Enjoy the water parks in Scharbeutz (Baltic hot springs) and at the Weissenhäuser beach (subtropical bathing paradise). The Hansa Park offers adventure. The Sealife Center in Timmendorf and the bird park in Niendorf are definitely worth a visit. The museum farmstead in Lensahn gives you an impression of the historical country life. The boats leave directly from the Haffkrug pier (5 min walk) and from the surrounding harbours. The cruises may take you to our Scandinavian neighbours. You can also take a cruise on one of the numerous lakes (i. e. B. Plöner Lake District). Go on a sightseeing flight at the airport Sierksdorf / Hof Altona to enjoy the astonishing view over the beautiful east Holstein and the bordering coast. You can practice your high sea fishing in Neustadt, Niendorf and at the harbours. There are a lot of sailing schools in the bordering villages and you might be able to rent a small sailing yacht. Fans of water skiing will enjoy themselves in Scharbeutz (lift in the sea) and in Süsel (lift in the lake). We strongly recommend a visit on the four-masted bark `Passat ´on the Privall in Travemünde or a visit on the U-boat in Laboe (Kiel) for those who love boats.

Cultural and other highlights: Spring starts with the Jazz-Festival in Plön am See from Ascension Day till Sunday. In the last full week of June there will be the 'Kieler Woche', one of the most famous sailing sport events worldwide with the sailor parade. The nationwide Schleswig-Holstein music festival and almost at the same time the Eutiner summer games will take place in July and August in the castle garden of Rosenstadt. You will have the whole summer to go and see the Karl May-games in Bad Segeberg. The musical capital Hamburg offers you a large choice of cultural activities.
