By appointment, and extra charge. 2 mountain bikes, tandem, and female cruiser (not available winter). A two person JACUZZI TUB, with a TV, for viewing while you are lying in the tub. Pour water on the rocks of the HOT ROCK SAUNA, to make steam. Belgium Waffle Machine and Snow Cone Machine. Enjoy a FULL-SIZE PACMAN ARCADE MACHINE (w/ 60 games from the 1980s) CRUSIN U.S.A ( with steering wheel and gas pedal ). Golden Tee Golf Machine/Road Kings Pinball/ Play Station 4/ Wac-A-Mole. 2-person basketball game with 7-inch basketballs, 2 hoops and electronic scoreboard. A Ping Pong Table. The games are all free and good for rainy days. 2 Paddle Boards, 2 solo Kayaks, 1 tandem kayak/Surf Boards,( Summer only), and Bean Bag Toss- Cornhole and Spike Ball Games for the beach. Free Soda machine w/ 4 flavors, Belgium waffle, Shaved ice and Popcorn machines, 3 types of Coffee machines and coffee grinder. View the wildlife in the wilderness next to the rental at our feeding station during the daytime or on your TV through a night vision camera.

This unit has panoramic views of the lake and dunes and is surrounded by wilderness on 2 sides of an unused park. There is nothing between you and the fine, sandy beach except a short walk down the footpath through the sand dunes to the lake. The sand is so fine that when you drag your feet, it actually squeaks. Access the hot tub or the BBQ on the deck or stay inside and listen to the soothing sounds of Lake Michigan’s surf ( when the waves are up) and the songs of the crickets in the dunes. Let the sounds lull you to sleep. The master bedroom features a king-size/four-poster bed. This is a 5-star accommodation at an awesome, natural 5-star location. Beach chairs are provided.

Affordable (considering the beach location and many amenities), spacious, and beautiful, quick walk to the lake! The property is not perfect, but it has character, and it is a great value for what you get. We would return.

Great little getaway

My family and I had a great time staying at the beach house. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved the arcade games and the hot tub. It was very easy to communicate with the owner. Great beach access, just wish it was a little warmer :)

Nice Spot!

Wife and I wanted a week to just be secluded with a good location, and we really enjoyed this place! Lots to do, but also still home-y enough that you could just relax. Very good location, close to the beach, very nice vibe. We loved it and would definitely come back!

All-too-brief Get-a-way!

Overall, the stay was very enjoyable. The unit was very comfortable, with everything one might need. The Manager, Mark, was very attentive & personable! We enjoyed him greatly. The only caution is the walkway & narrow stairs up to the unit that can be a challenge for anyone with balance issues, & while carrying items such as suitcases or groceries.

Love Nature and the Beach

This property gives you the serene feeling of nature and all the vibes of the beach. The host, Mark, was exceptional. Everything you can imagine is provided. Being in the hot tub on a cool night and looking over the lake was the best experience.

Close to the beach. House was as advertized

The house was clean and close to the beach. The furniture is getting a bit used. Couch had a smell of people. But plenty to do at the house and the kitchen was perfect

Great location during COVID lockdown

We did not know that Michigan City would be on lockdown during our stay when I booked this lakeside 2nd floor apt. We were not allowed in most public areas including the beach but with our own private beach access we could enjoy the lake at our leisure.

Beach getaway

Our family of 4 (two 11-year olds) had so much fun here! We were the only ones at “our part” of the beach most of the time. The rental was the second floor of the beach house. We could hear our upstairs neighbors sometimes but nothing disruptive! Everything was clean, we had plenty of clean towels. The beds were SO COMFY. The massage chair was a hit for all of us. I do wish we’d have been able to text the host with questions. We would stay here again!

Amazing View

It's a nice spot right on the lake, perfect to stroll down to the beach or sit in the hot tub and look out on water If it's cold. If it's rainy out, the place is stocked with games - including pinball. The place isn't big, but maximizes every inch and the furniture is super comfortable. The only real downside was communication - it's all over the phone. No text or email.

Birthday weekend

For the money we paid we felt it to be lacking. We were told how private our stay would be and how we could hear the waves coming in. Our deck overlooked a lot of junk, very weeded up. Pinball machine in apt did not work. Woke to water coming out of ceiling soaking carpet from guests above us. The entrance to our beach apt was cluttered and not made for someone with trouble walking stairs are steep and wood. At 1200.00 for 2 nights I expect the room to have wash cloths in it not have to call someone in California to get them. Owner out of state was attentive but maintenance man caring for property was lacking. We thought we would have a good view of the lake but that was not accurate. We were told there was a snow cone machine in room. Never saw that. Overall just felt the vrbo description was over the top. It was plain simple apt nothing stood out. Some people might love it but it was not for us.

