture views were amazing. Overall it was very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed being so close to Akaka Falls, which we walked to several times.

Quiet and Beautiful

Sunrise views, a river and waterfall adjacent to the property, and peace and quiet all await you at this beautiful well kept vacation rental. The location is great for exploring the Hamakua coast and is close to Hilo town as well. The house was very clean offering all the amenities as our own home. We were very cozy and recommend this house for a vacation. We loved it and will visit again.

Paradise

When you visit understand this is not the Ritz but you’re there to be with nature. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to world and this is the most peaceful place I’ve ever been. The hosts interacted with us when needed and our kids loved the donkeys and waterfall. The stars and sounds at night are like nothing we’ve ever experienced. Thank you to the host and owners for sharing your piece of heaven.

Wonderful place with gogeous view

Our family of 5 had a 3-night vacation here during Spring break 2018. It was so wonderful. Wonderful rainforest house

The house is located at the top of a hill in a wonderful area full of green and next to Akaka falls. The access might be tricky, but Andrea provided detailed instructions to get there easily. The house has amazing views and a lot of commodities (even a dry sauna!). Perfect place to relax and visit the east coast of Big Island! I recommend it!

Excellent!

The house is beautifully located on top of a hill with an amazing panoramic view of the ocean. As the sun sets there isn't another light visible in the distance. It felt really great to be in the middle of nature. House is conveniently located close to the Akaka falls state park. The house is very well setup. We had an amazingly comfortable stay and will definitely come back here again.

Beautiful and peaceful Akaka Farms

What a great place to get away from it all! We had a fabulous stay at Akaka Farms. The property is absolutely gorgeous and totally private with big sweeping views from the ocean to the mountains - even out to the snow covered peaks of Mauna Kea. Two-levels of decks wrap around the house taking in the views, and include a Jacuzzi - perfect for winding down after a busy day to watch the stars at night. The house is well appointed, very comfortable and very clean, and Stephen the manager was extremely helpful. We loved every minute of our stay, and will definitely be back!!

Jean and Jim Lievens purchased this property in 1991. They first started with the infrastructure and later the farm house on a site which captures quite a view. Jean loves this special area and has decided to share this lovely spot with other travelers and friends. Though the farm is not yet developed, a plan is in place to create a botanical garden. Guests and friends will enjoy watching this verdant land come alive. This property is managed by Brian and Andrea Lievens.
