Our hosts were welcoming, friendly and helpful at every turn. The house was just what our family needed in our retreat after the busy holiday season. The farm animals were a big hit with everyone, especially the chickens land horses. The couches could have been more comfortable but that didn't distract us from having a great time. A little tip that will help you be more comfortable in the downstairs bedroom is to keep the closet open as the heat vent is inside. Overall, it was a fabulous place for our family to get away. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a family farm adventure.

Girls - prewedding fun & photos

Had an absolute bast staying with my girlfriends the night before my wedding (held elsewhere) - we made my flower arrangements and enjoyed a girl's night. The following day my photographer came and took my photos in the beautiful barn locations. The house was spacious, clean, and adorable - especially the bathroom wallpapers. LOL - loved the welcoming dog who was adorable and never made a sound on the property. I would highly recommend this property.

Amazing Property

The property is simply amazing
even in the winter. Just wish we could have had a longer stay. We loved cozying up by the fireplace chatting and playing games. I would love to come back in the spring, summer or fall..I can only imagine how beautiful it is at those times also! Thank you!!

Thanksgiving at the farm

We had a lovely day-after-Thanksgiving with our children and grandchildren. The home was cozy and spacious, and we loved having the fireplace available. Our grandkids enjoyed the horses, pig, chicken and two beautiful and friendly dogs. Hope we get to visit again soon!

WOW factor Complete

A complete property with breathtaking views, a short country drive into town for lots of selection of local places to dine. During our stay we did whitewater rafting and the skyline caverns. Would absolutely repeat our trip.

A slice of heaven!

What an incredibly beautiful property! The house is nicely furnished with antiques and comfortable couches and beds and extremely clean!! It’s a very spacious house! Plenty of room even if filled to capacity. The deck was my favorite place to sit, looking at the corn field from sunrise to golden hour. You are totally removed from real life in this part of Purcellville! Terry and her husband are so friendly, and if you’re lucky they will show you the gorgeous barns they restored for incredible weddings, outbuildings converted to guest quarters, and the beautiful pasture with their Clydesdales. Beautiful perennials compliment the landscape. It is a little further from town than we expected but the drive is scenic. The bathrooms definitely need to be redone since they are from the 80’s and in some disrepair cosmetically. The kitchen was fine except not well equipped for cooking. I have a daughter with celiac so that is always a challenge. Still, the good far outweighed those things and we would recommend this property wholeheartedly! My husband wants to stay in the log cabin the next time he comes down for work! So relaxing!

Superb!!

Had a magnificent 2 night stay at this picturesque property for a family wedding shower about 10 miles away. Loves the ease of check in, the friendly welcome from Jeff and Terri and the ability to roam the grounds, meeting Mitch (pig), Luke Charlotte and the other property pup, as well as Addie and the two other Clydesdale horses. From one animal lover to obviously two others, I thank you! Such a wonderful spot and stay!

Horse country heaven

Beautiful and historical farm property which Terri and Jeff have lovingly restored to create a stellar event venue. The accommodations are bright, clean, and loaded with antiques and period pieces. Great hosts, great animals, great property. Would recommend it to all.

Perfect

We needed ADA space for a weekend and we cocooned in the cottage. Wonderfully equipped kitchen allowed us to cook meals. Spacious living room and dining room gave us places to gather. The horses and grounds were relaxing to see. The dogs welcomed us and their occasional barks were the only noise to break the peaceful serenity of our time there.

Charming cottage, beautiful property and location

We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy cottage at the gorgeous Sylvanside Farms. The place is beautifully-decorated, the kitchen was well-stocked, and there were sufficient linens and bedding. We enjoyed walking the grounds and meeting Adeline and Sunday, the Clydesdales, and Mitch, the pig. It was so fun to tour the barn wedding & event venues. We awoke to light snow both mornings of our stay which enhanced the experience. It was a short and lovely drive through the Virginia countryside to nearby charming towns of Middleburg and Leesburg. The hosts were responsive and addressed a couple of issues in the place in a timely manner. We would have appreciated more transparency prior to booking regarding the add-on guest and insurance fees. Additionally, we would have benefited from extra seating in the living room. Otherwise, we made great memories and would gladly stay here again. Highly recommend!

Holiday vacation

A true rustic Family Christmas! We stayed at The Cottage for 3 weeks and we felt very welcome. The house has a master suite DOWNSTAIRS with a tub- no shower. Upstairs has 2 huge bedrooms and each has a bath with shower- plenty of towels, shampoos and soaps. No television -which was PERFECT for catching up with Family uninterrupted 😊 by the fireplace! Dining area table sat 8 of us comfortably. It was December so we couldn't take advantage of the lovely attached porch but walking around the farm and property was calming as well as invigorating - be sure to say hello to the horses and playful pups! ANY questions or needs that we had were quickly answered and attended. Purcellville less than 10 minutes away for shopping and restaurants. Check-in and out was an absolute breeze. Highly recommend!

Rustic Charm

Off the beaten path. Truly in the country. Added bonus lots of land to take a walk on and see horses and a pig. Owner very responsive when we had minor issue with dishwasher. Note that there is no TV if that matters to you (not misrepresented in description). Could use a little more lighting in living room and dining room. Clean and charming.

Phenomenal hospitality! Gorgeous property

We rented this for friends visiting from out of town. The owners were incredibly hospitable and took the time to walk around the property and tell the history of it as well as showing all of the amenities., The property is gorgeous and the accommodations are clean and quiet. Highly recommend this to anybody. Fabulous location and easy to get around.

Fairy Tale Property!

The cottage we stayed if was adorable. It is a 4 bedroom, but 2 rooms are basically one room, but it was fine for our group. The hosts were so kind and very helpful! The property is spectacular! Beautiful barns for events/weddings.

A Pretty, Quiet Place

We enjoyed the setting and the tour of the property by the host and the fresh duck egg! We had a nice, quiet, restful stay. However, two things could be improved: the lighting is marginal in the living/dining areas at night; and the kitchen utensils and equipment collection is rather random and somewhat incomplete for cooking full meals. Overall, though, it was a pleasant experience.

Wonderful and Relaxing Getaway!

This property was amazing! There were six of us teachers trying to unwind, and this was the place to do it. The house was exactly as advertised and was immaculately clean. The surrounding property was picturesque and available to us to wander anywhere that we liked. Terri and Jeff were amazing hosts who went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. and had everything that we needed. Terri even lit a fire in the fire pit that was surrounded by Adirondack chairs where we could relax with blankets and marshmallows. No detail was overlooked. My friends and I have already decided to make a yearly visit to enjoy everything including the lovely horses, cows, pig, and last, but not least, dog, Zoe! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
