This rare find is only a short walk to the parks, the beach, the marina, the fishing pier, the bank, the pharmacy, the library, and the downtown shops and restaurants............... Computer and smart-phone withdrawal is possible, but not required for tranquil living in this fishing village. Ideal location for writer or artist who prefers to work uninterrupted. Walk the sea wall for two miles or fish from the pier. Enjoy the sailors and shrimpers who come and go in the dazzling beautiful sunrises and sunsets. If you love birding, you will marvel at the largest number of species found anywhere in the United States. A replica of the La Belle sailing ship that was discovered in the Matagorda Bay is just steps away in the marina. Just two blocks away is the museum with an interesting accumulation of Palacios treasures from years gone by. Dine on fresh seafood from our port or savor Mexican or Asian foods from local family owned restaurants. Without the pandemonium of big city distractions, a type of restful detoxification may occur and a peace you won't soon forget can set in. Peaceful

My husband and I loved our stay over the 4th of July weekend. This was our first time to palacios and we couldn’t have picked a better place. It was located near everything and was so peaceful. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us, we are already planning our next stay!!!

Outstanding rental!

This rental gets just about everything right. It's spacious, clean, well kept, comfortable, with plenty of amenities and great communication with the on-site managers. I would stay here again without any question or reservation!

Nice and peaceful

Very nice apartment near the beach and lighted seawall during the evenings. If you want to be close to Matagorda beach but in a peaceful fishing town, Palacios is the place for you.

Location, Location, Location

You could not ask for a better location to take advantage of the beauty of the bay. The guest house was fully furnished and ready to go. Wonderful manger and neighbours make for a relaxing, peaceful stay. We stayed a month and will return next time we are in the area.

Perfect fishing destination

Fishing trip

This was a wonderful place with a great view of the bay. As a bonus, we were there for the 4th of July fireworks which we watched from the front room in comfort. The house is well maintained and everything we used worked properly. Everything was clean and the house was well furnished. I would recommend this house for any couple that wants a quite place to stay with access to the town and beach.

Excellent Stay

House is located across from bay. Small sandy beach, free pier fishing, boat launch, very quiet. Unit was very clean, bed was high but comfortable, kitchen and bath were well stocked with necessities. Chip and Carol are friendly and helpful. Internet was great. Would stay again.

Delightful!

I adore Palacios, have stayed several times at other properties amd just LOVED this one!! The view is stunning, the calm bay beach 200 steps away, and it is just so incredibly peaceful. After a month's stay trust me, I HATED to leave. Beautiful location, comfortable, great hosts.. i couldnt have asked for more.

Quiet comfort

I stayed here a weekend in late April with my girlfriend, another couple, and a single guy. The place is quiet and nicely appointed. I would hesitate to call it luxurious but with the diswasher, full kitchen, and washer/dryer, it has all the amenities one could want in a little fishing village for a weekend or a longer stay. Conveniently located a short walk from one of the boat ramps and a couple of restaurants, this is a place I look forward to visiting again.

Just Relaxing

The property was just as described, or better. Chip was a very pleasant person to talk to and was excellent as a host. During my stay we both walked and drove to fishing piers for a pleasant time away from business. In the evenings we prepared meals in the fully equipped kitchen, with all the dishes, pots and pans a cook could desire. The bed was fairly comfortable and the recliners more comfortable than the leather ones back home. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, minus the tap water odor which leaves much to be desired - take bottled water with you to drink.

Thank you for commenting on the water issue you experienced. To make a long story short, our cleaning crew reported the condition to us after you left. Our plumber found flow was obstructed in several fixtures. He installed new fixtures that restored full flow. Explanation related to a City interruption of service with loss of pressure that was followed by a period of limited use and restricted flow that allowed the water heater to cook up some bad smelling stuff. System and water heater has been flushed and delivers water to guests from the City's water system that is tested and highly rated by the Texas water system regulators. We are confident that the issue has been fixed. Based on the City's water quality rating and our 7 years experience living in our house served by the same incoming pipe from the City main with no issues or odors, we believe the tap water is safe and that bottled water is not necessary for the safety of our guests.

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day I had the pleasure of enjoying this rental property. The town is a small fishing town but with much character. We went for the fishing and relaxation so it was perfect for our plan for the weekend. If you are looking to get away this is your spot. There are many piers (lighted at night) in walking distance from the property. If you have a boat, the access to launch is readily available. The home is fully stocked with whatever you might need. All of the comforts of home have been provided by Chip and Carol who were there to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The bed and bedding in the rooms was so comfortable and the place was clean. The view of the bay from the many windows on the front and the patio was perfect. The homes around this rental have mature landscaping and added to the experience while enjoying time on the patio. Come prepared with food for your stay as restaurants are limited. The kitchen is nice and open to the rest of the living so cooking or preparing food while visiting was a breeze. I would not recommend more than 4 occupants but perfect for a couple retreat. The one down side is the bathroom is accessed from the master bedroom. I would certainly recommend this rental. My plan was to find a location for my father to get away and enjoy time fishing in his later years of life and I believe we found a perfect spot. Great Getaway

Wanted to retire on the water and enjoy the southern breezes, gardening and slowed down lifestyle. The frequent rains and climate make just about everything grow into a jungle and I love that. Facing the bay with the occasional wind storm, thunder and lightening is exciting and makes me smile. We love our neighbors who have become part of our extended family. I can't imagine why more people have not found Palacios but glad we did. It was a glorious gift.

The climate is great throughout the year and is enjoyed by winter Texans and Snowbirds escaping harsh conditions found further North in the winter months. Summers are for relaxing in the breezes without excessive heat
