Cedar Ridge

We feel the house needs to be upgraded- the oven handle was broken and one of the cupboards wouldn’t stay shut. The pool table is in very poor shape- and we were specifically wanting a place we could play pool. The blinds are missing lots of pieces which were lying in the bedroom closet and under the bed. My husband found a dirty fork on the floor under the nightstand and KY jelly in the nightstand. Dirt and cobwebs in corners and on lamps and the shelving in the vanity downstairs was broken. The location is good and the fireplace was wonderful and the hot tub. But we will not be staying here again.

Relaxing Get Away

The house was very clean with a wonderful open floor plan. Nice big deck with gates so we could let our two pups hang out with us in the beautiful Fall weather. Huge fireplace that kept us nice and cozy on cooler nights and rainy days. Great trail by the lake for all of us (4 adults and 2 pups) to walk everyday. The area was quiet and peaceful.

No frills but sufficient

Had the basics but not enough towels for the 9 of us. Hot tub and fire place were enjoyed by all as well as the frozen lake views and lake side trail. Close to swallow falls SP for a scenic hike and Wisp for winter sports.

nice but lacking

The house has a really nice layout and definitely facilitates spending quality time with people you enjoy. The fireplace is really gorgeous and the kitchen is nice and spacious and decently equipped. However it definitely is obvious that nobody really lives in this house or personally cares for it. The outside and grounds are in sore need of a little TLC and the house is a little too close to the road for my comfort. The inside is better taken care of but is lacking any personal touch and is a lot more sterile and empty than we were expecting. For example the pool table is barely functional and only one of the pool cues was actually straight and usable. Also the property management company had a strong corporate feel and wasn't always so great at answering my questions. It seemed like they were pretty hassled that I even had any at all. The whole thing felt a little bit like a racket and seemed a little overpriced for what it was. Seemed they are more interested in making a profit than making sure people have great experiences. This being said it was very quiet and peaceful, we had a really great time there as a family and we were extremely grateful that we could bring our pets.

Watch out for the black bear mama and her two cubs! the boat dock was nice, easily accessible, just across the street.

The home is in great shape, very comfortable, well stocked kitchen and perfect layout for a home with two teens. We could all be together in the great room or seek our own spaces. We loved our private dock and the road around the lake. The setting on Stockslager road is particularly tranquil and near a cove where most motorized boats don't go. We also enjoyed the 2 mile trail around the lake - which began at our home. Cedar ridge was clean, well stocked, in great shape. We also had a very easy experience with Taylor-Made, who responded immediately to an incident when our outdoor bear box met a bear at night. We hope to return soon!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is probably the 4th time I've stayed at Cedar Ridge and I love almost everything about the property. Less than 100 yards to the dock. The hot tub was clean and water clear. Maintenance responded within a few hours of request to fix a shower nozzle (they've been this fast to respond in previous years too). The house is clean and comfortable with a dinner table and separate high top/card table placed behind the couches to watch TV or eat. 2 things to improve: 1. Hot water is backwards in upstairs bathroom. 2. AC in smaller upstairs bedroom is nearly useless since the vent was placed under the bed. I bring a fan and have to keep the door open to have some fresh air.

So much potential, but...

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Despite needing general updating, Cedar Ridge has everything covered in terms of amenities. Most things were acceptable in terms of functionality and upkeep... with major exceptions of the filthy shower doors and dangerous dock. To start with the shower doors, the base channels were literally caked in disgusting thick black mildew. I'm not sure how the cleaning crews could overlook this detail. As for the dock, it is by far the worst that we've encountered in 20 years of vacationing at DCL. We would absolutely not recommend this property to anyone who owns a decent motorboat and expects to dock it safely! Here's the story: - On day 1 of our stay, we called about the protective rubber edging hanging off in several places. The friendly maintenance man came out immediately and secured the worn sections with screws. - Luckily, early on day 2 we decided to move our boat from inside of the U-shape to the wider side, mainly because the U-shape was too short and completely unstable with any waves. When we returned to the dock after a day of boating on day 2, the narrow side of the dock became disconnected - which would have caused major damage to our boat had we left it inside of the U-shape! To add insult to injury, we were left to precariously rig it into place ourselves for the night, after calling maintenance and being told that they were gone for the evening. This was totally unacceptable service in an unsafe emergency situation! - On day 3, we bought additional fenders to mount to the wide side of the dock, and maintenance finally secured the narrow side of the dock with a new shaft and pin. This fix only lasted 1 day before the cotter pin sheared off and left the narrow side in danger of becoming detached again. Fortunately, maintenance returned before we had to rig it again.

Deep Creek Rental

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We liked the location of the house, however it rained most of the time and house was not clean at all.
