À propos de cet hébergement

2 Miles to Going-to-the-Sun Road - Glacier NP – 8 Private Wooded Acres – Hot Tub

Welcome to Three Bear Basecamp. Glad you discovered us.

Thank you for considering our home for your Glacier National Park visit.

** Planning a 2027 Glacier Visit?

Our 2027 calendar is not yet open. Because Three Bear Basecamp (3BB) is our family MT home, we welcome only 12 guest stays each year & are carefully reviewing dates, rates & minimum-stay requirements before releasing the season.

Please use Vrbo’s "Contact Host" option to share your preferred dates, group size & Glacier plans. We’re happy to answer questions & note your interest, although dates cannot be held or reserved before the calendar officially opens.

** A Private Glacier Home Close to the Park.

Finding a home this close to Glacier—with eight private wooded acres, room for families & larger groups & the comforts of home—is surprisingly rare.

3BB is just 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road & only minutes from Glacier’s West Entrance. That makes early starts, midday breaks & spontaneous evening trips into the Park much easier, while still giving guests a peaceful place to return to among the trees.

We’ve always tried to create a place where family & friends can spend less time driving & more time experiencing Glacier together.

Glacier is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you return home. The mountains, lakes & rivers are spectacular, of course, but it’s often the quieter moments people remember most—a child spotting wildlife for the first time, laughter around the fire after dinner, coffee on the deck before the house wakes up, birdsong, a cool breeze through the trees, aspen leaves dancing overhead or simply slowing down for a while.

That’s the kind of experience we’ve tried to create at Three Bear Basecamp for family.

** More Time for Glacier & One Another.

Being this close to the Park makes it easier to head in for sunrise, return for lunch or make one more evening drive along Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Many guests tell us that pulling into the driveway feels like taking a deep breath after a full day of exploring. Several have shared that they spent more time inside Glacier simply because coming & going was so easy.

Less time driving.
Less time sitting in traffic.
More time hiking, watching wildlife, sharing meals & simply being together.

It may look like a small difference on the map, but it can become one of the biggest advantages of the week.

** A Home Designed for Connection

3BB was thoughtfully designed for families, multigenerational gatherings, couples & compatible groups of friends.

The home sleeps up to 12 guests in real beds—never sofa sleepers or futons. There are inviting places to gather, along with quieter corners to read, soak in the hot tub, enjoy the forest views or simply listen to the sounds of the seasons.

One of our favorite parts of every Glacier day is coming home.

Someone starts the grill. Someone else gets the fire going. Kids disappear to play while the adults catch up on the day’s adventures. Before long, everyone finds their way back together.

During Montana’s long summer days, guests naturally drift between the decks, yard, outdoor kitchen & fire pits, with conversations often continuing long after dinner is over.

** Sleeping Arrangements

The home includes two enclosed upstairs bedrooms plus a spacious, open lower-level bunkhouse with the Little Bear Den & Bison Loft above. The lower level & both lofts are open to one another rather than fully enclosed bedrooms.

The Little Bear Den has a blackout privacy shade, but neither loft has a solid door. This open design supports airflow, safety & connection to the rest of the home.

The layout works especially well for families & multigenerational groups who are comfortable with a mix of private bedrooms & open sleeping spaces.

3BB Beds include:
- Two kings
- Three queens
- One twin bunk bed

Because photos can only show so much, we strongly encourage prospective guests to view our 3-D interior tour before booking. It gives the clearest understanding of the bedrooms, lofts, lower-level layout & shared interior spaces.

** A Kitchen Made for Real Meals

The kitchen is truly the heart of the home.

We enjoy cooking, so we’ve equipped it the way we’d want our own family kitchen to be equipped. Whether you’re packing lunches before an early hike or preparing dinner after a full day in Glacier, you should find the tools you need in both the main kitchen & summer kitchen.

Guests often tell us it’s one of the best-stocked kitchens they’ve experienced in a vacation home.

Meals here tend to be relaxed & wonderfully informal. Some guests gather around the kitchen island while others enjoy the elevated deck table overlooking the forest or one of several outdoor dining areas.

The layout makes it easy to move between cooking, eating, talking & spending time outside without feeling separated from the group.

** Life in the Quiet Woods

Each season brings something a little different.

Hummingbirds return in spring. Wild strawberries appear around the property. Robins build nests beneath the porch overhangs & below the north-facing primary-bedroom deck. Beargrass blooms in June, while huckleberries & thimbleberries ripen later in summer. The large compass-rose fire pit wildflowers in bloom from Spring into Fall.

Year after year, mother deer have chosen these quiet woods to give birth & raise their fawns. There’s something deeply peaceful about watching them return to a place where they seem to feel safe.

Guests may also spot foxes—including the occasional cross fox—pine martens, owls, elk & other wildlife moving through the property. Glacier & the National Forest are our surrounding neighborhood.

Wildlife is never guaranteed, of course, which makes each sighting feel like a small Montana gift.

** Helping You Make the Most of Glacier

Glacier is wonderfully unpredictable. Weather, road access, wildlife closures, construction & Park operations can all shape a visit, sometimes from one day to the next.

One of our favorite parts of hosting is helping guests sort through the possibilities. Glacier offers so many remarkable places that deciding how to spend limited vacation time can feel almost as challenging as getting here.

We’re happy to help you think through what matters most to your group—wildlife, alpine scenery, easy walks, waterfalls, longer hikes, time on the water, quieter places or simply a slower pace.

Whether you’re traveling with young children, grandparents, first-time visitors or experienced hikers, we can help narrow the options & think realistically about drive time, energy levels & the natural rhythm of your stay.

