Andrea was an excellent host and Krystle and Alec were friendly and helpful downstairs neighbors. This was a great place to stay in mid-summer with temperatures in the 70s during the day and in the 60s at night. It is perfectly situated for exploring the Hamakua Coast. Honoli'i Beach is only twenty minutes away and Hilo is just a little further for groceries. Kilauea, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa are only an hour away. We saw two eruptions and spent lots of time exploring lava fields and caves. While it is 15-acre property, it is not private. The rental space is directly above the living quarters for the on-site managers and with open windows you hear all their conversations, telephone calls, and TV programs. And they probably hear everything from upstairs. When we checked in Krystle warned us of low water pressure and this proved to be an issue for the duration of our stay. Water pressure was so low that it was only practical to shower if nobody else was using water at the same time. Using the toilet or the kitchen sink could bring the shower to a trickle or even a dead stop. While the property overlooks a vast swath of Hawaii, the design of the house does not provide easy access to the views. The living room is oriented to the interior rather than to the views. A bed on the lanai faces to the living room rather than to the view and further blocks the view from the living area. Where the master bedroom should have views to the ocean, it instead has a bathroom and closet.
