Wayside is a beautifully done up B&B. Had the best night's sleep I've had for ages. Emiko and Andy are charming, friendly hosts. Great to try some unusual whisky too!

Perfect Lake District getaway in a beautiful location

We loved our stay at the Wayside - Emiko and Doreen really looked after us in what felt like a home away from home. The location is perfect if you’re looking for a quieter part of the Lakes, but also not difficult to get to. The whole building and rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully put together and in immaculate condition. We were really impressed with the attention and care given to all the guests and loved the breakfast (homemade bread and beans!). We are looking forward to coming again.

Really nice place, picturesque surroundings, very clean and tidy.

Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff, they suggested another good place to eat but dinner there was also great, I had the salmon, my wife had the curry, both very tasty and nicely presented.

Friday night dinner in a beautiful historic building

My wife and I had dinner there on Friday — our second visit — and it was another relaxed, enjoyable experience. The staff are friendly and genuinely keen to chat, which adds to the atmosphere. The food was delicious, and there’s an excellent selection of beers, wines, and, of course, whisky. We love going there and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Most enjoyable stay in delightful B&B near Black Combe, Cumbria

Very comfortable spacious room and bathroom, knowledgable host, very friendly service, delicious breakfasts and pre-booked evening meal. Beautiful surroundings, our room looked up towards Black Combe, we enjoyed walks along the beach at Silecroft and visits to Coniston, Windermere, Wastwater, Steam train rides and boat trips.

The Wayside is in a beautiful, quiet location. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Emiko was the perfect host and a very helpful guide to her extensive whisky collection, which was a very pleasant way to finish off the lovely meals that she prepared for us.
