Home away from home!

My husband and I loved our 2-night stay at Bear Cabin during Memorial Day weekend and highly recommend it for future guests!

It felt like HOME away from home and we will definitely recommend Bear Cabin to others! We love to stay in cabins during vacations and I will proudly say that I cannot think of a cabin I have liked more than Bear Cabin. I believe that our totally blind / mostly deaf dog enjoyed her stay, also!

We stayed with our dogs to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. The wrap around porch had a gate to contain our dogs that was great. The cabin was nice and had everything we needed. The cabin is in a great location to go to Murphy, Blue Ridge and several other towns. We enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location was a great home base as we traveled about enjoying the fall colors and area waterfalls. The gated porch was ideal for our dog Hunny. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment. We would stay again.

This was our second stay here and will continue to be our top choice when we're in the Murphy area. Close enough to everything, while still feeling far enough away from the hustle.

Great location...very cozy accomodations!

July Stay

Nice and peaceful stay in the mountains. Only issues to note is the dishwasher did not clean the dishes very well and there were several wasp nests around the porch that gave us a not so warm welcome.

From the owner: "Thank you for your review. It is always great to hear how peaceful and relaxing Bear Cabin is… and we couldn’t agree more. We will review the dishwasher, it has multiple settings and we will ensure it cleans as expected. The wasps are certainly not friendly, but keep coming back seasonally… they also like the peaceful atmosphere, we will ensure we move them on if they do not pay their fair share."

Quiet Cabin

This was my second time at the Bear Cabin and look forward to many more. My Golden Retrievers love running around the yard and trying to chase the wildlilfe. I like the porch being gated off so I didn't have to worry about them wondering off.

Clean and cozy

Property was well maintained, nice decorative touches for the holidays. Also, easiest check out procedure I’ve ever encountered. So many properties make you go through a large checklist of things before check out, but this was simple and quick, so I appreciated that aspect very much. Would recommend.

Fireplace doesn't work

A cabin without a fireplace just isn't the same. It has one but it doesn't work. I called the given number and the guy told me it hasn't worked for over a year. My girl and I were very disappointed over this! Other than the the cabin is very nice.

Owner's response: Dean, We work hard to provide a clean and comfortable home for all our guests to be able to enjoy, rest and relax. - The fireplace works great when you understand the directions on how to get it started. We provide very specific instructions in our welcome book they include a step-by-step process. When you called you were not told it hadn't worked for over a year they told you it had not been started this season because it hadn't been cold enough. We're sorry you misunderstood this. - We were very disappointed in the way you treated our home, you did not clean up after your pets and left several things in disarray costing us additional fees for an additional deep cleaning. We only ask that our guests treat our home with respect and leave it the way they found it. We are confident that future guests will have excellent stays! We will continue to deliver for the 5-star experiences we are known for.

We were very pleased with the cabin. It is absolutely beautiful. Our host was very attentive to when we called him about a few things. The only thing is we’re older people. We don’t understand the streaming TV so we were limited to what we could see very easy location to find and access highways and if we decide to come back up to the mountains, we will probably rent it again. Thank you for letting us share your home.
