Family Fun!

We had such a great time during our stay at this property! Our group consisted of three families coming together with kids of multiple ages. Everyone slept comfortably and there were plenty of beds for all! The kids enjoyed running around the grounds. They loved looking at the horses in the morning, playing on the zip line and taking dips in the hot tub in the evenings! This place is perfectly located within the town of Kernville. Thank you again for all of the fun!

Wonderful Place to stay with the Family

Our family trip to this wonderful ranch consisted of 4 Adults, 2 Young Adults and one Teenager. Across the board we all enjoyed the property immensely!! From hanging out in the water meadow, walking to the river, exploring the barn, ineracting with friendly horses, camping out on the property to visiting the town for a local brew. Amelia, was wonderful to communicate with and was always avaliable if I had a question. Our favorite part of this historic place is the character and charm it has held over the decades. They have kept it up and we all are looking forward to coming back this summer to soak in the hot tub by the water meadow!

DO NOT waste your money on this property unless you'd like to be bother & harassed by the owner, Amelia, your entire stay. First of all, Amelia callled me at 8am our first full day of our family trip. She questioned my integrity as she over counted the amount of family members I had paid for on her home camera system. I explained we felt uncomfortable with her spying on our intimate family time, but insisted she recount us on her cameras because I had 13 guest & I paid for each of them, if she must. Amelia said we could not have the dogs in specific areas of the property. I explained to Amelia there is nothing on her website with these restrictions & was the sole reason we choose her property, nevertheless I relocated 2 of my guest and the 3 dogs I PAID for. I told Amelia we should be compensated, she never responded. Then, Amelia try to say the location the dogs were stationed was not offered on the website. I corrected her again with screenshots of her own web page. No response. The next day she left a message stating if she has known the dogs were coming she would have told us the 'additional rules' she just made up. I again sent her a screenshot showing her, not only did I tell her about the 3 dogs, I paid an additional fee. At the end of the call she asked if we could work through this, 'or we can keep fighting.' She is unprofessional and has no idea of even her own rules. On top of everything, the property was dirty with bugs in the sheets. Worst experience EVER!!!!!!!!

Not 6 bedrooms, dead mice found in traps

During our stay, we found two mouse traps with dead mice (one snap trap and one glue trap) in common areas of the home. One was found in the living room where we let our babies crawl around and our small dogs roam freely. We were not made aware that there was a mouse infestation nor that there would be mouse traps lying about the house. The second trap (the glue trap) was found in the kitchen where we spent time and kept our food which was concerning because those traps usually contain toxic chemicals/poison. I contacted the host and sent her a picture of the mice we found and her response was to blame her new cleaner and refund us $100. It’s important to note too that though this listing states that there are “6 bedrooms” only three of those bedrooms are actually enclosed, private spaces. The other half of the available beds are located in common areas without privacy. I wish I had known that before booking. The host was difficult to communicate with. There were a handful of other issues with the property, which were mostly out of the owner’s control: broken AC in the trailer, rendering 1/3 of the “bedrooms” (one bedroom and one twin bed in the middle of the trailer’s kitchen/living room area) unusable and the sprinklers were run every afternoon, at the hottest point of the day for over 4 hours (not really a problem, just a huge waste of water). The farm itself is pretty, and being able to use the creek was nice, but this property is not worth the price.

Boy did we have a though time with this stay. We are in the country and we get mice. It is unacceptable for a mouse trap to me out while there are guests in the house. I cannot guarantee that your stay will go perfectly, but I I take my role as host really seriously. I immediately refunded Leah $100 when they found a mouse trap. This listing is for the whole ranch and consists of three separate living areas, the space is flexible. In describing the space we have 4 bedrooms and three living rooms. Two of those living rooms have beds and when using the house as one group, we use just one of the living rooms and the den in Meadowlands and the Spartan living space are used as additional bedrooms. Our photographs are current and accurate, and this flexibility is described in the listing. The air-conditioning in the Spartan died the day of her stay. I had a repairman come out that 7/4 and again 7/5 but we could don’t get it to work. I refunded Leah the full amount of that listing including all the fees. Despite refunding her twice over $500, Leah asked for over $1,100 in refunds. She did say that she would remove this review if I gave her an additional $600.

Perfect for a weekend of rafting!

We went on a whitewater rafting trip for a friend's bachelor party and this place was perfect. It is spacious and it's really setup for a nice group vacation with plenty of seating for everyone to hang out together. The sleeping situation is pretty communal, with multiple beds even in the master bedroom, so if you are looking for privacy during a family vacation it might not be the best choice. But we liked it because we could all just hang out together, even when it was time to call it a night. Kind of like being at camp but with nicer linens. Would definitely stay again if we find ourselves back in that area!

My husband and I love Kernville Ranch. We have both been involved in horses and hospitality for over 20 year. My husband manages a Dude Ranch in Los Angeles and I am managing the rental business up here in the Kern River Valley. I won a Hero Award for hosting vacation rentals in 2014. I take my role as your host very seriously. I am also a painter and a mum. I hope that you have a wonderful time making memories here that will last a lifetime.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Kernville Ranch is beautiful. We are very grateful to be able to share our love of the ranch, the town and the wilderness with you. Nestled in the water meadows and originally a dairy, Kernville Ranch is just a 10 minuet walk from the center of Kernville. Plenty of fishing and white water rafting, hiking and hot springs and snow play. Explore the lake for water-sports, the high country for pristine wilderness and a little snow. The town is full of restaurants, antiques stores, and a wonderful museum, rich with snippets of history heritage of this Wild West town.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

We are at the base of the immense wilderness of the Sequoia National Forest, next to the Kern River and Lake Isabella. The area is renowned for hiking, fishing, river rafting and wilderness experiences abound. We are also just a 10 minuet walk to the town with all the modern conveniences of restaurants and shops, banks and such.

We have a river that runs on the property (April through December). The swimming hole in the summer is a lovely natural playground. Catch frogs, watch the herons and osprey, maybe say “Hi” to the barn owl or the badger by the gate. Enjoy the snow and little ski resort just 15 minutes up the hill.

Adventures abound on Kernville Ranch.
