Beautiful Cozy Brand New Beach House

Welcome to Sunset Bay! We want our beautiful cozy home to feel welcoming and most importantly feel like a 'home away from home'. We accommodate a family or families of 8 or less. We have a beautiful view of the bay and a 3 minute walk to the clean private beach, vehicle access with in 2 minute drive. We have amazing restaurants, convenience stores, and rental entertainment within a few minutes. Coffee maker for freshly brewed morning coffee. Each room has a TV with DVD, Blue-ray player, DirectTv, and WiFi INTERNET NOW included!!!. Fully furnished with 2 Queen size beds and multiple beds to accommodate everyone comfortably. House includes new washer and dryer and outdoor shower to rinse off sand and salt :) Family pets are welcomed under 40 lbs. Outdoor patio furniture, kid inflatable pool with electric pump, new grill (with propane tank included), and fully enclosed with picket fence for the kids to enjoy! Great fishing on the beach or on the multiple beautiful bays. Sargen (East Matagorda Bay - great fishing)) 30 min away, Galveston also only 30 min away. (reg.# 10042)

Great stay

Everything was fantastic, one of the last tenants dump charcoal in the yard. The beach was a very short distance away. The beach is driveable.

Great little stay by the beach

The home was a great layout and in good repair. Great little house for the week! No hand soap. Also it is a short walk to the beach but just know that it is on the west side of the main highway so you have to cross that to get to the beach.

Moms and daughters weekend

We had 4 moms and 3 teenage girls staying in the house and the layout of the house made it so fun. The house is super cute and it looked like it was recently updated. The girls were able to all sleep in the bunk bed room together and the location is walkable to the beach. We definitely made some lasting memories that weekend and in the house.

Surfside stay at Sunset Bay

We loved staying at the house named Sunset Bay. It was roomy and clean. The access to the beach was just across the way. The fence around the driveway gave us great privacy. The view on the front deck was gorgeous with the morning sunrise. The price was affordable for my family and my brother’s family. I highly recommend this property. Just remember to bring your mosquito repellent!!!!

GREAT GET AWAY; VERY PLEASED

We have no complaints, it was a beautiful, new, very clean, comfortable home. Room for my family of 8 including grown children and grandkids. Plenty of room for us all. Nice deck and downstairs to relax and spend family time. The house is not on the beach side of the highway so we had to walk quite a distance across the highway with our grankids to the beach access. Though it sits center in a neighborhood, we felt that privacy was adequate and enjoyed the fenced in yard and privacy gate downstairs.

I liked where it was located. My family enjoyed it. It was not clean when we got there. Food left in refrigerator and cabinet. Dishes were chipped. Even with all of that, I decided to put aside and enjoy myself.

Surfside Beach

The property was nice. It was clean. I wish there were extra tp and paper towels but because we read reviews we brought extra. Plenty of towels was a great plus. The internet went down a couple of times but the property owner was quick to respond. The technician came out 1 day to fix which was only a “band aid” then he came out and replaced the whole system which did the trick. Overal the communication with the owner was good. The place was clean. Would consider staying again if I was in the area.

Happy Vaycay

Overall our stay was great! Had everything we needed and the kids loved the house! Plenty of room. Our only complaint was the downstairs bed being fairly uncomfortable. Sunk in on both sides from extensive use, pretty hard, and small for 2 people. Also, the listing portrayed the house as being located on the beach, but it was across the road on the bay side. So if you want a "walk out onto the beach" house; this isn't that. Its a short walk across though. But it was still lovely and we enjoyed our stay so much we booked an extra day.

Beautiful house, poor location description

The house is beautiful and spacious and clean other that some of the dishes.The house is located across from the beach, but you cannot see the beach. The beach is several roads down and about a 10 minute walk. The bay is beside the unit, but is not accessible. The house is beautiful, but the dryer and the dishwasher did not work.

Missing items

We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed with some items that were not available, like towels. Also, some of the furniture chair arm was broken, the door to the bottom sink cabnet was loose, and the dryer didn't work. Some of the pots and pans were unusable.

Surfside stay

The property was pretty well maintained and looked very clean but none of the bed linens upstairs were clean. We found make-up and hair on them. The vacuum cleaner did not work. We were disappointed that we couldn’t walk out to the beach as we had at our other rentals but that was my fault. The cutlery was a motley assortment and there was no can opener, but that could have been the fault of previous tenants. We had fun and made good memories there.

