One of our BEST family vacations
Sinople Farm is quite a place... secluded and private, yet within 10 minutes of everything you could possibly need. We had a fabulous time and did not want to leave.
We were 5 adults and 2 young children and there was room for at least 4 more people. The house is historic and sprawling. The property is large, leading down to a dock where we fished and launched the hosts' kayaks. The beds were very comfortable with most en suite. Speaking of which, if baths are important to you, then you should definitely consider this home. They were modern beautiful.
The pool is epic and we spent part of every day in it. There were kids' chairs and pool toys. Inside, there were plenty of toys, too.
Sitting on the back porch to watch the sun go down was an highlight of every day. It was also fun to watch the ospreys including a juvenile who left the nest on our final day there.
As I said, the convenience is unbeatable considering how away from the crowds the home is. From the incredible Annmarie Sculpture Garden with artworks comparable to MoMA and the Smithsonian, to the maritime museum, to parks and trails, groceries, restaurants, and seafood markets, there was plenty of unexpected stuff to see and do.
From the start, communication with Didi and Jean was seamless. There was always a quick response if we had questions.
Already thinking about another trip to Sinople Farm...

Huge disappointment
We’ve been to Solomons and Lusby before and absolutely love that area. We stayed at Rousby Hall. We decided to celebrate our 50th wedding Anniversary there with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandkids ages 7 and 4. Among other things, a pool at our disposal for the grandkids was very important. That’s why we made this VRBO reservation. 2 days before our trip, we received 5 pages of email detailing do’s and don’t from the owner. We were told that we had to launder our sheets and put them back on the bed. We were given instructions to refill the propane tank on the grill. There were other issues. It made us wonder what the $350 cleaning fee was for. But it got worse.
The night before our reservation, we received an email from the owner telling us that the pump on the pool as broken, and that the pool was unusable. We tried to salvage the weekend. We asked about the beach on the property, but only received a vague description of it. When asked about our options, we were given no help. We asked about a cancellation and refund, and were immediately give the info on how to proceed. We felt that we were being encouraged to cancel. We felt we had no choice. We were given no advice or options.
It was very discouraging. We had a very special celebration planned and it was completely ruined. And the attitude seemed to be that it’s just our tough luck. Dealing with this issue was completely frustrating.

This is such a lovely old house!
We stayed here for a week in July 2018. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for the 8 of us. Unfortunately it rained for most of our stay, but we were very happy at this house. We all loved going down to the dock to fish and crab. Kayaked out to get crabs from a fisherman one day. And we loved watching the osprey!!

Wonderful stay at the farmhouse on the bay!
The stay at the farmhouse was the perfect gathering in celebration of our daughter’s upcoming wedding. My nephews enjoyed the grand piano which entertained everyone. My parents enjoyed sitting out on the porch watching the sailboats go by. The dining room was very spacious for large families. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock. Well worth the money for the fond family memories!

magnificent property in a exceptional location
When you enter the property and you see the view on the river, you know you will love it. The house is cozy and classy and decorated very tastefully. We already stayed here a couple of times and whether with a small party or a large party, everybody finds his/her spot to relax: reading on the porch, playing the piano, sitting by the fire place, fishing on the deck... We dined outside under an old tree or in the warm dining room. The kids loved to play soccer, go kayaking, swimming, playing board games. Waking up with a splendid view on the river is another exceptional experience. The owners have tons of suggestions of activities to do: visit the museum on the Chesapeake, go hiking or biking in a national park, play golf... and they are very friendly and helpful.

Perfectly beautiful house and location
This is a spot which is really ideal for a quiet vacation with friends and family. The house is lovely and spacious. The property with its setting right on the river couldn't be nicer. The location is also excellent because for all the feeling of peace and solitude, you are still close to shops, beaches, restaurants and interesting state parks so there is plenty to do.

