Up Country Vibe But Just a Few Minutes From the Water!
Open air, rustic lodging affords a feeling of living in up-country Kona coffee country but you're only three or four minutes from the water! Modest appointments and limited amenities adds to the up country feel of this charming, and hospitable, private, open-air cottage. Authentic "Hawaiian-style" accommodations ideally located near Captain Cook, 2-Step, and sweet Napo`opo`o Park.
Extreme Paradise
I cannot say enough about our stay. After spending a few days running around Oahu this was a much needed vacation from that vacation! The views from the deck were so amazing. I enjoyed waking up before dawn to listening to the waves crashing on the shore down below. I couldn't wait to return every evening to see the sunsets too. I will cherish the memories from this vacation forever. Thanks Michael and Gus for sharing your beautiful property!
Thanks for the lovely review, it makes me so happy that you enjoyed your visit. I really strive for every guest to enjoy the house and the bay as much as as possible.
Tropical paradise
We really enjoyed our week-long stay. The property owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The cottage was amazing! It felt like we were in the treetops. Nature is right there since it's a mostly outdoor so be prepared to share some space with geckos. Waking up to the sunrise and the birds chirping is what you expect being in Hawaii. The room was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, location was lush and idyllic and the view of the ocean was awesome!
Amazing stay yet again
We continue to be enamored with this property having stayed here for the second time. We love everything about this place. The view from the lanai is breathtaking. Cooking in the kitchen and/or on the grill is awesome. The shower and the views are amazing. We are so thankful to have been able to stay here again. Mahalo!
Gecko gazing to your heart's content!
We stayed 14 nights in September. We wish we had stayed longer. The minute we arrived and started up the stairs, we felt a shift. We were hooked on the energy of the place, hooked on the tree top view overlooking the bay, hooked on the fragrant, colorful garden. The only chirps, tweets, hoots, whistles and clicks we heard were from nature, not someone's device. We embraced all of it, unpacked and settled in. Most of our days were spent walking to Manini beach or the pier where we snorkled or floated on the waves. We kayaked twice using two different companies located along the bay. On our first kayak crossing, we were greeted by spinner dolphins! (The snorkeling was amazing near the monument.) We did manage a few day trips north, south and over to Hilo area to snorkle. Yet always we couldn't wait to get back to "our" cottage. The location on Kealakekua Bay is perfect and especially quiet. Choice Mart grocery store is a short drive away in the town of Captain Cook and has really great food and drink choices for all your cooking needs. The Sunday Farmer's Market in the town was fun and we had a chance to talk to the locals and buy some island fruits, vegies and breads. We did make a stop in Kona one evening which caused us to get back to the cottage after sunset. What a surprise to flip on the light at the bottom of the stairs and have our path sofly lit, making the place seem all the more magical. We loved cooking our meals in the outdoor kitchen and eating at the front deck with our gecko and bird friends. The bathroom space offers a spa-like experience. You'll want to stay in the shower much longer than needed since the view out the open window deserves your time and attention. The shower is amazing and thoughtfully designed with earth tone stones at your feet and flowing up the wall. I loved it! There's even an island mosaic on the bathroom floor giving you a birds' eye view of your place on the island. Mahalo to Michael and Gus for creating a trully enchanting tropical oasis. And Mahalo to Marlien, the property manager, who is the Aloha spirit in human form! A hui hou!
Beautiful, quiet setting in the trees
Very cool place nestled up in the trees. The view of the bay was beautiful and the bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The floors throughout the place was also very clean even though it's exposed to the outside elements. The bathroom was very nice, although there were some bugs, it wasn't a problem. We were also there in Sept, so it may have been peak bug season. Most importantly it all felt very clean. The owner was very nice and responsive. The kitchen was nice to use and you had a view through the bedroom windows, so you could still see the bay from the kitchen. The whole place was very nicely designed and we will definitely be staying there again when we come back.