Overall it was a nice stay. We don’t expect something the ritz when paying what we did. For what we paid, it was nice. Toilets did not flush well. Refrigerator didn’t seem to be as cold as it needed to be. Floors were absolutely filthy. We could not walk around barefoot in the home without our feet turning BLACK! Made us not want our kids to be playing on the floor.

Great place to relax

We love the real beach vibe. Surfside is it. You can drive out on the city beach in a 1/2 mile or the county beach in a mile or you can walk across the road and 300 yards and be on the beach from this house. We prefer the county beach because we drive right up to our spot and just unload everything. We parked our truck under the house inside the gate and let our dog run in the yard. Our daughters had there own room to chill in. We hardly ever seen them unless we were on the beach. House cleaning did a great job just was a little late to get there so we could get in. We didn’t mind getting the towels out of the dryer to get in on time. Everything was there plus water toys, canopy, and plenty of propane for the grill. We always make a HEB run for there pre-made dinners and the fridge worked great. I read a lot of reviews on this place most were good some were complainers, if you want a 5 star somebody to wait on you hotel go somewhere else. This is a family very nice and modern 5 star house that’s been used. That’s not us we loved it. It was great.

Enjoyable Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the property. It was very clean and well maintained. Loves: 1. The area downstairs is amazing. It's large and has lots of room to hang out grilling and storing the massive amounts of stuff that you need to bring to the beach with lots of kiddos. 2. Very Clean 3. Owner is very responsive. She replied almost immediately to all my (multiple) e-mails. Dislikes: 1. Although not necessary, it is nice for owners to provide a binder with local eats, spots, and fun things to do in the area. It would have helped us find the crabbing pier sooner. My 4 year old had a BLAST using string and chicken necks and caught 20 crabs in an hour. They were too small to keep, but so much fun for him. It was minutes from the house. 2. The water from the tap is disgusting. I could not drink it even in coffee. Some Notes: 1. Although it is possible to walk to the beach, with two small kids we drove there. It was too long of a walk for small feet. 2. There is no bath tub in the house. I totally forgot to make note of that in my house hunt. We had to bath our one year olds in a pool downstairs.

Such a cute house

We loved our stay there but the only thing I was disappointed about was in the picture it looks like you can see the beach from the house. The house was just big enough for our family. The owner allowed me to check in early. She was very accommodating

Cute property, close proximity to the beach.

This property was really cute and a perfect fit for a weekend girls’ trip. A few tips: 1) Bring plastic ware - there is some silverware but not full sets for multiple people. 2) The photos show a bridge to the beach - note that this is across the street and to the left - we mistakenly thought it was right by the property. However, even across and over, it still took less than 4 minutes to get to a quiet part of the beach. 3) If you’ve never been to Surfside, just a heads up that the water is not great. It smells and I’ve never tasted it, but don’t think I would recommend trying. Bring bottled water! Also, this house tended to have some air in the pipes so the water would spout off-color on the various faucets when first turned on — this is not odd in the Surfside area so it’s not a “negative” as it happens at other places too (I’ve stayed in a number of different rentals in the area). It only took a few seconds to clear up, but I recommend not putting a your hands under the faucet or jumping in the shower until you’ve seen the water. Overall a great stay - would stay here again.

I grew up in Freeport and graduated from Brazosport high school in 2000, I attended Sam Houston and graduated with a bachelors in Criminal Justice, I always wanted to help people, that was and still is a passion of mine, unfortunately I wasn't able to pursue much of a career with in the criminal justice field. I did however pursue a career with in the oil and gas industry, which is how I met my Husband. He is a petroleum engineer and a UT graduate. We have two kids now and life as parents is definitely a challenge, and it can be overwhelming at times. Since I'm a beach girl, I convinced my husband to buy a beach house for our sanity! We couldn't find the one house that felt like home, until we walked into our little beach/bay house. We instantly knew that this house would become our little vacation home. Since our lives and jobs are located in Houston, our main home remains there, we live in Spring now, but having a vacation home for our growing family is definitely a blessing for us. Since this place has already brought us so many happy memories, we would like to share our home with other families so they can also have the opportunity to create happy memories themselves. :)
