Colorful vintage beach front house rental in Surfside Beach, Texas. Sound Waves is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath vacation rental with beach front views of Surfside Beach from the large deck. Semi-private with no neighbors right next door. It's no longer possible to building a beach house this close to the water. Wonderful cathedral ceilings with open floor plan and walls of windows to enjoy the ocean front views. Sleeps 10.

Remodeled in October 2024with new roof, comfy sleeper couch, paint inside and out, new AC, tile in bathrooms and other updates. Fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker & grinder, dishwasher, toasters, blender for the margaritas and all the utensils and serving bowls & platters you’ll need. We highly recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and coffee. An awesome kitchen with ocean front views to enjoy while cooking! Enjoy the Surfing bedroom or the Lighthouse bedroom. BBQ pit (bring charcoal) and washer/dryer. FREE WI-FI Internet, Smart TVs. BIG beach front deck to enjoy the stunning beach front views.

More Vintage charm: Sound Waves located at 105 Nesmith, named after the parents of Michael Nesmith of The Monkees. They owned the house directly behind Sound Waves.

Two (2) night minimum stay. Sleeps 10. As in all properties in Surfside, bring your own linens or use our linen service for a fee. SUPER cleaning with clorox and more!

We had uninvited guests.

I’ve thought long about posting this review but I feel that other guests should know. We checked in on a Friday evening for 7 days. We were making dinner on the stove and a roach ran out and we killed it. Then we started seeing more and more. In the kitchen, by the couches, bedrooms, bathrooms and crawling on the floors. They were everywhere. We could no longer stay there but couldn’t get a new place next door until Sunday on Vrbo. I let the property contact, Donna, know on Friday night right after we arrived and she said she was sorry and they had just exterminated. I told her I found another place but couldn’t check out until Sunday. She asked if we would like the place exterminated again, I declined. She agreed that we could check out and she would take care of it and charged us for the two days and refunded the rest of the trip. She also told me to call the management company. I did and they said that they had the house treated 4 times in the last month. We were not comfortable staying in the house Saturday night and stayed with my sister. The air conditioning was also not the best, it took forever to get to 77 at the coolest. They did provide a fan in the master bedroom. While we were staying at the house down the street we saw the exterminator there spraying. So hopefully the situation is fixed now. She did work with us and try to make it right.

Closest to Beach

House is as advertised. The stove was not working but a call to mgt. and a service tech was on it and made the repair. House could use a little paint and fixing up in places but very livable, and clean. Don’t hesitate to book, we would stay here again.

July Wedding

We had a wedding in Galveston to attend so we decided to make it a vacation with 2 other couples. We were so pleased with the location and the house was everything we needed.

Our Summer getaway

It's a tradition every year we start our summer at the beach. We have rented this particular house before and we try and book it every year we plan our vacation. I love the house we stay at and we make great memories every year we go! We will definitely book again next summer!! Thank you for having us!

House accommodation were perfect for my family. Beach access was great with the walkway. I highly recommend the walkway instead of the trail in the dunes because there are rattlesnakes. I saw one that was at least 5 ft. long.

Relaxing Thanksgiving

Our stay at Surfside

I took my wife and kids to this property for a 4 day stay. It was amazing !! Literally right on the beach. The views were awesome. The whole experience was great from beginning to end

Great location, poor decor

Great spot on the beach but amenities are lacking. Place need serious renovation and better cleaning between stays. Floor was sandy, deocor was garage sale items at best. For the cost, they can do better.

Wonderful Gulf Views

Sound waves was a wonderful experience to the host/property manager to the cleanliness to the wonder sound of the gulf. Sitting on the deck drinking coffee in the morning with the beautiful sunrise while listening to the birds chirp and the gulf whisper was a very relaxing time for me. We will definatly be back again. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Vintage? Or old and dirty?

You may be close to the beach but bring your cleaning supplies, repair kit and black mold migraine medicine. The "charming" photos on VRBO show a false and misleading reality. This place screams we-don't-care! It's dirty, broken and offered us more work than vacation. From the rusty deck chairs to the no internet and tiny tv, to the broken glass, black mold headaches, and having to fix a sleeper sofa at 11 pm in order to have enough beds (as advertised, sleeps 12, we were 9 and still not enough) This VRBO is a 1 star pass. Great beach escape

I have never rented a house before but check in was so simple the house was amazing about a mile from the public entrance part of the beach but almost like your own private beach the house is about 150 feet from the water loved sitting on deck watching waves and sitting inside listening to them. We walked the beach about a mile in each direction and didn’t see a house with beach access as good as this one, everything was wonderful and we are already planning when to come back, we will definitely stay here again!

