Churchdown est une belle grande maison familiale victorienne à Chippenham - un endroit parfait pour explorer les merveilleuses villes, villages et campagnes du Wiltshire. Par exemple, les charmants villages de Castle Combe et Lacock sont tous deux à quelques kilomètres, tandis que le bain géorgien historique est facile et rapide pour se rendre en voiture (21 kilomètres) ou en train (15 minutes de la gare de Chippenham, à seulement 5 minutes à pied une façon).
Le Designer Outlet Village à Swindon est également proche - une jonction le long de la M4, ou un trajet en train de 15 minutes.
La maison extrêmement adaptée aux chiens se trouve dans un jardin entièrement clos d'environ 1/3 d'acre, avec de belles promenades le long de la rivière Avon à quelques centaines de mètres de la porte. Il y a quatre grandes chambres - trois doubles avec au moins des lits king size et une twin. La chambre principale dispose d'un lit à baldaquin et d'une superbe salle de bains privative en carrelage travertin avec baignoire en fonte et douche séparée. La chambre mansardée est parfaite pour plusieurs enfants.
Il y a trois salles séparées pour se détendre: un salon plus formel avec orgue (les pompes à pied signifient que vous pouvez aussi faire beaucoup d'exercice!); la salle de jardin de 30 pieds de long avec portes françaises menant à la terrasse en bois et le salon avec poêle à bois, ainsi que la télévision HD, Sky, le lecteur DVD X-Box et le hub wi-fi. Vous êtes invités à lire l'un des quelques centaines de livres disponibles, ou peut-être essayer l'un des jeux de société ou des puzzles dans le placard à jeux.
La salle à manger peut accueillir confortablement 8 personnes autour de sa table en chêne, et la cuisine est un paradis pour les cuisiniers, équipée d'un Aga, ainsi que d'une plaque de cuisson à gaz à quatre feux et d'un four à gaz et la zone de service séparée a un deuxième évier, une machine à laver et deux grands réfrigérateurs-congélateurs disponibles pour votre usage. Si vous voulez faire une pause dans l'auto-restauration, il y a un certain nombre de pubs et de plats à emporter à Chippenham lui-même, et nous pouvons également recommander un certain nombre de pubs et restaurants de village locaux dans un rayon de 16 km du simple au Michelin.

A great family stay

Wonderful, cozy home

We so enjoyed our stay. The house is roomy and cozy at the same time. The kitchen had everything we needed plus a lovely kit to get us on the right foot the first night there. There are plenty of choices in walking distance for meals and light shopping. A charming neighborhood. Would absolutely stay in the house again!

Andrew was a very responsive host and quickly responded to a big problem we had on arrival. We chose the location as it was a mid point for each of us , for a weekend family get together. We walked to nearby park on both days. The house and had plenty of space both inside and out. Room to park one car in the garage and two outside of the garage. Beds very comfy.

Our 3rd stay here for Christmas. We love the space, so much room for kids to run around and explore, play hide and seek, or if you need to find a quiet space for yourself for 5 minutes! Kitchen is great, the aga makes it so warm and cosy and the island for socialising around. 2x large fridge freezers was enough for our family of 8. Town which is only 5 minutes away, and play park by the river is 5-10 minutes. The only downside is the noise of the traffic when you’re trying to get to sleep but you get used to it or just bring some earplugs. I feel the positives far outweigh the one negative though. Quick communication with the host, easy to get into property, wood for the fire and a food parcel on arrival are great.

Fantastic communication with owner throughout. Very well- equipped with plenty of space inside and out for 8 of us with 3 dogs. Very central location with lovely riverside walks from across the road. There is a reasonable amount of traffic noise but this was made clear before our stay and didn’t affect our enjoyment.

