Live a Piece of History at My Hilo Home
Enter the home onto the grand lanai (porch) which is fully screened in and offers a view of the manicured acre with Hilo Bay views in the distance. Through the front doors you'll be greeted by our huge living room. The original hardwood floors and plantation era architectural details are unique to Hilo homes from the 1920s and 1930s. This huge living area books on history and art of Hawaii, a large flat-screen TV, high-speed Wi-Fi internet and luxurious lounging area big enough for your whole family. NOTE: there are no TV channels so bring your streaming login info!
There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the home that are artfully decorated with historic representations of 'old Hawaii'. The kitchen at the back of the house is bright and full of windows to take in your Hawaiian landscape. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you may need to cook a big meal or heat up your restaurant leftovers. Seating for 8 at the dining table and seating for 6 at the kitchen table with additional seating on the lanai.
My Hilo Home is planted with lots of tropical fruiting trees and plants. Enjoy juicy pineapples from our pineapple patch in summer months, tangy lychee from our ancient lychee tree in spring and citrus in the winter. There is also a breadfruit tree for those adventurous travelers who want to try a unique starch (please follow in-house instructions on preparing the difficult fruit!).
Four comfortable bedrooms line one side of the private home. Three of the bedrooms have queen size beds and the fourth has two twin beds (max occupancy is 8 guests). Each of the two bathrooms has a marble shower and one bathroom has a small bathtub. A pack-n-play is available for our guests with babies. The kitchen has an electric cook-top, electric oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and washer/dryer for laundry. All kitchen dishes and small appliances are available for your use. The house is immaculately cleaned between guests (at check-out) and mid-stay cleaning is an optional add-on.

Beautiful property in Hilo in a gated area but still close enough to walk to town. Met the neighbors who are so friendly. We were able to pick fruits from the yard and enjoy them. Great location for many activities. Communication was easy with the host. Didn’t realize when we booked that there was no AC and the house was very hot at first. They do provide many fans which helped but if you have a hot night like our first one sleeping was difficult. Lots of frogs making noise outside so that took awhile and ear plugs to get use to but having the windows open helps with air flow and to cool the house. Overall lovely older home with beautiful yard and huge screened in porch.

Mahalo for your review! Like most places in East Hawaii, this property does not have AC. It’s really not needed in our very mild climate, where daytime high temps rarely climb above 83 degrees and night time lows are in the 60s. Opening windows and turning on fans are usually all that is needed for comfortable temperatures. We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit, and we hope to host you next time you visit Hilo!

Beautiful property very close to Hilo Town. We loved exploring the variety of fruit trees on the property and watching wild life from the lanai. Our friends and family said it was a trip to remember.

What a beautiful house to share with my ohana. House was big enough for multiple generations to stay and feel comfortable. My 75 yr old mom’s favorite start of the day was walking around the yard, watching the sunrise and then using the fresh fruit as part of our breakfast. For the younger generations, it was close enough to walk to downtown and go to the shops, down town concert, and farmers market. Loved our stay.

the house was a lovely historic house. Situated slightly outside of Hilo town, yet close to everything. Perfect for a large family group.

Great stay
We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful home. The kitchen and view were sensing and extremely well equipped with everything we could need. So much attention to detail to make a comfortable stay.

Family stay
A few hiccups but the commincation was good and we got things resolved. Beautiful plantation house and grounds. Very private and lots of room for a family of 7.

Stay at my Hilo Home
This home was just what we were looking for, clean, very comfortable and in a great location. It had a great porch and plenty of space. We will be sure to visit again.

Lovely September stay
Beautiful property with amazing views. Noting more wonderful to come home up after a day of biking, swimming or exploring than the screened in veranda with views of Hilo Bay.

Beautiful n charming older home

Beautiful Big Island retreat with historic charm
The house is truly remarkable - a historic gem that doesn't disappoint. The large kitchen has a wonderful view and you can spend a lot of time on the Lanai and soak in both old and new. Great place with lots of room and tons and charm!

Great vacation rental
We loved staying at this lovely vacation home. It was clean, comfortable and cozy! So much Hilo charm. Huge space, especially loved the wrap around screened-in porch. We hope to return in the future.
