Let me welcome you to our beautiful city! This luxurious abode is located 15 walking minutes from Highland Park where you can take a stroll through and stop by the Rojo restaurant or stop for some quick java at O'henry's. It is also the same distance from the extraordinary night-life environment called Lakeview District which contains exciting bar-hopping adventures, dance club's and delicious food to clear the pallet. University of Alabama at Birmingham's campus is also right around the corner!

This African American woman solo traveler in town for a convention full of longtime associates and friends (last-minute decision, so I missed out on the main and overflow hotels) really appreciated a place to chill, read, make my toast and tea away from the heart of the action. This bungalow filled the bill. It was close to the downtown convention center and many civil rights sites I wanted to see in Birmingham, a pretty easy city to navigate with a smart phone. My own place is older, so I appreciated the tile fireplace hearth, transom windows and other period details. The property owner communicated promptly, thoroughly and clearly — VERY helpful, as I'm a digital non-native still getting accustomed to apps. Everything I'd have required was available at the house. That which wasn't, such as my own tea, I brought with me. In all, a good experience that helped affirm my decision to drive from a couple of states away.

No communication - house still needs work

The owner has worked to make it look cute inside, decent furniture and the bedrooms were nice. It was clean, tidy and looked well taken care of. The bathroom needs some work. Its an old house so it has old house issues. When I arrived, I realized I didn’t feel comfortable where the house was located. I saw the general area when I booked it, but didn’t realize it was near the highway underpass and next to places of businesses. When you opened the windows - looked right at the building and into the windows. Its on a busy street and behind the house is a shared space that is small and backs up to another house. I was there less than two hours and then left. It was cold, old houses can have trouble heating up and the windows let the cold in. The toilet wouldn’t flush. So I called the owner and sent him a message in the first thirty minutes I was there. Thought I might be able to stay if the toilet and heat could work. It got dark, so I decided to just leave since he wasn’t responding. I didn’t stay there and left it like I found it - clean and tidy, untouched.
