Beachfront Cottage on Ambajejus Lake With Sandy Beach and a Mountain View

We welcome you to enjoy our fully furnished 1 bedroom plus loft lakefront cottage located on Ambajejus Lake with a beautiful view of Jo Mary Mountain, just 10 miles away from Baxter State Park. Our cottage is situated steps away from the sandy beach. Take pleasure in a sandy bottom entry for wading or swimming and a great sunny beach for relaxing. Enjoy your meals on the covered deck, complete with gas grill, or at the picnic table on the beach. Our cottage also includes an equipped kitchen with stove/oven, full-sized refrigerator, toaster, microwave, crockpot and Keurig single serve coffee maker. The first floor bedroom includes a queen bed. The loft includes a double-sized bed. The living area offers a double-sized pull out couch with a beautiful lake view and a TV for watching the DVD player (a selection of DVDs is included). Sheets, pillows, bath towels and kitchen towels are all included. Guests should bring their own beach towels. There is a washer and dryer on site. Your well-behaved dog is always welcome! Guests should be aware there is limited cell phone services at the cabin. New for the 2024 season is the addition of free WiFi. Enjoy dining at the nearby Knife Edge Brewing, Big Moose Inn (Loose Moose Bar & Grille and Fredericka’s Restaurant) and River Driver’s Restaurant & Pub. The North Woods Trading Post is known for being the closest convenience store to Baxter Park and Katahdin and offers made-to-order sandwiches, gears of all kind, souvenirs, food and drinks. Less than 10 miles from the cottage, in Millinocket, guests can also enjoy dining at the Scootic In Restaurant or Sawmill Bar and Grill. There is also a grocery store with a pharmacy.

Beautiful spot, wonderful hosts! Great to stay in a cozy cottage on a gorgeous mountain lake, and to use as a base camp for adventures at Baxter, Katahdin, or if you're equipped for it, a jaunt to see the ghost trains. Hope to be back next year.

Cute cabin with incredible view of lake. Spend days fishing on river, hiking Baxter or driving around – stopped at Knife Edge brewer and had dinner. Excellent pizza and lobster bisque. Cabin is snug and fit the two of us well. Washer and dryer was a godsend and kitchen well stocked. One thing to note is there is no where to put clothes upstairs in loft, for multiple night stay this could be a tad inconvenient.

We had an incredible stay! The views of the lake and mountains from the cabin were amazing! Great fishing off the shoreline. Perfect location to stay if you plan on exploring Baxter or the rest of what the area has to offer. Our host was very helpful and quick to respond to our questions. Overall an amazing trip... we'd love to return someday!

The sunsets here are amazing. The tranquility is refreshing. The modest accommodations provide the perfect combination of comfort and feeling of being in the North Maine woods. While there’s plenty of nature to enjoy in nearby Baxter State Park, you could spend days and days without leaving the cabin, just soaking in the beauty, peace and quiet, and charm of the cabin. We’ve spent a week here on 3 different vacations now and don’t plan on stopping the tradition. It’s the perfect getaway for a family in these crazy busy times. Thank you, Carol, for sharing your little slice of heaven!!

We had the most incredible weather here at the beginning of October and practically had the lake to ourselves. Beautiful sunsets and interesting birds too. This rustic camp was perfect for our Northern Maine getaway.

Another wonderful stay

The weather cooperated and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the beach and swimming in the lake. The cabin is well-appointed, so we didn't need to bring anything but food and drinks.
