This awesome 2 BR / 1 BA cottage on the shores of Lake Manistee in the heart of Kalkaska county's finest recreation. Great boating, fishing and recreation on the lake or minutes from state land for hunting, miles and miles of ATV and snowmobile trails, and a short drive to the legendary Manistee or AuSable Rivers. Only 20 minutes to Kalkaska or Grayling and about 35 minutes to Traverse City. Dogs (2) allowed under 50 lbs, see rules.

Fun Family Time

Paradise Oaks is just right for our small family!I am so grateful the prices have stayed reasonable so that we can enjoy the space to get away from the busy city life and enjoy things we normally wouldn't get to do!
Even the dog wanted to kayak!

It was great!

The view was amazing! My kids loved the kayaks. The house was stocked with everything you could need and it was clean. It was a great weekend.

Relaxing

Did not receive lock code to get into the cottage, but communication with host quickly resolved that. Cottage was clean and well equipped with everything you would need. Great supply of dishes, pans, spices, and towels. On a quiet street-great for walks. The dock was perfect for our boat. Would definitely recommend!

Weekend Get Away

Property is as described. Has basics that you would need for cooking, towels, utensils. We had a great time using it a a basecamp to shop in Traverse City and Petoskey. We would return to stay right there and not leave the property another time.

Loved it

Loved our stay, house was beautiful and CLEAN! Lake is great for young swimmers as it's pretty shallow. Can catch fish right off the dock. House had a lot of useful amenities. Property manager was easy to get in contact with. Will be returning in the future

Great Lakeview

We loved the property, all the pictures on the site are just as you see it. We really missed our view of the lake once we got home. It was very relaxing, the kitchen has just about everything you need for cooking. We fished off the dock but only caught four two inch bass that we tossed back in. We used the kayak in the garage which was handy. We took walks around the area every day. There is a park up the road with toys and boat launch. There is a nice little store down the road that we did order a pizza one evening. It's not far from town and we did go to Traverse City for the day. It's a great size for 4 people to stay they do have bunk beds and another bed in one room. The master bedroom has a nice picture window with a view to the lake. It's a nice lake for the kids to swim it goes out gradually. We loved our vacation! One thing I would like to add is make sure all your garbage is in a bag for the garbage man to take. Once they came we noticed half was still in the cage. We had all of ours bagged up but some was left behind from over a month ago so my husband had work gloves and put all the loose items in one bag for the next pickup. From Jackson, MI

Very cute cottage! location was great for our needs. Lake access wasn't the greatest for us older folks lots of weeds and rocks to climb over to get into water not to mention the dogs. They do have a nice dock, however not good for dogs to get up on we managed. Kinda disappointed. Also bathroom was yuk. Toilet looked like it needed work Very loose and dirty. Shower moldy. As a former Airbnb owner it could use a good scrubbing and maintenance outside. Otherwise perfect.

Property was as described. Utensils and eating utensils were dirty. When I saw this I washed everything before use. Communication with property manager was ok. He does not elaborate and does not get back in a timely manner with questions about the property. He said there were no kayaks but there were 2 in the garage and the paperwork inside the cabin said they were available for use. We had a half roll of toilet paper when we arrived and there was no more to be found, in the closet, under sink. We had some with us and then found some in the garage. Contacted the manager and he said he would check with the cleaners, still haven’t heard back but 2 days later there was a case in the closet. The cottage was very cute and convenient especially to the park near by. Neighbors weren’t friendly, and you are very close to them. It was a nice visit all in all. Definitely quiet and peaceful with a nice view.

Beautiful setting

A beautiful setting to enjoy a long needed vacation. The cabin is well stocked and has everything you need. All the comforts of home, but in a lakeside cabin in the woods. Kayaked on the lake several times. Even tried my hand at fishing. Also went to Mackinac island, the UP, and Traverse City. Lakes abound in the area with quant towns. The owner and property manager were extremely accommodating and responsive. Also did a couple of hikes in the area- a couple nature reserves, gorgeous- not long and very well maintained. Also, the sunrise is worth getting up a little early to see. Breathtaking. The cabin is well stocked with wood for the fire pit. The grocery stores in the area have all you’ll need if you decide to cook. There’s a little beach park next to the property that has a small beach and picnic tables.

Okay- but a little miss represented

Cute place, but when talking with property manager I asked if there was Air Conditioning- he said yes. In all actuality there was not. I tried texting him but he was in responsive and then when he did respond he was not helpful. Also horrible fishing lake. They said you can catch fish off the dock but there was none. Very shallow mucky lake.

Only three feet deep at end of dock, perfect for granddaughter.

Shallow lake average about three to five feet deep. Some areas little deeper, there is a hole about 16 foot deep. Cottage was great, all u need for a great vacation. The kyacks were a big plus for the kids. Would rent again if no more than six would be in the party. Six is max for this cottage.

Paradise Oaks - aptly named!

This place couldn't have been more perfect for my wife and I to have a rest and recovery type of vacation. It was quiet, relaxing, comfortable and clean. It was stocked with everything we needed, and the use of the kayaks was an extra bonus that we took great advantage of. If you stay here, be sure to get up at sunrise. The sun coming up over the lake is beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful week!

Darling Cottage

Our thank you to the owner for sharing their little gem of a cottage! Everything you could need is provided for you. We appreciated the cleanliness! The view is beautiful! Only drawback was poor communication from property manager. I had asked him for info 2 days before our trip and was still awaiting how to access property the night before we were leaving and had to contact him, once again. This is not acceptable. I noticed this has been an issue in the past. Other than dealing with this, our stay was wonderful.
