Cottage Vintage - Village Oneroa

Olive & Merlot cottages have been designed as just the sort of fairy tale cottage one would want to happen upon if travelling to Waiheke Island on holiday. We have often done that while travelling ourselves, and it seems more difficult to find than it should be! When the opportunity came up to create some accommodation on the Mudbrick property, we decided to create a fantasy, fairy tale cottage full of character and old world charm, with rustic touches and romance. We had a lot of fun creating a little get-away nestled on the hillside awaiting visits from people from all parts of the world.

When we are going on a holiday, we trawl websites looking for a character property that is going to give us that feeling that we are so hoping for preferably a stones throw from the nearest village We don't want to be in the middle of nowhere, we like to wander or take a short taxi ride.

Jackie is our property manager, and we know first hand that shes just the sort of person that you want to meet, a local Waihekean, as we call ourselves, who will make your stay just that much more personal. She arrives with flowers for the cottage and ensures it looks immaculate, ready for your arrival.

Our location is perfect for privacy, and is delightfully rural, yet 2mins drive from Waihekes main village, Oneroa. The great part about it is that if you don¿t want to go anywhere, you don¿t have to: breakfast is included, you can wander along the path to two different styled restaurants, casual and rustic, or upmarket and refined.

We hope that after looking at the photo gallery you get the feeling that your stay at the fairy tale cottages will be amazing. That was really the whole point of creating them, and its our latest extension of what we do here at Mudbrick: we create romantic, idyllic fantasy escapes and then provide something for you to do at them eat, drink, relax, chat, gather loved ones, and now our latest addition wander down a winding pathway, hop into your private spa pool, then spend the night in a location that rivals anywhere in the world! We are passionate and unashamedly so! Enjoy!

Great spot to visit Mud Brick and. Cable bay. Tantalus best meal ever at tryst the chef and Jazz night at Casita Miro was amazing

Delightful

Would definitely love to return to this peaceful sunny geranium filled cottage. Beautiful choice of planting surrounding the property and fabulous views! We enjoyed the spa and the indoor and outdoor spaces were more than adequate for us! My sister in law said she would have loved a blind in the shower / laundry room ! We had a fabulous day at Mudbrick ,highly recommend a visit to enjoy the food ,wine and wonderful service!

We loved the extra touches like the fresh flowers and home cooked shortbread. Just a gorgeous place the whole family enjoyed.

The property has everything you need. We had English family with us and we wanted to show off beautiful NZ. This property sealed the deal!

Pictures make it look better than it is

Property is a lot more tired than the photos make out, very drafty and cold (even with heat pump on) and lounge furniture not really enough for four adults to sit comfortably. Kitchen bench had loads of ants on it and en-suite toilet was not working properly. Beds are old and soft. The furnishings are pretty and fresh flowers are a nice touch but could do with some reinvestment in the things that make a stay comfortable. View is lovely.

Lovely house in a gorgeous position overlooking Oneroa Bay with an easy walk down the hill to the shops and cafes. Had a wonderful meal at Mudbrick vineyard. We recommend the degustation menu with the wines, of course.

Short walk to Oneroa village.

Short walk to Oneroa village. Overlooks Oneroa Bay and short walk to beach. Can walk to Mudbrick Vineyard and downhill to the ferry. Bus at door. Well appointed kitchen. Great deck. Plenty of space for 2 couples and one child. Didn’t use BBQ as out the back. Preferred all our meals on the deck looking over Oneroa Bay . Lots to do on Waiheke. Get bus pass from ferry terminal

It is a very nicely done up older house as many are on the island. Great ambience, facilities such as bathrooms and kitchen were spotlessly clean. Quiet location, sun comes in lounge windows and great view in background. SHort walk to everywhere. We walked to Mudbrick - great views, down town - great restruants and shops, walked to kayak hire at wharf area and back so well positioned. Walked to another winery near Mudbrick for sensational five star lunch. Wedding reception at MudB 5Star

The cottage was very true to the pictures on the website. Decorated in a French, rustic style and the fresh flowers were a wonderful touch. Beds were all very comfortable, plenty of extra blankets etc. Children all loved the spa! View was fantastic. Easy walk to the shops, not particularly close to the beach but an easy walk down. Overall a lovely house for a weekend away.

The property is quaint and beautiful with gorgeous views of the beaches and coast line. The only thing you may want to be wary of is the extremely slow wifi. Unfortunately it was too slow for us to even use. The plus side was this gave us even more of a reason to go out and enjoy the beautiful Waiheke Island!

The house was just lovely.

The house was just lovely. Perfect for us girls. Jill was great to deal with and no issues with meeting up and getting key. We would definitely stay there again. Great location.
