At the southern terminus of Pacific Coast Highway midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. A few miles South of Laguna Beach and 3 miles from Historic Mission San Juan Capistrano. My place is close to the beach with great views, restaurants and dining, parks, arts and culture, dana point harbor, many resorts and golf. You’ll love my place because of the location, the view, the peace and quiet and comfort. My place is good for couples, business travelers, and families (with older children). Weekend Review

Property was exactly what we needed for the weekend. The location was peaceful and welcoming, and the beach being a walk away was convenient. Communication was smooth and responsive. Would recommend for anyone looking to rent!

Wedding trip

Our stay was wonderful and home is very clean and very nice location. 2 bedrooms are pretty small with too big of dressers and hard to manu er with suitcase. Also need an extra chair in dining room for table. Otherwise everything else was excellent and enjoyed having beach chairs and umbrellas and towels for the beach!! I would highly recommend this place!!!

Amazing

This was our second time staying at this property. The neighborhood is amazing and scenic. It's a walk to Doheny Beach and shops. The house itself is incredible. We will be staying again!

Castle by the Sea says it all

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Castle by the Sea! The home was in excellent condition with beautiful decor, exactly as represented in the photos. The location was perfect -- close to the beach and restaurants, and only a quick drive away from other main attractions in the area. During our stay, we spent time in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, but Dana Point was by far our favorite — more scenic, less crowded. The owner Cary was very accommodating and responsive. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

Dana Castle by the Sea was Excellent!

My adult family and I stayed at the property in Jun/Jul 2023. We found the owner, Cary, to be really helpful and accommodating. He provided easy instructions to access the property before and when we first arrived. He also dealt with any issues during our stay really quickly, which all added to how much we enjoyed our holiday. The property was clean, spacious and comfortable and we would not hesitate to stay again in the future.

Beautiful Home with Everything You Need!

Cary was an incredible host! The Castle by the Sea was such an incredible place to stay. The nautical touches made this stay even more enjoyable. Our group spent time cooking and the kitchen was very well equiped. The living room couch was such a comfy place to hang out! We really enjoyed the balconies for a quiet way to enjoy the mornings. You can really see all of the thought that went into this lovely home, and I know you will love your stay! We sure did! Cary was great to work with! 10/10 would recommend!

Interesting house. Lots of stairs though.

It was a nice house, though the shower window in the master needs a curtain. Some of the doors don't stay latched. Better lighting needed in bathrooms. Whoever cleans needs to do a better job sweeping under the couch. I was thrilled to see lots of books and DVDs to choose from. I would stay there again though. It was well worth it. Host was very nice.

The Castle by the Sea in Dana Point was a perfect choice for our family group of 5 while attending a wedding in San Juan Capistrano. The neighborhood is super charming, each house makes full use of their steep lots and the result is a series of decks ascending up the hill behind the houses. We had a lot of fun trying them all out. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a nicely kitted out kitchen. The decor I would describe as "favorite great uncle's house" with big dark comfy furniture, antique lithographs of steamships on the Mississippi River, some old family photos nicely framed, and a cupboard fully of history books. Cary was an excellent host. We encountered one issue during our stay when the speaker system started playing country music although none of us was connected. He was by in under 5 minutes to turn it off. Thanks for sharing your house, we enjoyed it immensely.

Awesome kitchen, fully stocked. Would not recommend for small children unless you bring gates for the many areas with stairs, but other than that, the home was tremendous! The owner, Cary, went way out of his way to deliver a bag we had left behind with my husband's medicine and hearing-aid charger. Items he desperately needed. Cary is our hero.

Stayed here for my daughter’s wedding and it was perfect. Nice sized rooms, kitchen well stocked and lots of balconies to hangout in. The location was great. It was close to the beach and venue. There are lots of stairs which we were fine with but did get a workout. Our host was also very responsive when I had questions.

Great property for a family vacation! Starting with the couch in the family room, so comfy! Kitchen has everything you need and my wife loved the fridge! Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms are great! And finally, our son loved the putting green! 5 min drive from the beach and great restaurants all around! Weill definitely come back again!

Every aspect of our booking, from the pre-trip communication with Cary to the home was fantastic. The amenities were top notch. Plenty of towels, coffee making options and supplies, as well as bottled water and welcome wine! The beds were comfortable, the showers had plenty of hot water and the decor was beautiful. While the driveway was definitely steep, it was not too long and there really weren't tons of steps as we feared based on a previous review. Certainly, if you have significant mobility problems the assortment of stairs might present a problem, but no issues for us average folks. Cary was great to work with and the location was excellent. Easy walking distance to a number of restaurants, bars and the state beaches. We had family staying at the Best Western which was a 5 min walk, and this was a better dealfor us to have our adult daughter along and get to spend time together when in town for a wedding. We would not hesitate to book here again!
