Cottage Maine classique avec vue sur l'océan

Ce chalet d'été du Maine en bardeaux classique rénové des années 1940 est lumineux et gai partout - comme une page du magazine «House and Gardens». Le mobilier est dans le style chalet du Maine, et la cuisine gastronomique a été mise à jour avec tous les nouveaux appareils pour la saison 2019. Le premier étage a une chambre simple superposée adaptée aux enfants et une douche, le deuxième étage a trois chambres - deux avec lits queen et une avec lits jumeaux - et une salle de bain avec baignoire sur pattes. Salle de bain au rez-de-chaussée entièrement rénovée et agrandie en 2019 avec tous les nouveaux accessoires, carreaux et laveuse et sécheuse à chargement frontal. Les matelas de toutes les chambres à l'étage sont neufs depuis un an

Profitez d'une vue sur l'océan à travers un mur de fenêtres donnant sur un champ ouvert ou depuis la chambre principale. Grands espaces de vie extérieurs - avec une grande terrasse qui donne sur une pelouse complètement privée - parfaite pour les jeux - et comprend des meubles et un barbecue mis à jour. La cuisine avec coin repas est entièrement équipée avec une vue imprenable sur les deux hectares de bois environnants.

Super endroit pour les enfants qui aiment jouer sur le terrain, des forts «secrets» dans les bois et à la recherche de trésors sur les rochers et les plages. À quelques pas de la maison communautaire de Juniper Point, de quatre courts de tennis en terre battue, d'un quai à bateaux et d'une plage. Ce chalet a la chaleur et un foyer au bois, serait donc un bon choix pour la basse saison (mai, juin, septembre, octobre). Les nouvelles fenêtres Anderson 400 (en 2019) aident à empêcher le froid et la chaleur d'entrer.

Le chalet Osprey est maintenu lumineux et frais grâce à des mises à niveau et des réparations fréquentes. Les améliorations clés pour 2019 comprennent le remplacement des fenêtres de style ancien, de nouveaux appareils de cuisine (réfrigérateur, cuisinière et lave-vaisselle) et la mise à jour de la salle de bain et de la buanderie du rez-de-chaussée.

La maison est idéale pour quatre adultes, mais pourra accueillir jusqu'à six maximum.

Wonderful!

Just what we needed! We loved relaxing on the deck, kayaking and paddle boarding from the dock. It felt secluded, but was close to town with all the stores and restaurants. It was also close enough for a day trip to Acadia. The Botanical Gardens were great! Great stay!

Perfect location, lovely cottage

Perfect cottage for three adults and a toddler. We enjoyed the quiet location, nicely landscaped and spacious yard, beautiful views down to the water, and the ability to walk to the pier and little beach. Location was perfect for exploring Boothbay Harbor and surrounding towns while feeling like we were staying off the beaten path. Sarah was extremely responsive, sending over some extra dish soap and paper towels one evening when we ran out.We stayed the first week of June and appreciated the first floor heater a couple of cool mornings. The kitchen has everything we needed and it was nice to a breakfast nook and dining room. Linens were high quality and made for a great night's sleep.

Great Place to Relax

First time in Maine. The Cottage was PERFECT for spending time together in the lovely living room -- as well as enough in and outdoor spaces to reflect on our own -- enjoying the nice water and garden views. Everything was clean and well-supplied -- our host was top-notch. It was a good location for shops, hikes and museums. Will return again :)

Great family cottage

We recently spent a week at the Osprey cottage and it was exactly what we had hoped for. Beautiful and relaxing setting, nicely maintained cottage, clean, comfortable furniture, close to lots of activities for kids and adults and downtown Boothbay Harbor. Bill and Lisa were helpful and responsive, and the neighbors in the community were friendly and welcoming. Absolutely no complaints.

A real Maine Cottage

Bill, the owner, has a perfect Maine get-away in the woods and near the ocean. The cottage is modern enough yet simple enough as well. The cottage has lovely windows everywhere...so much great light. The wood burning fireplace was superb on cool October mornings and evenings. We would return and rent again because we were very pleased with our rental decision.

A great Family Vacation

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation at the Osprey and Bill, the owner, was such a wonderful host to us, taking us out on his boat and touring the area. The cabin was very comfortable for my family, however, the sunrise was so early that it took some getting used to. We all ended up using eye masks so we could sleep in a bit later. The cabin was well stocked with towels, sheets and kitchen supplies. We took boat trips to see the Puffins and to Monhegan island, both were quite interesting. Boothbay is a beautiful harbor and definitely a place to visit again.

Perfect location for mid-coast Maine vacation

Perfect location. Water views, with access to a dock and a small beach. Short drive to town, and a little over an hour drive to Portland or Camden for day trips. The house has all the amenities we needed, including WiFi, is well maintained and clean, and plenty of room for large families. Many families in this compound of homes, so a good spot for a family vacation. My wife and I like to bike, so we did some local riding. The Southport loop is scenic with minimal traffic, and the loop up to Barter's Island is nice too. There are many kayak rental companies in the area, and some will drop off the kayaks to you. The house is in a perfect location for kayaks.

