Hidden Valley Lodge est une église historique rénovée située dans un cadre de brousse isolé unique offrant une vue panoramique sur le lac et les montagnes dans notre ferme entourant les rives du lac Poerua.

The location is stunning and the church has amazing character and a great "feel." Nestled against the bush, with paths to the glow worm areas and the hot tub amongst the trees and outdoor seating areas, the church blends into the wonderful natural environment. There are lots of interesting pictures and pieces of information on the walls and nice little quirks and decorative touches. We loved staying here.I note that the additional cabin is away from the main house (perhaps 50m), and tucked away behind bushes. So this wouldn't suit younger kids, being a little far away from the main house and their parents. It suited our teenager fine. I also note that the pictures online make it look like the lake is right outside the windows but it is actually a few hundred metres away across a road and down a track. Don't expect to make your morning coffee and dip your toes in the water.

This is an amazing place to stay. So much history and interesting, well looked after and well stocked with the basics. It is also a great location for accessing some lovely walks (Carew Creek Falls are beautiful and close with with a 30 minute walk). The glow worms on the property are well worth seeking out. we have stayed three times over the years nd will be back.

Getaway Weekend

Absolutely loved staying at this accommodation! Beautiful building with great windows to show off the stunning views of the lake. We really enjoyed the whole process of setting up and using the hot tub. Great location - close to Moana Lake Brunner. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend and made lots of wholesome memories. Peace and quiet

Absolutely amazing property, loved the history of getting this old church moved from Lake Brunner. The owners were so easy to contact and they had good info of everything in the area. Very clean and very cozy with a wood fire. The bird life was amazing..especially the Wekas, they were so friendly and comical. I highly reccommend this property. Thank you so much for an awesome stay.

Stunning

We had an amazing time; it was beautiful, incredibly well equipped, and the place was perfect for a getaway. The house did get quite hot and there are a lot of biting bugs so mozzie repellant and light clothing is a must. We loved the weka wandered through the yard and the glowworms were beautiful

Our 3rd Visit

The fact that this is our 3rd time of staying here (2014, 2022, 2024) we think says it all! Lovely, comfortable and cosy. We are getting a ‘bit long in the tooth ‘ now for the long journey from the UK, but we do hope to return. Unfortunately, we didn’t see the Kkiwis now in residence but we did have a brief glimpse of a Weka. Grant and Fran are excellent hosts.

Birthday Trip

Being October babies, my mother and I had a Birthday Weekend. Perfect stop for our getaway and exploring the area. A wonderful ever-changing view of the lake, so peaceful. Very accommodating with our sleeping requirements. And well equipped for the more adventurous.

Beautiful Setting

We loved the area, fantastic setting for a converted church. Serenity abounds, with no digital distractions. The children loved the glow worms and we gave the hot tub a go as well, unfortunately we forgot to empty when we left. Highly recommended.

Well worth the stay.

Unique accommodation in a beautiful remote location. Loved the lake where we enjoyed use of kayaks and spent time fishing. Our favourite was the glow worm cave and friendly weka greeting in the morning. Our toddler loved exploring and helping with the hot tub.

Beautiful location

Heaven not far away

Absolutely stunning stay- felt like being so far away from everyone and everything but only a few hours drive from the east of the South Island. Lush greenery and the sounds of the birds - best place to stay and enjoy urself / family/friends. Hot tub was a beautiful touch! Takes 5 hours to realy heat up but worth it !!!!

A lovely secluded retreat

What a treat to spend a few days just soaking in the ambiance and relaxing! Making the commitment to heat up the hot tub is well worth the effort. Visiting the glow worms in the evening was also cool. The place is very comfortable. Bring a good book and be prepared to relax, because the nearest anything is a good 20 minutes away.

Highlight!

This extraordinary accommodation was the highlight of our 3 weeks NZ holidays! Staying in an old church was so special to all of us and it was so good equipped with everything. The free kayaks have been the cherry on the top! Communication with Fran was easy and friendly, she even agreed to send us some important stuff we forgot in her accommodation per post. Would 100% recommend staying here :)

A really unique experience