Perfect Beach Getaway

When scanning left and right on the balcony, you won't find another beach house that's closer to the beach than this house. You walk off the slab onto sand and are about 20 seconds from setting up your spot on the beach. Everything was clean and worked, check-in was the easiest I've encountered, and there are no close neighbors (the lot next to the house is for sale). To be fair, the only 2 negatives I could say is the lack of power outlets (though we managed quite easily with extension cords and power strips) and the fact people in the nearby houses walk beneath the house and use your beach access. All of them were friendly, so it wasn't a problem...but, well, yeah. All-in-all a wonderful experience and we will be back!

Sound Waves! Beautiful Sunrises in the morning!

The view was absolutely gorgeous all day long!!! All things considered, we had a great time with our dog along. The house was okay but needs some updates. We will not be back because the information said the bathrooms were updated in 2019, yes, the shower tiles were updated, but the toilets obviously were not! We opted not to shower during our 3 night stay due to the rusty tap water conditions. Plus, being asked to sweep, mop & vacuum after being charged a cleaning fee was a little disappointing.

Location, location, location!

Great property for a family! Right on the beach! Easy access to beach and local businesses. Very pleased with our choice. Would highly recommend this property. Not plush, but very adequate.

Unbeatable Location

This house is on the sand and just steps to the actual ocean shoreline. The deck is wonderful with just a bit of breeze. Sunrise is gorgeous through the open windows facing the water. Since it's near the dunes with greenery, the mosquitos can get a bit thirsty. Bring bug spray for under the house. It's a house with bare essentials. Houses on the water require maintenance because of the constant salt and weather, dont expect perfection. Since it's rented, it gets weekly cleaning and any cleaning guests are willing to do, be a good steward if you're there but dont expect perfection. Everything worked fine while we were there and it wasnt messy, but a bit well used by end of season. We tried to leave it better than found. It's quiet. The beach is better than I expected. The area is kind of tucked in an industrial zone so you get a wonderful surprise. If I went back, I'd bring a bigger group of friends or just my spouse. Perfect get away for a private beach house vacation.

A little slice of heaven

We had the greatest time in all the years of coming to Surfside Beach! The house was perfect! The check in was quick and easy! The view was breathtaking and unforgettable. Sound waves was everything we expected and so much more. Already looking forward to a winter getaway or a spring retreat! Thank you to everyone who made this dream vacation a reality!

Fun Stay

Time was great and can’t get closer to the beach. Only down side is the water for the city of Surfside. We brought water to drink and ended up buying more to cook with as well.

Great location!

You can’t beat the location. Right on the beach and wonderful views. There is a short pathway that leads you to the sand. The house decorations are bright and cheery and the covered deck is awesome. We would recommend having a high top table with bar stools on the deck so you could see down to the beach. The chairs put you right in line with the deck railing so you have to prop yourself up to see over. There is a built in bench but if you sit there, you have to sit sideways to see. There aren’t any outlets on the deck. The house is pretty tight for 10 guests. We had 6 adults, 3 teens and 1 child. I am glad we did not bring our 2 dogs! Rooms are very small and master bathroom is tiny. Would have been fun to have more comfortable seating in the living room so we could all sit together. Dishwasher did not clean dishes properly. The kitchen could use more utensils, baking/cookie sheets, a griddle, measuring cups etc. We didn’t have any issues with plumbing or AC. The beach conditions were perfect. No seaweed, hardly any jellyfish or mosquitoes! Overall, of course we had a great time! I just want to give some feedback on a few items as we were a little surprised when we first showed up. I would stay there again with a smaller group and now knowing what I know :)

Wonderful Beach House andLocation

You could not get any closer to the Beach nor have so many beautiful views . I love the Decor which is Beach Chic! The Kitchen has everything you need and the glasses and dishware compliment its beachy theme! I love the fact they have the Washer and dryer so close to the kitchen You can do your laundry with a beach view. The house has plenty of blankets, some books to read, games to play and a DVD library. The house also has Direct TV so you can also play Direct TV music channels with a plethora of Music choices. You have more privacy on each side of the house than most with empty lots on each side. If you are looking for a Beach Retreat with family , Mother Daughter trip or girlfriend trip this is the one with plenty of beds and a lovely red pull out sofa. It would be great for an Artists or Writers retreat also. We loved it so much we didn't want to leave. I can't wait to book again for many occasions. Soundwaves is the perfect getaway.
