We moved to Asheville in 2005 from Denver, Colorado. We wanted to live out in the country and found our house in a small rural neighborhood south of Asheville. We loved the open floor plan and views of Mt. Pisgah on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Over the years we hosted many parties and overnight guests and received so many positive comments about the house that we decided to try the vacation rental option in 2015. We love Asheville and wanted to continue to use our home so this seemed like the perfect arrangement.
We have worked in the field of natural resources throughout our careers. I enjoyed a 32-year career with the US Forest Service that took me throughout the southeast and Colorado. In 2011 I retired from the National Forests in North Carolina. Bill continues his forestry career mapping forest resources across the US. When we’re not enjoying the Asheville scene, we live on our farm in Georgia. In the foyer is a charcoal sketch done by our daughter of our farm house that Bill built. We have three children and five grandchildren.
Needless to say, Asheville and western North Carolina have been a mecca for us with our lifelong interest in the outdoors. We know some of the best places in the area for outdoor recreation. For instance, we know where you can view up close wild elk in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We can direct you to some of the most outstanding waterfalls in the southeast and places to whitewater raft and kayak. Our favorite spot is Max Patch near the North Carolina/Tennessee border where you can hike a short section of the Appalachian Trail and picnic in an open meadow with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We know you’ll love your visit to Asheville. Your biggest challenge will be deciding what to see and do during your visit. There is such a variety of options! You will want to return time and again to see it all!