Highly, highly recommended

Just the perfect house for my family with literally everything you need. I highly recommend this home as Andrew made every effort to make sure his guests were fully satisfied. The garden was totally private and secure enabling our dog to roam and play at his leisure. The main dwelling was fabulous whereby everyone could relax and chill. I will definitely be booking this home again in the future. You won't be disappointed thanks guys

A great house with a perfect garden

Just back from a 6 adult, 1 dog family break. It was a great house for this. All four bedrooms are very spacious and pleasant. Very good showers. So excellent sleeping/bathroom facilities. The kitchen is great, so well equipped; everything you need many times over. 4 reception rooms - the dining table took 6 adults very comfortably, we moved one settee from the front room into another lounge so we could all sit together. Garden is so attractive and completely dog friendly. In warmer weather we would have sat out there, a nice garden table and chairs set. Again for 6 if I recall, but we didn't use it so I might have that wrong. Yes it's on a busy road on one side but this did not bother us at all. A very quiet road at the back so parking was not a problem. (There is some parking with the property, we arrived in 4 separate cars but even so it was not an issue). My only gripe. It is obviously lived in and there is a lot of personal belongings in wardrobes/bathroom etc. Not too bad. But didn't like the opened fruit juice and water left in the fridge, bits of used butter etc. Not great in these covid times. However 2 big fridge/freezers so I moved all the open stuff to one fridge and used the other. Very prompt and friendly responses from the owners.

Great location, lovely garden!

We had a lovely time here! Loads of room for 7 adults, a baby and two dogs. Comfy beds, good showers, and great communication from the owners. The garden was gorgeous, and great for the dogs as it was secure enough to let them out on their own to run around. Less than ten minutes walk to the train station, great for a day trip to Bath. Very light sleepers might want ear plugs as the noise from the road can be quite loud, but that certainly wasn’t enough to detract from all the positives!

A lovely central location

We hired this house for a get together with friends and this house was fantastic, all of the travelling party loved the house and had a fantastic time, there was plenty of parking and the garden and furniture made it a lovely place to relax in the evening sun with a glass of wine. The house itself is a lovely place and the online photos do not do its beauty justice. As a group we have all said we would be happy to stay at this property again in the future

Long weekend in Chippenham

The house itself was spacious and child friendly. The owners were very helpful and had left a thoughtful basket for us on arrival. The house is off a main road so although this is convienent to go sight seeing to Bath, Cotswolds, Swindon etc - there is a lot of noise from the traffic 24/7. Also, the showers needed a thorough clean. Other than this we all had a wonderful weekend away and the property had top quality items and had enough to entertain us all. Thank you.

A fantastic short stay for a local wedding

Wonderful house

Had a lovely family reunion at this house. Plenty of reception rooms with comfortable bedrooms and everything you need in the kitchen. Location was a wonderful base for exploring Bath and the Cotswolds. Lovely freshly made bread and lots of other goodies in the welcome basket. Both generations and the dog loved staying here.

Stunning family home with a great garden.

We had such a lovely stay in this beautiful quirky town house in Chippenham. We went in July and had lovely weather so could make full use of their amazing garden. They are also a pet friendly house which makes it a great place for families too! The host were so accommodating, quick to answer any questions I had and left us a very generous gift basket on arrival. I highly recommend this house to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Churchdown and had an extremely relaxing few days exploring the local area. Bath is literally 11 minutes on the train and local shops just a five minute walk away. Also check out the maps as there are many dogs walks locally that we took advantage of. Fantastically equipped and a real home from home. The sun room was lovely for our morning coffee whilst planning our day and the dining room with its large extending table perfect at the end of a busy day to relax and enjoy a meal and a glass or two!! Only downside was the position of the house and a little extra cleaning of plug holes in bathrooms. Its literally off a busy traffic island. Now this isn't a problem when you're in the house, you dont hear the traffic at all but if visiting in the summer be mindful that there is quite a noticeable degree of noise from the beautiful garden. We loved our stay and so did the dogs. Would love to visit again if in the area. Many thanks to Andrew and Patrizia..x
