À propos de cet hébergement

The Quay House, Clifden’s oldest building

Built for the Harbour Master nearly 200 years ago, The Quay House has been sensitively restored and now offers guest accommodation in fourteen bedrooms (all different) with full bathrooms – all but three overlook the Harbour. Family portraits, period furniture, cosy fires and a warm Irish welcome make for a unique atmosphere of comfort and fun.

The Quay House is Clifden’s oldest building, dating from C1820. It was originally the Harbour Master’s house but later became a Franciscan monastery, then a convent and finally a hotel owned by the Pye family.

The Quay House stands right on the harbour, just 7 minutes walk from Clifden town centre. All rooms are individually furnished with some good antiques and original paintings; several have working fireplaces. All have large bathrooms with tubs and showers and there is also one ground floor room for wheelchair users.

Ground Floor

Bedroom 1 (Bamboo Room) – This is the private entrance to the self-catering part of the property but it is also a bedroom if required with zip and link beds acting as a super king or with twin beds. This bedroom has an ensuite shower room.

Bedroom 2 (Studio A) – Large ground floor room with a super king bed and three single beds one of the single beds is a sofa bed which can be converted into a bed. This room can comfortably sleep five guests. There is a large bathroom with a bath and separate shower, toilet, and double sinks.

Fully fitted kitchen with electric oven, tall fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher, and Nespresso Magimix coffee machine (pods are not provided). There is also a Delonghi coffee machine for coffee beans (beans are not provided).

Sitting/Dining room with dining table seating up to twelve guests, additional table and chairs can be provided if necessary. Two sofas and a couple of easy chairs.

Family of 13 Quay house stay

The house was spacious, with more than enough individual bedrooms rooms for our 4 families. The kitchen was well- equipped with a spacious dining and living room. Everything was clean, and decorated nicely, with each bedroom having its own theme. The owners were not hovering at all, but ion site and very accommodating to our needs, answering our questions, giving recommendations, etc. When I asked about a recommendation for a restaurant on arriving after a very hectic travel day, she helped with making the reservation for us. She even offered an extra day at the end of our trip, after we were delayed a day due to airline cancellations. We thoroughly enjoyed the town with all of the amazing restaurants, shops, grocery store, and children’s playground all within a comfortable walking distance to the Quay house. We loved the Connemara region including beaches, castles, the national park, and the beautiful Countryside and Atlantic coast! Nothing that I can think of!
