At 4:50pmâafter the 3:00pm check-inâI still had no check-in instructions while halfway through an 18-hour drive. Despite a texting glitch, the main issue was the lack of communication. I contacted the host through the VRBO app, booking chat, and phone number with no response. Had I not stopped to resolve it myself, we may not have had access when arriving late at night. This appears to be a strict 9amâ5pm operation with slow or no responses.Upon arrival, the home had a strong musty/moldy odor. The keypad was corroded, the stair carpet heavily stained, and the door frame broken with the deadbolt barely secured. Maintenance later dropped off a DampRid, which did nothing. I reduced the odor myself after days of running the HVAC.The home needs significant updates: damaged trim and cabinets, moldy and deteriorating master bath ceiling, patio screens and shower door that donât slide, very small showers, nails sticking up on the deck, and only one shower can be used at a time. The pool was not disclosed as unheated until check-in.This property may be fine for some but is not accurately represented. I did not get what I expected or paid for.Positives: Location, location, location.
