Cabin on 45 acres part of which is an active Christmas Tree Farm and the rest is wooded mountain. The property is bucolic, featuring an old barn, seasonal mountain stream and pond. Beautiful views of the Green Mountains. There is a fire pit w. plenty of wood and tongs for roasting marshmallows. Ideal for hiking, snowshoeing then relaxing by cozy new wood stove in the great room. Or relax in one of the hammocks listening to the creek meander by.
A new covered rear porch has a swing and great views of the pond , trees and mountain .
A short ride to Quaint Old Bennington and Charming Manchester. Antique stores, premium outlets, museums and skiing all within a short drive.
Please note that this is an active Christmas Tree Farm so there may be a farmer or two tending the trees while you are there- but you probably won't even notice them. #MountMeMo

We had a great stay. Cabin is vey rustic but provided all the necessities and was very clean. # beds in upstairs loft are accessible those agile enough to handle a ladder and relatively tight access in the ceiling, floor. Huge property with grill, firepit and small pond. a few goats are in a fenced in area are relatively quiet and there is no "livestock scent". Small pond and hiking trails for some exercise. Would definitely return again.

The house was lovely and the location next to the Christmas tree farm was perfect for the start of the Christmas season. The goats and farm were adorable. The only small complaint was that the mattress in the main bedroom seemed old and very indented from use. I would stay here again been visiting Bennington.

Christmas Tree Farm is surrounded by beauty.

This is our 4th time staying here, and as usual it did not disappoint. Beautiful area, we had a great time exploring Eastern NY. Highly recommend.

Fall Get-Away

The accommodations for our week’s vacation were awesome. The home was beautiful, the goats and chickens enjoyed by all, and the views of the autumn foliage from the back porch were amazing.

Country getaway

We stayed for a long weekend to hike and kayak in the nearby parks. The house and property were nice and clean. Lots of outdoor space, we enjoyed the porch, walking some trails and the goats! Grateful we were able to rent this peaceful property and to experience the surrounding mountains, lakes and wildlife.

Perfect for a peaceful weekend getaway

Loved our stay at the cabin with our two cats. Property was clean and very well equipped. We had a great time exploring the forest behind the cabin and hanging out with the chickens on the porch.

Quiet beautiful farm in midst of spectacular Vermont fall scenery. Hosts responded to minor issues with prompt resolution. I’d stay here again and recommend it highly

Outdoors are shabby. House was clean enough. During ongoing Heat wave there were only fans set up despite AC listed. They did come the next day - we had to ask- to install but first night unable to use the attic bedroom. So they did reimburse first night totally and that made up for it fairly. Person caring for goats was nice and friendly but it is odd someone just shows up while you are having coffee outdoors. Then next am loud grass cutter right outside the windows and into back yard, would be disturbing if we had planned to be present. Pleasant guy but disruptive to privacy. These are quirks not necessarily red flags but people should know.

This property is homey and charming. It is more of a camp with modern amenities. If you like a place with personality, this home has it. It was perfect for our family of 5. The location was very private with a large backyard, a pond, goats, and hiking trails nearby. We only saw one vehicle pass the house the whole weekend. This was not very handicap accessible as there were different one-step levels throughout the house. Also, the bed nook in the kitchen was high off the ground and would benefit from a small step-stool. The beds were very comfortable and we were able to keep the house warm during the unseasonably cold last weekend in May. The property owner was friendly and responded quickly to our messages. They even included a binder with property details and expectations. Our family felt very comfortable here and wish to return!

Incredible Experience!

This is our second stay at the cabin and we loved it just as much this year. The property is very unique, and the level of interaction you get to have with the animals is great. My kids (6 and 8) spent virtually the entire time we were there wandering around with goats and checking for chicken eggs. The host is very responsive and the cabin itself is quite cozy. We will undoubtedly be back!

Cozy Farm Cabin

The cabin was even more beautiful in person. It had such a cozy feel to it with an old American farm atmosphere. Susan, the property owner. Was a wonderful host! Our communication was seamless and she was kind and courteous. She made us feel right at home. This was the first of many trips to this lovely cabin for our family to get our Christmas tree in Vermont.thank you Susan!!!

peace and quiet

This property is gorgeous. We so enjoyed walking the trails and drinking in the amazing colorful views. The animals were delightful. The cottage has lots of quirky charm but at this point in its life, it suffers from neglect. The small kitchen was fine and well-equipped. But the bathroom is unacceptable.

The host was amazing, incredibly responsive to my questions and helpful with some scheduling changes. The cabin/house is charming and rustic, fell in love with the wood stove and my kids like the bed in little nook off the kitchen. The area the situated in doesn’t have cell service for us. So make sure to down load the maps for the area. I found a lot of VT had the same cell service issue which was oddly satisfying. A few notes, the welcome book needs an update, the section about internet access seems dated as the house has fiber with good speed not DSL. Some other things can be updated too.

