Casa Romero is a newly restored 100 year old family home with original vigas and 20 inch thick adobe walls. This romantic, charming home is a beautiful, peaceful home that truly is a home away from home. Just a 15 minute drive to Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, and 10 minutes to the Pecos Wilderness Trail Head, Carson National Forest. Taos, NM 20 miles away, and Santa Fe, merely an hour away.

Our newly restored home has maintained its original charm with modern touches, such as hand-sanded hardwood floors, new upscale appliances, granite countertops, soaker tub w/jets, custom built shower, and reclining leather couches.

Kitchen fully equipped, 6-burner gas stovetop, wall oven, microwave, dishwasher, opens to a private portal for outdoor eating, grilling and relaxation.

Master bedroom with queen bed on main floor. Third bed is in upstairs loft. Has private outside entrance, large sitting area, queen bed, and 1/2 bath. The adjoining balcony provides an awesome view of the majestic Jicarita Peak and surrounding open fields.

Washer/dryer, bed and bath linens provided.

Come enjoy a peaceful, quiet weekend in the beautiful Penasco Valley.

Beautiful home!

The only thing that could have been better is if I had headed the words of the host, “use his written directions” do NOT use your GPS. We drove in at night, it’s hard to see out there at night. The GPS had us on the other side of the mountain, at the end of a dirt road. The host came out in his truck to come and try to rescue us. Very kind.

Quiet Mountain Escape

This property was a great place for our small family of 2 grandparents, 2 parents, a young aduly and 2 grandchildren under the age of 4 to stay. There were a total of 5 adults and 2 kids. We brought our own hand soap and paper towels because in most places that stuff isn’t provided, but there was not only hand soap, but laundry detergent, and shampoo available. Check in was easy and when some stray puppies wandered into the property the owners were quick to respond. The view from the patio was beautiful every morning and the landscaping was immaculate. We definitely would consider staying here again.

Beautiful updated home

Very beautiful home w great kitchen and nice appliances. Very clean and completly stocked with all you would need. Will come back and stay again. A little out of the way but close to Sipapu ski/ summer resort. About 30 minutes to Taos and hour to Santa Fe.

Cozy and Well-Stocked!

We had a wonderful stay in Penasco. The cottage is cute, cozy, and has everything you need for a visit of any length. The kitchen is well stocked as are the bathrooms and laundry. Internet is fast if you need to do some work or school. Easy drive to Sipapu and hiking trails; Santa Fe and other attractions are about an hour or so away, but the drive is very scenic. Highly recommended!

Perfect for our Ski Trip

Our family of six loved staying at this house! It was only a 15 minute drive to Sipapu ski resort, and the house had everything we needed for our stay. The little ones loved having their own bedroom (off the master bath and small, but perfect for them) and the older kids enjoyed the upper loft room and hangout area. The master bedroom was cozy and the jacuzzi and heated floor in the bathroom was awesome! The owners allowed us to check in early and were quick to respond to any questions we had. We will definitely stay here again!

We have stayed at this property 4 years in a row for our family ski trip and it hasn’t disappointed yet! Great proximity to Sipapu, clean and accommodating. Great for the family and plenty of room with the upstairs area!

Wonderful Christmas Trip

We enjoyed our stay! The house was perfect and had everything we needed. The upstairs was great for our 3 college boys. We will definitely be back to visit. Great location to Sipapu. We also made the drive to Taos one evening and it was a nice drive from the house. Great host!!

Great getaway destination!

Ski trip

This home is a very well made adobe home close to Sipapu and Taos. It is very warm and had plenty of room for luggage and ski equipment. The kitchen was well stocked and even had a crockpot and outdoor grill. We used both! The washer and dryer were large and able to handle our ski clothes perfectly. The manager came out early in the morning and plowed the driveway after a heavy snowfall. The upstairs bedroom, which is only accessible from the outside stairs, was enormous and was the perfect “getaway” for our teenage boys! The manager answered the phone immediately when we had a question and responded to text messages right away. He was very attentive. The place was very clean and nice. We will definitely stay there again when we go skiing in that area.

Awesome home

Fun stay. Beautiful home. Presently secluded. 3ft of snow fell on our trip. Roads were well maintained and the property owner even came by to plow the drive and shovel the porch. Ski Sipapu is close. Snowmobiling in red river highly recommended. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful family getaway.

We had a great time, the area is beautiful and close to the ski resort. The house is fantastic. All new appliances but still has that old house charm. The old outhouse in the backyard was a hit with my kids. It was all very nice and very comfortable. We’ll be back.

This home is about a 15-20 minute drive to Sipapu ski area. The home was clean and had everything we needed and more. The sunset views from the balcony are gorgeous. The teens loved the upstair mini apartment. They enjoyed their own space very much. We were very appreciative of the gentleman that came and cleared off the drive away and swept our sidewalk and steps after the beautiful snow we had overnight. The owners have done a wonderful job on this home and are very responsive to any questions you will have. We will definitely be back.

Great family mountain home

This was our third year staying at this home! It has been great for our family ski trips! Close to Sipapu ski area, everything you need, and cozy! Kids love having upstairs space. Owners were very responsive the one time we had a small issue! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
