Luxury guesthouse

Ideally located close to the millennial city of Bayeux and only a few kilometers away from the American D-Day beaches, Le Clos de Blisse offers the perfect base to discover the historical and cultural treasures of Normandy.

Juno Lodge, Utah House and Omaha Mansion are the three guesthouses available within the 8-hectare property. With no vis-à-vis, each benefit from its own private garden and terrace.

All are state-of-the art renovations of 18th century buildings dating back from the French Revolution. Whilst retaining many original features, they provide the highest modern comfort (underfloor heating, wifi, apple tv).

Overlooking the water and the surrounding Norman countryside, the swimming pool and sauna will make of your holiday the most relaxing stay. Swimming pool open from beginning of May until end of October.

Absolutely lovely peaceful stay. The kids aging from celebrating 2nd birthday up to 10 years old loved it. Perfect location for exploring WW2.
Celebrating my husband and nephews birthday made the stay even more memorable.

Wonderful property.

This is simply the best property we have ever stayed at. Everything was perfect and exactly as listed. Samuelle was so incredibly helpful but not intrusive in the slightest. The location is tranquil but there is lots to do within a 20 minute drive. I was sad to leave this perfect place.

The best place to spend a Christmas holiday

We loved the Omaha mansion, it was the best place for our family to spend a week. Samuelle, the host, gave us a warm welcome The weather was stormy and wet, but it was warm and cozy in the house. The fireplace was warm. The kitchen was great with its ovens, we used it every day. Everything was very good.

Wonderful Family Holiday with children and toddlers!

A very warm welcome by Sam, the host, awaited us upon arrival at her beautiful home in Vouilly. True to listing details, the ‘luxury guesthouse’, was exceptional in all respects- French country charm at its very best- tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Loved the rustic touch of the fully stocked kitchen. What a peaceful country setting- village church bells ringing; white doves cooing and crickets singing as evening came! Buddy the dog stole our hearts. The enclosed, spacious garden- with a park area- was ideal for our little ones to run around freely and safely. The swimming pool certainly took first prize! Such luxury! The house is ideally located for visiting the historic D-Day sites: the American Cemetery at Omaha; the military Museum; the landing beaches… ‘Lest we forget!’ The Sunday market at Port en Bessin; the toffee factory at Isigny –sur-Mer and Bayeux all visit ‘musts’ . So much to do, such little time. Sam is a very friendly and helpful host –nothing was too much for her, even sharing a little of her evening meal, tasty beef cheeks and champagne. What a chef! What a photographer! Her artistic work – family portraits and gilded country scenes are simply outstanding! Sam’s property is within easy reach of Cherbourg and Ouistreham ports. We highly recommend a visit! We would return!

Samuelle is just wonderful host, kind, cheerful, responsive, helpful ... Moved the beds inside the house to accommodate our needs. The house itself is SO beautiful, the design is spotless. It’s such a joy for eyes, every detail (literary) is thought through and chosen with great taste, charm and delicacy. And anything and everything you would ever need is there. Pool and sauna are so cute and perfect, garden, animals, morning boulangerie delivery…. bref I want to go back :D. There is few houses on the property, but we never felt it, and pool was never crowded. Thank you Samuelle! I ll make sure to come back again

Samuelle est une hôtesse très attentionnée et accueillante. Des les premiers moments sur la superbe propriété, nous étions séduit par la quiétude et le calme des lieux. Omaha Mansion est fidèle aux photos et nous avons été enchantés par le décor. Bien qu’à la campagne, les lieux historiques sont facilement accessibles, tout comme les marchés et autres. Les croissants, chocolatines, et pain livrés à chaque jour étaient bien appréciés. Merci infiniment à notre hôtesse!

Spacious, tasteful and comfortable stay in Normandy

What a delight it has been for one-week stay for us two, plus our daughter, son-in-law and grand-son (aged 2.5 years). The house is spacious on three level, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Gardens front and back with barbecue, chaises longues, large table chairs outside with parasol - and swings / slide and there is green spaces all around too. The pool is great and located in one of the half-opened barns and there is a hot-tub and sauna, near the large pond with a few ducks and geese. The eight colombes make a lovely sight at all times. The Clos is handsome and wonderfully peaceful, with the nearby church only ringing twice a day at 7h/19h. And at 8am, Madame La Boulangère drives in with fresh croissants and bread or anything you would have ordered the night before. Of course, how not to mention Mrs Samuelle Carlson, the owner, the most charming of host with a large body of knowledge about the region, its history, architecture and art and more.

Wonderful!

My husband and kids, along with my parents, stayed at the Omaha Mansion for a week in early May. I don’t even know where to begin. The house is stunning, in both location and decoration. While conveniently located near a small town with grocery store, markets, and shopping, the property itself is private and beautifully maintained. The garden is flat, green, and has a playset for kids (which mine used every day, and are begging for us to put into our own yard back here in the States). There is also an outdoor table, grill, pizza oven, and large dining table. We ate outside almost every night. The inside of the house is equally beautiful. Samuelle has an incredible sense of design, and many of the art pieces around the house are from her travels. And, while meticulously decorated, it also feels comfortable and family-friendly. My kids quickly discovered the third floor with toys and a pool table. The entire house has been renovated, and while the kitchen and bathrooms have all the modern updates, she has maintained the historical integrity and style of the house. It honestly felt like home for the week. The location of the house in Vouilly is ideal for exploring all of Normandy. We rented a car for the week, and visited the D-Day beaches and Pointe du Hoc, Bayeaux, Mont Ste. Michel, Honfleur, Cherbourg, and many of the small towns in between. Samuelle is a most gracious hostess – always there to answer any questions you have, but also totally respectful of your privacy. I highly recommend ordering the croissants and baked goods to be delivered in the morning. There is nothing like waking up and finding these sitting outside your window!! We can’t wait to go back and stay again.

Merveilleux

Nous avons passé une semaine exceptionnelle dans une maison merveilleuse. La maison et très grande, les mobiliers sont de très bon goût avec une note individuelle. Il y a une petite histoire pour beaucoup de machin qui on peut trouver dans la maison. Tout est très bon équipe et c'est un grand plaisir de passer du temp dans la maison (La grande cuisine et la salle a manger ou dans la salle de séjour avec le Cheminée) et le jardin avec sa terrasse. On peut aussi prendre le petit bateau pour faire "une promenade" sur la laque. Samuelle et leur famille sont très gentil et très sympa. Le clos de blisse est un lieu parfait pour découvrir le pay de calvados. Nous allons revenir!

Top accommodatie

We hebben een hele fijne week gehad. Heel erg mooi groot huis met alle voorzieningen aanwezig, ook voor kleine kinderen. Aardige goed Engels sprekende gastvrouw. Fijn binnen zwembad en sauna waar je ten alle tijden gebruik van kunt maken. Echt een aanrader!

Most beautiful place

This is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at. The owner, Samuelle, has thought of every detail, making it a home from home. There are toys for the kids, plus they really enjoyed playing pool and feeding the ducks. The swimming pool is in the barn, which is was nice for the kids to avoid the sun. We had an amazing time!

Samuelle spent ten years living in England before returning to Paris and finally settling in Normandy where she has restored Le Clos de Blisse for the past ten years.

Graduate in History of Art at the School of Le Louvre and Dr in Anthropology from Cambridge University, she teaches for the American Universities in Paris and has obtained the title of National Guide and offers tours for the D-Day Landing Beaches.
