Location, location, location! Our family of 5 stayed for two nights in the middle of June’s extreme heat wave. The house kept us cool even with one AC unit in the living room. The roller shutters help keep the heat away and the pool cooled us off! When we arrived, Lucas came to greet us at the door and showed us around. Also the pool maintenance guy came by to shock the pool. Unfortunately the next day the water turned green. I don’t blame them since the heat wave was so intense. The rooms are super spacious with huge closet spaces. There was one toilet room (no sink inside), one individual shower and the other shower is an ensuite. Note that there are no toiletries in the bathrooms like soap or shampoo. The toilet paper the provide is minimal. We did ask Lucas to bring some over and he did within 30 minutes. There is a separate cottage with a full bathroom but we didn’t even have to use it. The location is right beside two large canoeing outfits. One of the them has a public beach access with a small swing set and a pétanque box. The drive to Sarlat is only 10 minutes and so is La Roque-Gageac. Now the downside is that the house has a smell of cat urine but it is not the furniture, floors or linen. A little airing out of the house solved the problem. This property is in the countryside and on septic so it can have that famous French « odeur ». This was the only downside to our stay. We would 100% stay here again!
