We enjoyed our stay in the center of Amsterdam in this charming, old house. The location is great, and it sits just off the Prinzengracht. The communication with the host was fantastic, and they were very accommodating for our stay. Would certainly stay here again.

The house was great and was as described. Nick is a great host with a perfect balance of being available, informative and never intrusive. The amenities such as washer/dryer, dishwasher and fully equipped kitchen made it easy to cook in if you choose to. The location is very convenient yet off major traffic areas. We would certainly recommend this property and would likely visit there again.

This home is in the perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. We had everything we needed and more. We felt very comfortable here and would stay again next time we visit.

Wonderful stay at New Holland House

We had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. The house was beautifully maintained and in the perfect location. The stairs are definitely steep, but add to the character of the house. We couldn't recommend the New Holland House enough.

Wonderful apartment & great location

This apartment is close to many attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. Our host was responsive whenever we had any questions and provided recommendations on local restaurants. There are 2 flights of steep stairs which would be problematic for anyone with mobility issues. We loved our stay and can't recommend this apartment enough!

Charming, well-appointed home. A true Amsterdam experience. Yes, the stars are a bit steep but that is typical of such homes and well worth the extra cardio.

Wonderful

Nick was lovely, everything we asked for was arranged quickly and kindly. The house is amazing in its beauty. Perfectly located within walking distance of all the important places. You have to take into account the proximity to the big church whose bells ring every half an hour, 24/7. For those who sleep lightly, this could be a bit of a problem. Other than that everything is really perfect.

Excellent location and "old style' Amsterdam home

My wife and I have been to Amsterdam a few times before and stayed at various hotels in the city in the past. The new Holland House was a different experience because it is an entire house that was constructed long ago, so it has a lot of charm. Additionally, it is in a fantastic location - walking distance to the entire old part of the city. For the drawbacks, the configuration is not perfect - both bedrooms on third floor and both sets of stairs are very narrow and steep. If you have a large suitcase and are not very strong, you will not want to take your suitcase upstairs. The large modern bathroom is on the bottom floor, which means two floors apart from the bedrooms. There is bathroom in between the bedrooms on the third floor but it is relatively small. The back bedroom is quiet but the 'master' bedroom can get somewhat loud with street noise and wind noise. Overall, we would stay there again due to the location, but this is probably not an apartment for families with small children, or older people due to the stairs.

Glad you love the old charm of New Holland House. Feedback from families is they love staying in the house - and the stairs are part of the authentic Amsterdam canal house experience. We have now arranged a luxury driver service for guests from the airport that includes carrying your luggage up the stairs upon arrival.

Top notch experience

Historic building, fantastic location, upgraded kitchen + bathrooms, amenities are top of the line, bed are comfortable, communication was excellent & easy. This property is an ideal way to enjoy a holiday in Amsterdam.

What a wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam! Close to everything, comfortable, plenty of space, and just as pictured. Easy check in/check out. We hope to stay again at this lovely place!

Great place!

Great house, amazing location, wonderful host! This is an amazing place! Coffee and treats in the fridge were a welcome surprise. Washer and dryer were lifesavers! We had unusual heat during our stay so likely the rare occurrence that AC would’ve been nice. As mentioned on other reviews, the stairs are not for the feint of heart ;-) Narrow and steep and best not to wear socks but shoes or barefoot for better non-slip on the wood. Thanks for the great stay! Highly recommend!

Excellent property to stay in

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Nearby eating places. Up to date appliances. Host was rapidly responsive and helpful. The flat was classic Dutch with a lot of character. Would highly recommend and stay here again.

Perfect Stay in Jordaan

Our VRBO in Jordaan was the best place we could have stayed for our amazing trip to Amsterdam. Our host, Nick, greeted us the minute we arrived... the location and convenience could not have been better... the house was clean and comfortable.

Will be back!

I have been to Amsterdam several times but this house really made the visit. It is comfortable with some unique luxuries and shops and cafes right out your door. I was traveling with my two grown children and the space was very comfortable.

Amazing canal home!

This canal home is just off the street that runs past the canal. You can see the canal from windows on all three levels. It is exceptionally located in the heart of the Jordaan so there are many restaurants and shops close by. There was plenty of room for three of us to spread out. Nick was a great host and was very available. The home has lots of information about the local area and the kitchen is very well stocked. We felt like locals for our week in Amsterdam. One of the best (of many many) rentals for us. Thanks, Nick for all your help!

Perfect location, great atmosphere

We had a wonderful stay at New Holland House. Host and communications were great. Stairs are steep, but manageable for our group of fit adults. Would definitely stay again.

Very disappointed

Property was not nearly as nice as advertised. Stair rail was falling off the wall (a very dangerous situation with the steep and narrow stairs; they finally fixed it in the 3rd or 4th day there), mold all over shower curtain, the fold our bed was filthy with no bed linens (we found some but they were stained and dirty), and one night there was a very loud party well past midnight.

We provide 5 star hotel quality linen. Parties are unfortunately outside our control but our house is in a relatively quiet neighbourhood, so we seldom hear of parties. We take pride in making the house an incredible experience for guests and will are continuously investing in making the house amazing.

We had a lovely time in this house: a perfect location for walking around the city, a good kitchen and a real Dutch vibe. Our host was attentive and always helpful when we needed advice.

Great Stay at New Holland House

This property is as-advertised and should be considered by anyone wanting to stay in the Jordaan / Nine Streets area. Mark, the owner, was very responsive from booking on. His son, Nick, is the onsite property manager and was also great. We had only one small request of him during our two week stay and he was there to help within 5 minutes. The house itself is a delightful merchant house with an awesome kitchen (including a Jura coffee maker pre-filled with beans), nice furnishings and decor, and a very interesting book collection. As noted in a few other reviews, the stairs are no joke!! By American standards they might be more accurately described as ladders, but they are quite typical for Dutch houses of this era. Our family (ranging in age from 43 to 8) had no issues with them whatsoever. That said, older visitors or anyone with mobility issues should keep this in mind. Thanks again to Mark and Nick for a wonderful stay. This is a trip we will never forget.

Weekend in Amsterdam

Great property in close proximity to many sites. Tram/Metro system close by and easy to use, but most everything is walking distance. Only negative is proximity to Westerkerk. The church is beautiful, however, the clock tower goes off every 15 mins.