Lovely retreat
The first thing my daughter did was disown her shoes and climb a tree out back. The breeze off the Bay made even the hottest days nice, dinners on the front porch, playing on the beach, and a house with more places to play hide and seek than you could shake a stick at. Don't rent this place. We don't want the competition. ;-)

Complete Relaxation!
Our family had the opportunity to share this home with our friends this past summer.
Having several teenagers on board, we feared that the location would lack activities to keep
them busy.
Turns out that we never got to complete the "places to go" list simply because the house, the location, the views, are all so wonderfully relaxing that we couldn't get enough of them!
I would highly recommend this home. The house is a combination of a historical farm house with the
modern day amenities. It's beautiful. The home owners were wonderful. Quick to respond to inquiries.
We hope to visit Sinople Farm again!

Lovely farmhouse with stellar views
We spent a week in July at Sinople Farm. The farmhouse is lovely, with many modern amenities. And you can't beat the view! Close to many activities for all ages. The owners are very responsive with all questions that you have. Thanks to Diep and Jean for a charming, relaxing escape.

We'd stay here again in an instant!
This is a beautiful, unique house and property. The decor is tasteful, the bathrooms are luxurious (glorious river-rock showers and designer fixtures), and the setting is idyllic. The water views are amazing! My husband, son and I stayed here over Spring Break and Easter weekend. While this property certainly would be very comfortable for a large family or group, it's also suitable for a small family. Because of the expansiveness of the house and grounds, we felt like we were staying at our dream inn - and were fortunate enough to have it all to ourselves! We really enjoyed exploring this part of Maryland and definitely would like to return, especially now that we've found this wonderful place to stay. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Maritime Museum, hiking to the Calvert Cliffs, and looking for fossils along the beach. The property was very clean and well-maintained, as described in the listing. The owners were incredibly helpful and very nice. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to our family and friends.

All Things Magnificent - Sinople Farm
Sinople Farm exudes calm and space, good taste, and beauty of every kind both outside and inside.
A group of 5 women over 50 gathered (and will gather again) for a reunion. We needed 5 bedrooms - and there are even more sleeping spaces. And plentiful gathering spaces and rooms for sitting and reading and bathrooms with remarkable modern design.
The feel of this wonderful house/home is an unusual combination of loving the original old part of the house with Colonial colors on the walls and 3 staircases going to the upper two floors with all modern conveniences and respect for environmental well-being.
It is on the water with a pier and boats and views of the sunset to cherish and soothe the spirit.
It is a drivable distance from the DC and Baltimore areas and a gem of luxurious living combined with distinct simplicity.
I shall go anytime I am able to and consider the owners generous beyond words. In fact so much so that because we left the house so very clean, for the first time in my life renting homes through VRBO, they were kind enough to reduce our cleaning fee.
There is no way to be disappointed!

Magical Sinople Farm
We rented Sinople Farm sight unseen and were thrilled when we arrived and discovered the beautiful setting and historical house with lovely antiques and totally up-to-date bathrooms and amenities. We kayaked, rode bikes, cooked out, watched the sunset over the Patuxent River from the porch rocking chairs and generally had the most relaxing and enjoyable time. The place is immaculate, and since we were bringing a turkey to cook that night, I was relieved that the stove was substantial and had a convection option. All the appliances were top-of-the-line. I think what we loved most was the space afforded by several living areas, so that the seven of us (adults) could be together or apart as the spirit moved us. We plan to return next year again. The owner was extremely helpful and right on top of things when we called her with questions. There are state parks, golf courses, wineries and sport fishing boats in nearby Solomons Island. We ate out once at Stoney's Kingfisher restaurant in town which was OK. The Tiki Bar is fun for drinks, if the weather is good. The best part is that it's only an hour and a half from Washington, DC, where we live, without going over the Bay Bridge.

Magical week
Our extended family of 11 (ranging in age from 78 to 18 months) had a wonderful week here with just the right mix of doing nothing and doing something. The location and setting are unbeatable and the house utterly lovely. We took a vote and unanimously agreed we want to come back again next year.
