There are many villages and towns in the region that are well worth a visit but here are a few of our favourites -
Cherence (3km) - is a small village with brocantes, a bar and a pizza place.
Mortain is located 11km away which is known for its French Renaissance architecture and home to the Grand and Petit Cascades (waterfalls).
Vire (19km) - An ancient walled city built in the 12th century, with castle and small museum. Its well worth climbing the turret to see the surrounding views.
Saint - Hilaire du Harcouet (21km) - is a bustling market town (markets on Wednesday's) which dates back to 1083. You will find independent shops, schools, swimming pool, cinema and a beautiful park to explore with a picture perfect lake. In the summer, there are inflatables for the children to play on and in November they host the oldest fair of the region dating back to 1323.
Villedieu les Poeles - (30km) is known as the city of copper and is a beautiful preserved medieval town.
Avranches (33km) with cobbled lanes, gardens and picturesque squares is also home to the manuscripts from Mont Saint-Michel. Head to the beautiful Jardin des Plantes for a breath taking view of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel.
Le Mont Saint Michel (48km) is a must visit for the region with access depending on tide times. Here you will find a small island steeped in history with the most incredible views. Its one of the most famous sites in France.
Fougeres (49km) - has one of the most imposing French castles rich in heritage that spans over 1000 years.
Granville (56) - a seaside resort, market and harbour town. The old walled harbour stands above the town while the lower town hosts the beach and promenade.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
This area of France offers the familiarity of some of our favourite places that we've lived. From the lush green surroundings to the small towns and villages steeped in history. We love the endless blue skies with late summer nights and the contrast of the winter months with the shorter days (still blue skies) and snow.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
The gite itself has many original features from the barn it once was. As a barn it housed the cattle with the feeding trough still in the kitchen underneath the bench seating. The property is perfect for anyone who wants to either get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or anyone who just needs a quiet family filled break with lots of outdoor space to play and relax. The immediate surrounding area lends itself well to walkers, cyclists and to anyone who just wants to spend a little more time with nature.
