A splendidly converted stone Chapel once owned by John Myers, the cousin of William Wordsworth, who is said to have visited whilst it was still a Chapel. Set in 5 acres of woodland and gardens with magnificent views over the Whicham Valley, Black Combe Fell and continuing towards the Coniston Fells.


To take advantage of the views, the Chapel has been configured with the living/sleeping area upstairs. The whole top floor is an open plan living and bedroom featuring a king size bed along with many original features, oak beams, stone walls and chapel style windows. It's a fantastic space with wooden flooring, welcoming warming log burner and a comfortable sofa. It is a great room to rewind and relax in at any time of the day.


Downstairs, there is the fully equipped kitchen including fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The dining table offers lovely views across the garden whilst enjoying your dinner. The lovely bathroom is located just off the kitchen equipped with a glorious walk-in shower and freestanding bath, a peaceful spot to relax at the end of the days exploring. Please note, property is situated on a working farm and live fowl may be present.


Outside, there is a small enclosed garden/seating area where you can take in views of the Whicham Valley, Black Combe Fell and even the start of the Coniston Fells. There are also great walks straight from your doorstep, and Silecroft beach is a short drive away which is the perfect spot for dog walking. For dog owners please be aware the garden is enclosed but not completely dog proof if your dog can jump or dig and the property is on a working farm so although we welcome dogs, they must be supervised and kept under control on the property to protect livestock.


There are also stables and yard on-site if you wish to bring your horse or pony (please enquire).



- This property is not suitable for people with mobility issues due to this being an old building and the style and shape of the stairs at the property.

- The Chapel requires guests to be capable of self-evacuation within a reasonable time based on the fire risk assessment.

Bedrooms are situated on the first floor, accessed via a steep staircase, so the ability to evacuate promptly is necessary.

The fire alarm system emits a loud audible warning throughout the property upon activation, but it does not accommodate specific visual or audio impairments


The Chapel is a fantastic property sleeping 2 in a peaceful, idyllic location. A great base for your Lake District break.


The Chapel can be booked with the neighbouring properties Fellview (GL096) and Dog Crag Cabin (LD155) to sleep up to 8 guests. Please enquire for more details.


N.B. Pets are allowed in the upstairs living area, however please don't allow pets on the living/bedroom furniture.
