This is a great cabin, just not for our family and not for the weather we had. We brought our children, ages 5, 7, and 9 and when they could, they had a great time swimming and playing on the beautiful sand beach. Unfortunately, we ended up staying out of the water more than we would have liked due to the weather, so several little annoyances about the property compounded into a slightly-less than fabulous time. There was also a lack of details in the listing that normally wouldn’t have mattered for most people, but really complicated things for a young family trying to plan for uncertain weather. I messaged the host about a few items before the trip, but other reviews were so glowing about how it had everything that I didn’t worry about anything than our deal breaker items. The cabin had some life jackets, but not enough/right sizes for all the kids, we had to fix water toys with duct tape, use our own air pump, etc. The paddle boat was good for kids, but couldn’t hold two adults without taking on water. The grill is top-notch, but we couldn’t eat lunch on the patio because its too hot in the sun. It’s been remodeled recently and the décor and finishes are very nice. The older kids enjoyed the signage once we explained the jokes. The air conditioner smelled a little musty and the tv/dvd/vcr combo is precariously perched on top of a tall dresser; the open spiral staircase is very tight. By the end of the 3rd night, the kid sleeping in the loft had moved downstairs because she kept waking up with huge, itchy welts and others got them on the last night; might have been spiders. The bedding was clean, but there were no allergy/waterproof covers on the pillows or mattresses. It’s one step up to the living area from the kitchen/bathroom and two steps up to the bedrooms - everyone kept stubbing their toes. The kitchen really does have everything you need. We didn’t use the plastic dishes because they had an odor; we ended up using bottled water for drinking. We really appreciated the napkin dispenser and large table and the appliances all work. The cable was out, which was fine with us, but couldn’t get the DVD remote working – had to let it play itself. I guess we were expecting it to be more of a polished rental property than a family cabin. It was a pretty good time, but all the little things kept adding up and after four nights, we were more than ready to move on to the hotel we had booked for the second part of our vacation.