Mostly a good experience

The place matched the description and suited our needs. The kitchen was fully stocked and it was spacious. The owner was personable and responsive and you can tell that he takes feedback because he wasn’t gruff at all like past reviews stated. The big problem is that the sheets in one of the bedrooms obviously hadn’t been changed because there was sand on the sheets. When I called the owner, he was confused that we were even using that bedroom since there were only 3 of us (me, my adult child and my teenager) and lingered on that. The hot tub and pinball machine weren’t working, but this was over New Years so it’s understandable that he couldn’t get anyone out to fix them. He offered us use of the hot tub from the downstairs unit, but we ended up skipping it. The game room had a lot of choices but it only had half of the games that were supposed to be there. My main concern with that was that someone might think that we’d taken them. The massage chair was wonderful and perfect after long walks on the beach. The patio was perfect for watching storms over the lake. The fireplace made the living room cozy. The sauna and jacuzzi were also great for January. It was easy to find the place based on the directions and parking was fine. Everything was so quiet and peaceful and we even saw deer at night while walking the dog. Beware that the downstairs property manager has two dogs and they could get barky, so I had to get my dog out so he didn’t respond. Overall a good experience and the location is perfect, so we’d come back.

Overall the stay was fine. We rented it because of the great reviews but really did not feel like it lived up to them at all. Definitely not a “5” star unit. It is shown as a “house” which is misleading- this unit is the 2nd level of a 3 story house. The owner & maintenance guy live directly below with their 7 well behaved dogs and there is a separate rental directly above on the 3rd floor. Separate entrances via stairwell but not what we were expecting. You can hear the people above moving around. You have to walk beside the lower unit windows and back area to get to the beach- we felt a little uncomfortable with that. Inside the unit was very dated. The carpet is mismatched, stained and very old, couches were horrible (both of us had back pain after the first few days), kitchen was not really set up for real cooking but had plenty of plates & pots/pans, no basic supplies in the kitchen (no foil, plastic wrap, salt/pepper or any spices, limited utensils, etc). Bathrooms all had timers on the lights- very strange & frustrating when the lights turn off while showering. Hot tub was nice but hard to remove cover and is a 2 person unit - no way 4 adults could fit in it. Deck is narrow and was actually leaning down in front, making us hesitant to use it. Listing says max of 4 people, which is all that could fit in the unit but there are 3 bdrms and a total of 5 beds plus a sofa bed - not sure whats up with that. The positive things were that it is close to get to the beach (walk over the dunes directly behind the house) & the full size Pac-Man arcade unit in the 3rd bdrm was a blast to play. We didn’t use the sauna but it looked like a good one (its located in the living room). The owner was accommodating but we were uncomfortable having him there all the time - kind of felt like we were being watched.

Not as described, disappointing overall

It was great to be located so close to the beach, and be able to see a bit of it from the balcony. However, the unit is lacking in some ways. It was very clean, but outdated. It should be noted that this is not an entire house, but the 2nd floor apartment of a 3 floor house. The property itself is rather unkempt and messy. Also, the description states that it is "surrounded by wilderness", which was misleading, as it is VERY, VERY close to other houses, In a very chaotic looking, crowded neighborhood. In fact just as we were parking the car, right next to the entrance, a person was getting out of a hot tub, in the nude, just a few feet in front of us. We don't know what property this hot tub belonged to, since the houses are so close together. The AC Is set at 72 degrees as the thermostat is locked. When my husband asked the owner if it could be adjusted he said it could not. It was very warm and stuffy as it got to true summer weather last weekend, and we had much trouble sleeping. We chose to stay in the smaller queen bedroom, because it was the only room in the house that had a ceiling fan. It was still too warm and uncomfortable to sleep, that we purchased a box fan the next day to place in the bedroom, and this brought a little relief. We were disappointed to not be able to use the king master bedroom that had the view and attached bathroom, even through it was just the 2 of us. We did not use the hot tub, since it was so uncomfortably warm, but we were still charged those specific additional fees. I don't know if these fees are typically reimbursed in situations like that, as this was only our second stay booked through VRBO. The Keurig machine did not work, which likely the owner would have addressed had we contacted him about it, but it wasn't worth the trouble, since he does not accept text messages and insisted on only using the landline to call him, and also seemed to expect us to wait to answer his calls on the landline in the unit. When we did speak to him, upon arrival and the next morning, he was very short and a bit rude, not at all pleasant to speak to. This is the first time I have ever written a negative review, but the accommodations were so disappointing in view of the cost. I hope that this honest feedback is helpful to the host and potential guests.

Perfect spot for our family. The location and access to the beach was wonderful, and we saw a lot of wildlife from the back deck while sitting in the hot tub. The kids really enjoyed playing all of the games inside, which was perfect since the weather was a little cooler. And the host was very responsive.

Nice spot

This property is the middle floor of a 3 flat. Had all the stuff to keep my kids entertained. Beach was amazing. Not a lot of privacy, you basically share the lobby and outdoor toys with the other renters of the flat. Property guy stays on the 1st floor and comes out to work on stuff. Kind of weird.
