Woodward Lake Sanctuary - Perfect Getaway Minutes From Town

Woodward Lake Sanctuary offers a peaceful, tranquil setting abundant in water fowl (geese, ducks, heron, loons, cranes) perfect for kayaking, breathtaking sunrise/sunset, yet minutes away from downtown Cadillac, Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell, biking, hiking, snowmobile trails, ski resorts, golf courses, restaurants, and winery. A 40-minute drive to Traverse City offers Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, annual Cherry Festival, restaurants, and local theatre entertainment.

This home away from home offers the comforts and amenities in a cozy, warm eco-friendly setting for relaxation, decompression, and an opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends. A selection of coffee, tea, spices, and essential cookware for meal preparation is available, Wi-Fi and Smart TV for indoor entertainment, and two kayaks, a 12’ aluminum rowboat, propane and charcoal grills, and fire pit for outdoor entertainment.

As this is an eco-friendly environment, removal of footwear is encouraged (indoor shoes or slippers an alternative option) in order to protect indoor setting from outdoor toxins such as bacteria. This is also a pet-free environment for the protection of those with allergies.

Three bedroom, 1.5 bath, on a small lake, kitchen had everything we needed. About a 10 min drive to Cadillac. Everything was clean.We stayed there while ice fishing on Hodenpyl and Mitchell. I'll be staying here again if available when I return for my next trip.Two bedrooms share the half bath. Ideal place for taking it easy and relaxing or just using as a home base while exploring the area. Great experience.

We had a great bike race weekend at this location. It was very clean and comfortable and we appreciate the kitchen and cooking amenities, even a few basics in the pantry was nice. There was low water pressure though which made showers interesting. That’s our only complaint. It was a nice place to lay our heads during a fun weekend.

Such a great place to stay amazing view we are on a high school fishing tournament so we are up early and back late. It would be a great place for a family to go and spend a weekend on the lake. Wish we would’ve had more downtime to enjoy it but all in all it was a perfect place to stay very close to town but yet nice and quiet thanks again.

Wonderful host. Great communication. Its the thoughtful things that meant alot. chocolates on the pillows , towels laid out, fresh flowers and cut wood all ready for use. Not to mention the beautiful view. My family really thanks you for the use of your property and for you being such a great host.

We had a nice stay at Woodward Lake Sanctuary! It was very clean and the fresh lake air was wonderful. Chocolates on the pillows were a nice touch. She even had a package of baby wipes for us because she knew we were bringing our baby, very considerate. Air conditioners were pulled for season by mid September. Just an fyi

was great. lots of fire wood. only problem was the mucky bottom of lake. difficult to get into kayak. I realize the lake was really low , so may have been the problem. Beds great.

Peaceful Location

We enjoyed our long weekend on at the house on the lake. It was peaceful and we had a bonfire each night. Lake was not busy and quiet.

The entire week was absolutely incredible. Love every feature of the home. Close proximity to Cadillac & Traverse City. Love the entire area in Northern MI. Ruth Essig was above & beyond an excellent hose. She was knowledgeable & very friendly. Lookong forward to our week in '26.