Cabin on a Tree Farm

The cabin’s property and Ananias roaming the yard were pretty funny and cool. The cabin itself was a bit dirty and grimy, specially the kitchen and bathroom. The one AC in the main bedroom barely could keep the room comfortably cool at night. If the place was cleaner we would definitely come back.

Snowy Weekend

My husband and I came to Shaftsbury VT hoping to see covered bridges, putter through shops and visit a sugar house to see maple syrup being made. Instead we were mostly restricted by the weather, choosing to hunker down in the cozy farmhouse for most of Saturday. The snow was beautiful, as was the farm. While the trip wasn't what we had planned, we enjoyed relaxing in such a scenic home. (I absolutely loved the bed in the kitchen!!!!)

Vermont weekend

While the setting was remote and beautiful, we were a little disappointed in the overall experience. We were really looking forward to hanging out with the “free-roaming” farm animals, but they were not let out of their confinement until almost noon both mornings we were at the property. We enjoyed sleeping in the little bed in the kitchen and being serenaded to sleep by the coyotes and the owls, but overall the property could use some love and attention, especially for the cost of our stay.

Quaint, charming

My husband and I decided that we just wanted to go on a vacation where we could disconnect and do some writing every day. So we picked Vermont and to stay on this farm, and it was a nice vibe! We enjoyed watching the chickens and goats. The house itself felt pretty spacious. It was hot (went early July), but we mostly wrote in the morning, and decided to leave the house most afternoons to go to nearby Bennington or other small-town attractions, so we avoided the worst of the humidity and heat most days (there's only one window unit air conditioner in the downstairs bedroom). We had trouble with the washer, but it wasn't a big deal, and Susan helped us resolve the issue during our stay. Enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the small waterfall feeding the pond in the backyard at night. Overall, it's good if you want an escape from any hustle and bustle.

Enjoyable Retreat

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sue’s “cabin.” It’s set in a beautiful valley, surrounded by Vermont’s Green Mountains. Bennington is about a 15 minute drive, where there are interesting museums and monuments—and the standard and useful stores. It’s a college town, and so has a number of excellent restaurants and bars. The house itself appears to have been enlarged a few times, so its layout is a bit quirky. You will enter into its dining-kitchen area, with a beautiful and comfortable living room to the right. To its right is the bedroom, entirely comfortable for a stay. (The quite adequate bathroom is to the left of the kitchen.) To our surprise, perhaps our favorite area was “the nook,” a sleeping area for two, elevated off the dining room. It’s got a great mattress, and a big window that lets in a great breeze on our summer evenings. (That window has a blackout curtain if you want to sleep better after sunrise.) One thing to note: both the bedroom and the bathroom are a step down from the cabin’s main area, which might be a problem for a person with mobility issues. The cabin is a bit off the beaten track, but a lovely place to stay for a New England vacation.

Lovely property

We all enjoyed our stay. Our son loved the animals especially their rooster that was very gentle and let Dylan hold him. The goats were precious. Beautiful surroundings. I was able to cook a ham, turkey and prime rib in the oven with no issues. We loved being so close to nature.

My husband and I have been married for 40 years and have 4 grown children who live around the country. We live full time in Delaware, but get to the cabin as often as possible. We have used VRBO many times and enjoy the personal touches that they offer.

We were looking for some land in charming Vermont, when we came upon this slice of heaven. We are so thrilled with the cabin and the area, that we just bought the house next door. We would love to have you experience the wonderful scenery and serenity found here.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Although the cabin is compact, it is comfortable for at least 6 people. There is one bedroom (queen) and a charming, private sleeping nook off of the kitchen (double). It has a large window that looks out over the property and the night sky. Up a steep ladder there are two small areas with 3 twin bds. (Please note, that it is a steep ladder, so not suitable for small children or elderly) In addition to the refreshing outdoor "Flower shower" there is a full indoor bath w tub/shower, laundry facilities and lots of vanity counter space for your toiletries.
The kitchen area is small but we just totally upgraded it. It is well equipped- my husband likes to cook so all the utensils are there, as are serving pieces etc. The eating area seats 6 comfortably, but you may find yourself eating at the picnic table by the pond more often than not.
The wood burning stove is wonderful and the propane Fireplace in the kitchen warms the area very quickly when the house is cold
Feel free to feed the chickens vegetables (no onions or garlic) and maybe they'll reward you with an egg.
Note that this is an active Christmas Tree Farm, so there may be a farmer or two tending to the trees. But no worries you probably won't even notice them if they are there.
