Knoll Cottage is a spacious traditional stone cottage in a wonderful location, clinging to the side of beautiful Bradford Dale at the quieter end of picturesque Youlgreave, with wonderful views over the wooded hillsides. The cottage is comfortably furnished, with beamed ceilings and clean, white decor, panelled doors and stripped wood floors, and glowing log burning stove.
Sit on the sunny patio and soak up the silence as the mist floats up through the trees and the valley comes awake. Wander along to the little village shops to buy your newspaper, eggs and bacon for breakfast or a picnic lunch for later. A stroll down the Dale (the public footpath runs directly in front of the cottage) will be next to spot the kingfishers in the river before setting off again to explore the rest of the Peak District.
With those wider horizons you might fancy nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bakewell. Or Caudwell's heritage and craft centre, Carsington's water sports, Crich's fantastic tramway and Castleton's Blue John caverns.
DOWNSTAIRS:
Lounge with a large corner sofa, TV, DVD player and WiFi.
Dining Room with additional sofa, wood burning stove, circular pine dining table, chairs and large dresser, small TV and understairs storage cupboard.
Kitchen fitted with traditional pine kitchen units, electric cooker and microwave; adjacent Utility Room with fridge freezer and washer/dryer.
Cloakroom off the utility room, with WC and basin.
There is a painted steep staircase leading upstairs; please note that the bottom step is deeper than the others.
UPSTAIRS:
Bedroom 1 with pine double bed, antique wardrobe and chest of drawers, and a feature fireplace.
Bedroom 2 with single bed, chest of drawers and clothes hanging rail; there is also a pull-out single for additional occupant, if required, but use of this does greatly restrict space.
Bedroom 3 with pine twin beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Family Bathroom with bath, electric shower over the bath, WC and basin.
OUTSIDE:
South facing patio with garden furniture, parasol and large barbecue. Steeply terraced gardens to the front of the cottage are fenced and gated; these can be accessed, but at guests’ own risk. Handrails are provided, but rough paths and uneven stone steps, unprotected drops and low stone walls make the gardens unsuitable for toddlers, young children or anyone with infirmities. Please note that the public footpath, a right of way, runs directly in front of the cottage down into the dale.
Parking is on the village street at the top of the steep footpath down to the cottage or in the little local car park just along the road.
Linen and towels are provided.
