Entire 2-Acre Island - No other cottages - just you and your family - Crow Lake
Crow Lake - South Frontenac - 1 Hour north of Kingston - 90 Minutes west of Ottawa
This is an off grid family cottage. 4 Bedrooms and a loft sleeps 11. Unplug and Unwind on a private island!
The island is fully forested with large oaks and mature pines along with several other deciduous species. There is a lovely black sand beach at the boat dock that is excellent for swimming. The trail up from the boat dock starts with natural steps up to a trail through the forest. There is about a 50 foot elevation gain from the water to the cottage. There are other trails that run to the southern tip of the island and along the waters edge. By autumn, the water level will have dropped enough to make it around the island on the rocks. Some are smooth and hold the heat and are great to sit on to absorb some heat after swimming.
There is a modern propane stove/oven and fridge. Lake water is pumped up to holding tanks for gravity feed to the sinks, shower and the composting toilet. Built in the early 1970's it is a traditional family cottage with big picture windows, Cathedral Ceilings on a extremely clear spring feed lake. Lots of deck and dock space to lay in the sun and enjoy the out of doors. You are here for the water, the view and the sounds of nature. The loons call almost every evening at twilight.
This is a cottage and is meant to feel a bit rustic. There is no electricity. Plan to bring extra batteries packs or leave your phones turned off. No smoking on the island and please no open flame or camp fires after the season we are experiencing! You can launch you own boat at the OSO Township dock in Crow Lake Village. We include parking for two vehicles (one with a boat trailer). We can work out a water taxi arrangement if you don't have a boat.
The fishing is spectacular on Crow Lake and is a renown destination for people who love to fish! Healthy populations of Bass, Walleye (Pickerel), Pike, Lake Trout and other species are plentiful.
Get back to your Canadian heritage and be closer to nature. There is a canoe with life jackets available. Crow is a managed lake that feeds into Bob's Lake which feeds the Tay River into the Rideau Canal system. You can pass thru to Bob's Lake thru the south end of Crow Lake with a boat. It does get shallower as the season progresses.
There are jumping rocks opposite the island on Crown Land. The entire area to the East of the Island is Crown Land and unpopulated.
