Dalhousie sits on a 50-ha working beef farm between Birregurra and Deans Marsh. This modern, luxurious retreat offers 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen/dining/living area, TV room, office, and mudroom. Enjoy an indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit, and deck with BBQ overlooking rolling lawns to Pennyroyal Creek. Perfectly located near Brae Restaurant, Birregurra, and just 30 min to the Great Ocean Road—ideal for exploring the Surf Coast and the Otways.
The Space:
Just 50-minutes’ drive from Geelong & nestled in the foothills of the iconic Otway Ranges, Dalhousie is situated on the banks of the Pennyroyal Creek. Soak up the sights & sounds of the meandering creek walk & the local gum trees which provide a cooling & soothing escape from the summer heat. The nearby dam has yabbies which can be farmed on request. Help yourselves to the home-grown vegetables & herbs or otherwise make sure to dine at the Royal Mail Hotel, General Store, Brae Restaurant or the soon-to-be-opened Birregurra Grocer.
The open plan kitchen has views to the Otways, & boasts a large island bench, a butler’s pantry, microwave, gas cook top, electric oven, double fridge, dishwasher, wine fridge & a barista coffee machine. There is plenty of cooking equipment & glassware to sample the local wines. Sharing a space with the family room, enjoy the comfortable living & dining area with an open fireplace. This space has floor to ceiling glass sliding doors that open onto the outside deck & BBQ area. Appreciate the country peace on the expansive outdoor dining deck with views to the soft rolling lawns that run to the creek dotted with fire pits, wine barrels & a stage area perfect to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine at dusk.
Dalhousie has all the comforts you need for a relaxing getaway. This modern home is clean & spacious, offers ducted heating & cooling throughout, as well as ceiling fans in each room. An additional library/office provides sanctuary for work purposes. A second family room provides an extra entertaining area boasting a 75-inch smart TV. Our internet can be unreliable in the country but at the very least you can use your own 5G network to watch a movie, relax with a soak in the bath, sip a glass of wine on the outdoor balcony & don’t miss the sunrise & sunsets to meet the local native animals including birdlife and kangaroos.
Further afield be sure to explore the stunning Otways National Park. There are beautiful rainforest walks & waterfalls, zip lining adventures, kayak tours to spot the elusive platypus at Lake Elizabeth and not to forget a walk through the 85-year-old Californian Redwoods. Don’t forget to visit the local wineries & breweries. Take a scenic 30-minute drive to Lorne on the Great Ocean Road where you can enjoy coastal walks, gorgeous beaches and perhaps take a surf or SUP lesson.
We hope your stay at Dalhousie means you can escape the everyday, slow down and enjoy the comforts in a beautiful setting.
