My wife and I came to Mendocino area for our “mini-moon” after we just got married. We liked how the Kona Cabin was more secluded and tucked back into the Forrest. It also was only a short drive to Fort Bragg where you could go to a restaurant or grocery store. We enjoyed how much effort our hosts put into making sure our stay was a special one (property was stocked with coffee, creamer, a bottle of local red wine, popcorn, and a welcome card)!
All of the information provided in the cabin was very much appreciated (including local options for recreation, food and groceries). The only thing that could have been better was the insulation in the cabin and pellet stove since the high temps were in the mid 50s degF and lows in the 40s degF during our stay (May 2-May 5). The pellet stove didn't exactly function as the instructions mentioned. The instructions were clear they were slightly inaccurate. Basically not enough wood pellets were loaded during the normal startup sequence to sustain a fire so I had to turn the unit off and back on to make sure enough pellets were loaded. Luckily the hosts did provide an electric heater in the bedroom, which was very helpful.
Even with the minor setback of the pellet stove, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.
