This is a dog-friendly ex-miner's cottage made from stone & unexpectedly spacious with 3 floors. The cottage has a log burner to get cosy around. There is a pool table and a darts board. Sip your morning coffee admiring the mountain views and watch the sheep graze. Blaengwynfi is a rural location with a few shops and one pub. The beach is 20 minutes away with great fish n chips! You are close to Swansea & Cardiff if you fancy a bit of shopping. There really is so much to explore... castles, waterfalls, beaches, forests & mountains to climb. The cottage is great for hiking, cycling, families.

A shortbreak in Wales

We stayed in the house for 4 nights with our grandson. It was comfortable and well supplied. The views from the back of the property were across the valley and stunning.

Great rustic, rural cottage

My family stayed in the property for over a month, while we explored Wales and visited some friends in the Swansea area. The small village up in the mountains was absolutely beautiful, and the check in process was simple with a lock box and independent arrival time. Lorna was responsive when we had questions and had reccomendations for exploring the area and restaurants.Anyone staying should plan on topping up the electric and gas immediately. We were aware of the pay as you go scheme, but 3 of us got to the property late on a Thursday and were out exploring all day Friday, and then left first thing Saturday (due to split arrival dates of our family) to stay in a hotel in London. Despite very minimal usage and no heating at all - When we returned Sunday the electric and gas were off, and the companies wouldn't take payment over the phone. Luckily you can pay at the post office just a few doors up, and I happened to get there with 1 minute to spare before closing. Not a problem but renters should be prepared. Also if you are renting for an extended visit know that laundry facilities are minimum of 20 minutes away and expensive.The accomodations are rustic but adequate.Everyone in the village was very friendly and accommadating.

Fijn ruim huis met alle faciliteiten. Prima uitvalsbasis voor wandelingen. Een auto is aan te bevelen, je moet even rijden om bij de echt mooie plekken te komen.

It's simple, I want you to have a great stay and enjoy the cottage and the stunning area. I just hope you enjoy staying there as much as me and my family do.
I am from the Midlands which is a distance from the beach but when I go to the cottage with my family we can reach the beach in 20 minutes.
I love to walk my dog and I enjoy finding new places to do this in South Wales. In fact, there are several fabulous walks right on the doorstep of the cottage, including an old railway line which is popular with the locals.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

Close to Blaengwynfi are some amazing bike/hiking trails in The Afan Forest and check out Zipworld and Margam Country Park too. South Wales is beautiful, I never get tired of the mountains and the waterfalls whilst walking with my dog & children. The nearby beaches are long and sandy. If you fancy travelling a bit further, visit Rhossili Bay and Tenby. We love to visit Swansea marina with a spot of lunch and a trip to the LC with its wave pool and water slides. We love to explore Cardiff too famous for its Victorian & Edwardian arcades and a trip to Cardiff International White Water. The Brecon Beacons are nearby with some lovely towns, a trip on the Brecon mountain railway and the four waterfalls walk. Don’t forget to visit the castles too, Caerphilly and Coch are beautiful. I can go on and on but I will stop there!

The views of the mountains are amazing. You can sit and watch the sheep grazing. The cottage is modern but has kept some traditional charm such as the stone fireplace & log burner. There is a pool table and dart board too for those quiet, rainy days.
