Renovated 2br Condo with Sweeping Ocean Views

We are very sorry Mr. Rogers did not enjoy his time at this unit. Unfortunately, Mr. Rogers could not see a sunset from his unit because the sun sets in the west and his condo was facing south. Mr. Rogers contacted me at 9:45 p.m. on the 5th night of this visit to tell me there was a small drip from the ceiling onto the king sized bed in the master. I would invite Mr. Rogers to post the pictures of the bulging ceiling from the build up of water. That is not what he explained to me was occurring when I spoke with him. And that is not what maintenance observed the following day. At no time did I suggest to him that he sleep on the downstairs bedroom where the light was on. I did suggest to him that he sleep in the second bedroom that had two queen sized beds. He immediately started talking about the compensation he should be paid for his inconvenience advised he would not be paying for this, etc. Makauena, the condo association, sent over maintenance the following day. They were unable to see any water on the ceiling and there was no dripping onto the bed. Mr. Rogers acknowledged that there were no further drippings the following nights that he was in residence. Nevertheless, he/his wife continued to seek compensation for the night they slept in a queen sized bed rather than a king sized bed. Two days after Mr. Rogers arrival he contacted us at 8:00 p.m. advising that the TV was not hooked up to the internet, the dryer was not working, and the outlets in the second bedroom were not operable. The following day the dryer was repaired by 10:00 a.m. The TV was connected to the internet by 11:00 a.m. There was never anything wrong with the outlets, there was a wall switch that turns the outlets on and off. We showed the guests how to use this. We explained to Mr. Rogers that the battery to operate the light downstairs was on order. It was not available in Hawaii, Amazon would not ship it and it had to be ordered from the mainland. The condo surfaces were sticky on the main level from sea salt because we left the screen doors open to let the breeze into the unit. We do our very best to accommodate our guests, but we cannot control acts of nature such as high winds, rain and where the sun sets.

We are sorry these guests did not enjoy their stay. They are correct, one week after they booked their stay we advised them that the pool would be closed for repairs. We offered them two options: 1) they could cancel their reservation without penalty, or 2) we would offer them access to The Poipu Beach Athletic Club. They opted for the latter. I personally check each unit prior to guests checking in. The refrigerator was operational when they arrived. If it had not been I know they would have let me know; they would not have put food into a warm fridge. When we had the appliance man come and look at the fridge he advised that ice had built up in the vent because the door had not been completely closed. Nevertheless, we reimbursed them for their spoiled food. The washing machine and television has been operating without a problem for our other guests and housekeeping. If they had advised us about a problem we would have sent someone over to assist them. I was threatened by the reviewer's wife that if I did not give them a big enough discount she would "make sure no one ever rented the unit again." Again, in an effort to appease these guests we refunded 20% of the cost of their stay. Despite our efforts, we clearly were not successful in making them happy.
