Best VRBO experience

Everything about our stay was top notch. The house is newly remodeled and everything was clean and fresh. We had a great time hanging out on the giant back patio and playing games around the large dining room table. The view of the river with the mountain behind it was breathtaking. Nat is a great owner who really cared that we had a perfect stay in his beautiful home. He was proactive with his communication and made sure we knew he'd be there if any issues arose.

Super Hiking near Buckanan

Property is set on a gorgeous lot overlooking a mountain. The house is comfortable, clean, and stocked with all necessary items. We cooked most meals in and relaxed on the oversized deck swing. Our days were spent hiking. We managed 2 5-hour hikes. We liked the Little Cove Mountain/AT trial better than the Flat Top Mountain trail because it had more interesting areas and better views. Next time, we want to include kayaking (we were a bit too early in the season on this visit). Overall, great location, great property, and perfect for outdoor adventures.

Nice stay in Buchanan

Fantastic Fall Getaway

We felt like we were at home, only better. The porch swing was a big hit with the entire family - perfect for enjoying a gorgeous view. Very well stocked kitchen. This was a great place for us for parents weekend at VMI. We enjoyed exploring Buchanan and the James River. We’ll definitely be back!

Charming River House

This was my second extended stay in this beautiful house. This home has everything that I need for a very comfortable stay. From booking, to checking in, and communicating with the owner who checks in just to ensure that everything is great. Honestly, the house could not be more perfect. We will absolutely return for another visit soon.

GREAT place to stay

This property was perfect and the location was great and so close to The Virginia Safari Park. We enjoyed swinging on the back porch and enjoying the view and back yard.

The River House

The River House is in a quant little town and is within walking distance to several cafes. The house was clean and well stocked. Nat was very helpful and responded quickly. The views from the house are absolutely beautiful.

Great weekend getaway

This was a fantastic weekend getaway. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked for our family of four and three friends. The house is conveniently located near Natural Bridge. We enjoyed canoeing and hiking. The covered porch was also great for relaxing in the evening. Highly recommended for family vacations!

Peaceful Getaway

We spent Thanksgiving here and it was the perfect fit for a quick getaway from the hustle of Northern Virginia. The listing is as described. The kitchen was outfitted for all of our cooking needs, including sharp knives! The place was completely renovated so everything was clean and felt very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and we enjoyed some local hiking. The owner was great at communicating, answering any questions, and informing of us local restaurants and things to do. Would for sure go back again when looking to get away for a couple days.

Great, clean house!

Met some buddies for a golf trip, this house was in great condition, slept all four adults comfortably and had some nice hang out areas. The owner is a great host and offered a lot of details about the home and the local area. Will stay here again!

Location to Chill

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed for a weekend to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. Home was very clean and completely updated. Home is convenient to Lexington, hiking and Blue Ridge Parkway. Good dining options only a short drive away. Can also walk to a few dining options in town. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay in the Shenandoah Valley.

Absolutely Amazing Weekend - THIS House is a large reason why!

Perfect house and most gracious host! Thank you, Nat for a wonderful weekend visit to Buchanan, Virginia. We took advantage of all of your recommendations - hiked, tubed, ate well; but, most of all we loved being in your beautiful home! We very much enjoyed the large swing, well equipped kitchen, super comfy beds and all of the little touches that made us feel right at home in this town that means so much to us. Beautiful remodeled home

The James River is about 125 yards out the back porch. Beautiful property. Nat was incredibly responsive both at the time of reservation and during the stay.

Great Vacation/Birthday Weekend

We traveled in to celebrate our son’s birthday who lives in Roanoke, Virginia. He was able to stay with us and we went fishing and just enjoyed time together at this great property. The house has everything you need. We would definitely book this property again.

Cozy Relaxing and Modern Cabin

We loved our stay. The view is breathtaking, the house is very comfortable and the city is adorable! Can’t wait to go back in the summer. My pup had a wonderful time playing outdoor by the fire pit, and my toddler enjoyed running on the huge yard and watching the train go by at the foot of the mountain! Nat was a great host, very responsive and helpful!!

A Home Away from Home

We love staying at the River Cottage when visiting family in the area. The porch and backyard are my favorite things about the cottage. It is so delightful to gather there for visiting, relaxing and grilling. The kitchen is large and a pleasure to work in. The beds are very comfortable. The owners provide many "extras" that often are not included in rental homes which is quite generous and convenient.

Bi-Annual fishing trip to Virginia

Memorial Day Getaway

We enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day weekend at this charming property. The porch is great, and we got to watch the sunset over the river. The property is fully stocked with everything you need, and communication with the owner is excellent. He recommended some great hikes in the area. The house is very comfortable, and we all slept great. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again!

We fell in love with the Town of Buchanan where the James River meets the Blue Ridge Mountains. A perfect getaway for family and friends to enjoy the outdoors and a small town experience. Newly renovated, this cottage will be one you won't forget!

This house is comfortable for family and friends and renovated with the guests in mind. While the bedrooms are small in size, the mattresses are super comfy with linens washed in hot water for the freshest night sleep. The master has a queen bed with smart tv and private bathroom. The shower is uniquely designed with a bench seat and pebble flooring. The first guest bedroom has a queen bed with two windows. The second guest bedroom has a custom made queen over queen bunk bed with storage. A local artisan created this sleeping space just for your comfort! Guest bathroom is nestled between the two guest rooms with a barn door. You will feel like you have been to the spa in the guest glass shower. The kitchen is spectacular and oversized for families and friends that like to enjoy coffee in the morning or cooking family dinners. Enjoy the indoor or outdoor dining table comfortable for 8 people.
