The space
We invite you to our cozy slice of heaven located just 5 minutes from both Bryce Resort and Lake Laura sprawled across 3,600sqft.

Pulling up the road and around the bend, you’ll find The House over The Pond soaring into view. You’ll immediately be greeted by the soothing murmur of the stream running below, easing you into a peaceful state of mind.

While our illuminated bridge is delightful to experience, the best is yet to come past the gorgeously hand-carved double doors.

Step inside and up 4 stairs to find the conversation pit beckoning you to sit, light a fire, and enjoy the unparalleled views of nature beneath vaulted, cathedral ceilings.

Resisting the hovering fireplace, you’ll notice a sweeping deck just past the grand windows which provides access to refreshing mountain air, a gas grill for hot meals, and the best view of the pond. Legend has it that a wise old turtle inhabits these waters, and will make himself known to a select few.

Turning back into the house, and just behind the sunken fireplace is the full kitchen. We’ve equipped it with everything you need to prepare healthy, delicious meals. In fact, guests have prepared complete Thanksgiving dinners here, roast turkey and all!

If you’re working from home, two of the best places are on either side of the recessed fire pit: the living room with the large sectional sofa and 50” TV or the formal dining room. Both are flanked by large covered decks of their own, helping to bring the outdoors a little closer to home.

When the kids are getting too rowdy, send them down to the lower level where they can release their energy on the games, including air hockey, darts, foosball, and pool. They don’t even have to come upstairs, not when they’ve got 2 bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a kitchenette and 4 balconies to call their own.

Finally, when you’re ready to curl up for the night, there are a whopping 5 bedrooms, complete with 6 beds (including the bunk beds) to choose from, each with its own bathroom. No more waiting in the mornings!

Plus, the house is near a handful of breweries and wineries as well as Shenandoah and Luray Caverns. There are plenty of activities both inside and out, for kids of all ages.
Guest access (no char limit)
There are no keys to lose or to return! This property provides secure, keyless entry with a smart lock for a contactless check-in. You can unlock the door with your personal entry code issued to you for the duration of your stay.

The House over the Pond is accessed by way of a sturdy, wooden bridge we’ve recently reinforced. We’ve provided plenty of outdoor lighting to make accessing the property and your vehicles easy at night.

There are three small sets of stairs that must be used to initially enter this home, once on the bridge, a second by the front porch, and again just inside. Later, the lower level can be accessed by way of just three steps next to the parking spaces at the side.

Cell phone service can get pretty weak as you approach Basye, fortunately our WiFi connection is very strong! We definitely suggest setting up your GPS on your phone before departing from The House over The Pond.

★ PEST CONTROL & WILDLIFE ★
Our home is well maintained and treated periodically for pests and insects. However, we cannot control the occasional bug creeping in to say hello or found dead (this a good sign as we have a pest control subscription).

If you happen to see a bug just let us know, we can schedule our pest control service. We don't foresee this being an issue during your stay, but we wanted to mention it.

Trash cans are at the top of the driveway in wooden boxes to prevent wildlife from getting in.

★ NO SMOKING INSIDE ★
Please refrain from smoking inside our home! Any smoking evidence will result in a fee for odor removal, air duct and furniture cleaning.