Enjoyed but dissapointed

We enjoyed the house and love the .location.The biggest disapointment was that I could never go upstairs to sleep in the master bedroom and my husband had to crawl up and down the stairs! It definitely needs a handrail!!.Pease let people know it is not a house for handicapped ..I slept on the lower bunkbed and never got to see the upstairs bedroom. .the lb.thdothe

Just as I thought it would be.

I was looking forward to being in Maine. It's hot here in South Carolina in August. My husband promised we'd escape this year and we did. Boothbay was fantastic,...good nearby restaurants, friendly neighbors, gorgeous settings and the experience of open windows and doors, drinking in warm sunshine and cool breezes while I finished reading three novels. Sound Idyllic? It was just as we pictured. The cottage felt cozy but scenic day trips took us away from staying put. Botanical gardens, trips to other towns to antique, or an expedition to Monhegan, an island two hours away by ferry, not to mention the short walk to the tennis courts next to us, provided ample time to relax and rejuvenate. Nothing about our stay in Osprey disappointed. I hope to return.

Absolute Mid-Coast Perfection!!!

We spent a perfect 2 weeks in Osprey Cottage. The location on Juniper Point could not have been better (5 minutes from the Yacht Club, just few more to the downtown harbor area, and the grocery store & other conveniences outside of town). My husband eagerly joined the Juniper Point Assoc and played tennis everyday that we were there. We also collected sea glass on the association beach and swam off the dock below the cottage a few times. A great family spot for all ages! The cottage is absolutely charming, immaculate and very well provisioned! The furnishings are all very comfortable & have a bright Maine cottage feel. Plenty of room for us & our 3 children (24,22,17) to spread out. The view out the living room window over gardens and a field, and down to the Townsend Gut is just lovely, and it was very easy to get caught up with the view and not read my book! The owners could not have been nicer, from initial contact back in the spring, to the lead up to our arrival. They were also there our last few days, staying in their primary property, and we had the chance to spend some time with them and to go out on their boat. His knowledge of the area and it's history is not to be beat, and he offered lots of recommendations for us in the area & we took many of them! Kayaking in the harbor, up the Townsend Gut, and to the nearby islands (Mouse, Burnt, & Squirrel) Several outings to Glidden Point Oyster Farms up in the Damariscotta River...best oysters I think we've ever had! Ferry out to Squirrel Island on Friday mornings for a yoga class and hike around the island...a wonderful step back in time to walk around the island and see all the old houses...no cars or golf carts, all on foot or bike...felt very Anne of Green Gables! Hiking at Dodge Point up the Damariscotta River, and various other places in the area that are part of the Boothbay Land Trust. A fishing trip on Charger 2. The Botanical Gardens are a must see! Thurs am Farmer's Market! There are endless places to eat. We had wonderful dinners at Ports of Italy & The Thistle Inn, and the obligatory lobster meals at Robinson's Wharf (right across the Sheepscott River), Lobsterman's Wharf in East Boothbay, and the Trevett General Store (great lobster rolls and fried pickles!). Also amazing sandwiches at the East Boothbay General Store...a great little market not to be missed. We cooked fairly often in the very well outfitted kitchen. We can't wait to go back next summer. Absolute perfection!

Charming historic cottage with modern updates.

The neighborhood was wonderful that this cottage was located within. We were greeted and welcomed every time we stepped out the door, primarily homeowners surrounding this little cottage rental located close enough to Boothbay Harbor to enjoy all it had to offer a short walk to the water and boat dock.

Few glitches with checkin, communication with owner. Coffee pot did not work, light out in bathroom. House being built near by a bit noisy. Workman came on last day to work on propane heater. It is a lovely Maine home.

Excellent home for a small group

We were 6 people in this spacious house. The view from the living room was spectacular. Very comfortable seating. The kitchen was well stocked plus large washing machine and dryer were available. The location was also quiet but within easy reach of Boothbay Harbor. We would consider staying here again.

Outstanding stay

The Osprey is the ideal location and has ultimate New England charm. The owner gave us a personal harbor tour in his boat sharing his knowledge and history of the region. He also gave us a walking tour and orientation to the area. This is a top notch 5 star property, very spacious and extremely comfortable. We look forward to our next visit.

Property is owned by Bill and Lisa Barton. Bill has summered in Boothbay Harbor all his life. Bill is also the past president of the Juniper Point Association, an organization that brings together residents on Juniper and McKown points and maintains the community house, four clay tennis courts, two docks, trails and beach access.

Bill's mother, the artist Nancy Hemenway Barton, was born in Boothbay the summer of 1920. Numerous family members have summer homes on Juniper Point and its been the much loved gathering spot for countless summers. Purchased the house in 1999 so that our children--we have six in all--would have a place to come with their spouses and children.

Summer in Maine is about the outdoors for us, whether it be boating, tennis, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming off the dock, or just relaxing in a family atmosphere. Bill's brother's both have houses nearby as do several cousins, so there is lots of movement between the cottages, picnics and fun multi-generational outings to nearby islands, beaches, or to town. The whole community retains a friendly, low key atmosphere that is welcoming yet not intrusive.
