Great place to spend a weekend or week away! The kayaks and canoes were amazing to spend time out on the lake and river. Nearby nature preserves allowed for some fantastic hikes. Comfortable beds and great spaces for lounging and cooking with an incredible porch with view of the lake to watch the bald eagles and herons while sipping your morning coffee. Highly recommend!

ABSOLUTE SAFETY & PRIVACY WARNING. If you value your privacy or have a disability, avoid this Evolve property. I am a veteran who formally disclosed my PTSD service dog 19 days before arrival. The moment I arrived, the homeowner weaponized their exterior doorbell camera to track me and instantly filed a false report for an 'undisclosed pet,' resulting in aggressive demands for extra fees. For someone with PTSD, being actively surveilled and falsely targeted the minute you walk up the steps is incredibly unsafe. Evolve explicitly admitted in writing that they messed up their internal records, yet they refused to refund my money after I was forced to flee the hostile environment. Untrustworthy management and intrusive hosts.

Great for the price. Small, older house on a lake with view of the Illinois River. You'll see boats, barges, jet skis, kayaking. Loved the deck and firepit! Wish we had a patio umbrella, though. If you're taller than 5'9, downstairs might be a bit challenging. Super small shower, but did the trick. Only 4 towels, 3 washcloths, 2 hand towels, and not enough dish towels. Wish there were more and some paper towel. Very peaceful.

This is a rustic cabin. Be prepared for an outdated, piecemeal place. No towels or dishrags in the kitchen and no hand towels in the upstairs bath. Very small basement shower was dirty and mold on the silicone. Curtain rod in the bedroom was falling off the wall. I shared my concerns with VRBO after arrival and I got a call at 11pm to tell me that if I left by midnight, I could get a full refund. Since I was already asleep I declined. I left the next day instead of staying another night.Also the neighbors ate very close and you can hear all their conversations

Confusing or conflicting instructions in advance of arrival, entry code incorrect during late evening check in, but most notably bug infestation affecting most all rooms including bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen. We did not stay on the property upon keying in a seeing the infestation or hundreds of bugs.

From the owner: “I am very sorry this guest encountered issues during check-in and with the ladybugs upon arrival. This is not the experience I want guests to have. The entry code concern was addressed right away, and the ladybugs were treated immediately after the report. I also arranged for professional pest control to ensure the home is fully taken care of for future visitors. I appreciate the feedback and remain committed to providing a comfortable stay for all guests.”

It wasn’t very clean. More rustic than stated. Poor water pressure dirty stained carpets, spiders and webs throughout the house , very outdated silverware pots pans pot quality towels mold in shower. Grill was filthy, no firewood unkept landscaping etc. I would not recommend. Front door never unlocked had to keep back door unlocked.

We enjoyed the house and location. Perfect for enjoying kayaking on the lake, fishing (didn't catch anything), listening to the birds, sunsets, stars, s'mores on the fire, and just relaxing. Please look at prior reviews...I brought our own bath towels (I'm a towel snob), paper towels, etc. Be aware of the very tight staircase to get downstairs. We will be back! We even lucked out that there was a special market downtown on the riverfront Saturday morning..instead of the farmers market.
