Popolana” – Unit 2 – is our one and only oceanfront studio condominium located just 100 feet from the water's edge in the heart of Hana. This beautifully appointed unit features a full kitchen, warm tropical décor with bamboo walls and rattan furnishings, a queen bed, granite countertops and hardwood floors. The stunning view is showcased by a glass wall and lanai overlooking Hana Bay.

Just eight miles away, the pools at Oheo Gulch (“seven pools”) offer great scenery and refreshing swimming in Haleakala National Park-Kipahulu. We loved this studio apartment. We sat on the lanai every day overlooking the beautiful, secluded rocky beach. We honestly loved the view so much we did not want to leave.

Great location. There is only one bar/restaurant in town, so if you’re going for social life, this is not the place. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The deck is awesome. Would gladly return.

We enjoyed our stay on the black beach edge, with the soothing sound of the waves and stunning ocean views. Our place was beautifully decorated. We had a perfect spot as a base to explore the sights of East Maui

Great location in Hana, right on the beach (surfing, not swimming). Sunrise views are perfect.

Exactly as advertised. 3 minute drive to swimming h beach. For us it was a perfect 2 night stopover to make the Road To Hana experience that much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Great Studio in Hana

Fantastic cozy studio in Hana. Outstanding deck and views of the ocean! Everything was as advertised. Smallest unit in building, but fine for one or two nights. Communication with property management was great. Close to everything in and around Hana, and right on the ocean!

A true Hana gem

We live on Maui and have stayed in Hana many times, but never at the Hana Kai...and it definitely won't be our last time! From the moment you walk in and see the view right over the water, to the cute and clean decor, this place had it all. Not to mention it was fully stocked, even more than other places we've stayed at. I absolutely will return and recommend others to as well!

Peace in Paradise

Watch the sunrise from the lanai and then walk a few steps to the black sand beach. Literally, like 30 steps. Soak in the quiet and peace. The condo was really clean and extra pillows, towels, etc. we’re easily available. Perfect home base to explore Hana without stressing about the drive back down. This is hands down one of my favorite places to stay while we’re on island

Amazing location, adjust your expectations for this pricey room.

This unit is right on a rock/sand beach but we never ventured into the water because it looks dangerous. The crashing of the waves at night were loud and we were able to keep the sliding glass doors open which was great for sleeping. There is no TV , two small dorm room size fridges and the unit is quite small at 400+ square feet. The lanai seemingly doubles the living space and was a very nice place to hang out. The price seems high but there aren't many options in Hana. The staff was very accomodating and made us feel welcome. Don't come in with high expectations or you might be disappointed.

Great location to see more of the Road to Hana

We had a great time at the Hana Kai. It’s a perfect spot to do the Road to Hana at a more relaxed pace. The view from the room was delightful and the kitchen had everything we needed. We will definitely stay at the Hana Kai again.

Beautiful Hana Base

My husband and I had a wonderful 2 night stay in Hana to break up the RTH drive & stops. This condo was the perfect halfway base. The sunrise is gorgeous here, a great way to start the day enjoying coffee on the lanai. Access & parking & check in is a breeze, especially if checking in after the office is closed, they’ll leave the keys map & info in a lockbox for you. For a late dinner after the food trucks close, we recommend the Preserve Kitchen & Bar at nearby hotel open til 9 & delicious. The condo is clean, organized, stocked with essentials, the bed is comfortable & the space is just enough for a couple day pit stop. Just a half hour from the Pipiwai Trail & minutes from Hana Farms & Wainapanapa. Would recommend!

Quiet and Romantic

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was an amazing place to stay while doing the road to Hana and enjoying a slower pace of living. The living space is beautifully decorated and the view of the beach and bay was spectacular. We loved the lanai and were out there almost all the time. The sunsets and sunrises here were truly special, especially if you hike up to Fagan's Cross at sunrise. Staying here allowed us to truly experience the road to Hana at our own pace, giving us more time to explore this beautiful part of Maui and relax at the same time. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Truly an unforgettable experience!

Amazing location

Sitting on the covered deck, watching the waves crash down on the unique black rock beach, watching sea turtles from the lava rock outcrop to the right as you look off the porch, being lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf hitting and peacefully dragging the black rocks on the beach. A truly unique spot! Bring conditioner, shampoo, and body wash. There are games to play, two mini refrigerators, all the kitchen gadgets you need including cork screw and wine glasses

Most Beautiful View!

Amazing location on beautiful Hana Bay. Nice condo for two people. Balcony overlooks the shoreline. We would definitely stay here again.

So peaceful

This was the calmest part of our 2 week trip. We loved being able to just look out from the lanai to the black sand beach. It was nice to be able to stay on the road to Hana and really see the area. It was great having a little kitchen to make our own meals. Highly recommend staying here.

Hana Kai Amazed Us!

Our stay at Hana Kai was beyond expectations! A beautiful condo so close to the ocean. It was more than we ever imagined and so great to stay in Hana. We had the opportunity to explore this incredible area in more depth than the average visitor. You are missing out if you don’t spend a little extra time here!

Property was clean and well-stocked. The amenities were excellent, and the view beautiful! Perfect stop to rest up at the end of The Road to Hana, so we could explore the Southern sites the next day. Would recommend to everyone!

All of our units are individually owned with decor unique to each unit. The majority of our owners have been with us for over 20 years! Hana No Ka Oi (Hana is the best)!. Our property manager, Susie has been with us 20 years. Like Hana, our staff is predominantly Hawaiian; born and raised in Hana and we are ohana.

Our rental group operates 17 of the 19 units on property (units 102 & 207 operate separately and may not have the same standards and amenities). Owners work together to keep a high uniform standard in each room.