We don’t believe there’s one perfect Glacier itinerary. Every group is different, & the best trip is the one especially shaped around the people taking it.

** What Guests Often Remember

Guests frequently mention many of the same things in their reviews:

* How close the home is to Glacier
* How peaceful it feels after a busy day in the Park
* The well-equipped kitchen
* Wildlife sightings around the property
* Indoor & outdoor gathering spaces
* Our local recommendations
* Having someone available before & during their stay

Those comments mean a great deal to us.

We’ve never wanted 3BB to feel like just another vacation rental. We hope it becomes a place where people reconnect, make wonderful memories together & leave with an even deeper appreciation for Glacier & this beautiful corner of Montana.

** Bringing an RV?

For select multigenerational stays, one self-contained RV may be approved for an additional fee. The RV must be supplied by the guest—either personally or through a local rental provider—and is available only with a 3BB reservation.

Advance approval is required. Please contact us through Vrbo before booking so we can discuss RV size, hook-ups & whether the arrangement is a good fit.

** A Few Practical Notes

* Just 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road & only minutes from Glacier’s West Entrance
* Sleeps up to 12 guests in real beds
* Two enclosed upstairs bedrooms plus an open lower-level bunkhouse & two open lofts
* Two king beds, three queen beds & one twin bunk bed
* Eight private wooded acres in a quiet neighborhood
* Optional premium hot tub for an additional fill & sanitation fee
* Outdoor kitchen, grills, fire pits, elevated decks & multiple outdoor dining areas
* Fast Wi-Fi
* Central air conditioning
* Reverse-osmosis drinking water & Culligan-softened water throughout the home
* Whole-house backup generator
* Only 12 guest stays each year, allowing us to prepare the home thoughtfully & provide a more personal guest experience

** Property & privacy

For guest safety & transparency, exterior security cameras monitor only the driveway, pump house & exterior entry areas. There are no cameras inside the home or in private guest-use spaces.

An owner storage shed, RV & maintenance equipment are kept behind fencing on a distant portion of the eight-acre property, well away from the home & principal guest gathering areas. This separate area does not share guest amenities, outdoor living areas or gathering spaces.

Depending on seasonal needs—including wildfire conditions—owners or service personnel may occasionally access this distant maintenance area. At other times, no one may be present during a guest stay. Any necessary access is always handled quietly & with respect for guest privacy.

** We’d be Honored to Welcome You

Thank you again for considering Three Bear Basecamp.

Please use Vrbo’s "Contact Host" option with questions about the home, sleeping layout or planning your Glacier vacation—or to request the 3-D tour link.

If 3BB sounds like the kind of Glacier experience you’re hoping for, we’d be honored to welcome you to our home & this very special corner of Montana.

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Patty & John S.

Image de profil de l’hôte
Three Bear Basecamp (3BB) is the realization of our family's dream to have a place right next to our favorite destination in the lower 48: Glacier National Park.

Our journey began back in the mid-1980s when we met in college in Florida. Patty, an avid hiker and camper, had spent years exploring all National Parks across the U.S. as a child. She would often tell John about the wonders of these parks. John, the youngest of seven, hadn’t traveled much, so while he understood how special the parks were to Patty, it wasn’t until our honeymoon in 1994 that he truly grasped the beauty of the American West. We took a spontaneous 14-hour road trip from the Rockies to the Grand Canyon, and traveling through Colorado and Utah at sunset, John was hooked.

A few years later, we started exploring National Parks as a family with our three young sons. When John asked Patty which park was her favorite, she immediately said Glacier—a place that had captured her heart in the early 70s. That was it! Glacier became the destination for our next big family adventure.

Over the years, we’ve explored countless National Parks, camping, hiking, and kayaking across the continent a dozen times. But starting in 2006, we spent 13 out of the next 15 years exploring Glacier. We've also organized group trips, multi-generational family adventures, and scout troop excursions in this incredible area.

We love Glacier, and we’re thrilled to share this special part of the world with others. Whether this is your first visit to Glacier or your twelfth, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

We explored many areas in Northwest Montana over the years, focusing on Flathead County and considering locations around Flathead Lake, Whitefish, and throughout the valley. But eventually, we asked ourselves a simple question: Why spend our precious family time driving to the places we love most?

Everything we enjoy—laughing with family and friends, hiking, kayaking, biking, rafting, swimming, backpacking, horseback riding, stargazing, watching the northern lights, picking huckleberries, and simply relaxing—was right here, next to Glacier National Park and just outside the busy Flathead Valley.

With Montana’s summer days being so special, we wanted to spend less time in the car and more time outside. Location became our top priority. From here, you have quick access to Glacier National Park and countless outdoor adventures, while still being close enough to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and live music of the Flathead Valley when you want them.

At the same time, this neighborhood offers the peace and quiet we value most—a serene, wooded setting filled with wildflowers and wildlife, away from traffic and peak-season park noise. It’s a place to truly unwind after full days of adventure.

For us, this location offers the perfect balance: epic beauty and outdoor access paired with genuine calm and privacy. If that resonates with you, we’d love to welcome you to Three Bear Basecamp—an ideal home base for exploring Glacier National Park and experiencing the best of Northwest Montana with the people you love.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

What makes Three Bear Basecamp unique is the balance it offers—true peace and privacy just minutes from Glacier National Park.

While Glacier welcomes over three million visitors each year, our home is tucked into a quiet, wooded setting where guests consistently comment on how calm and secluded it feels. You’re close enough for effortless access to the park, yet far enough away to fully unwind without traffic, congestion, or noise.

Three Bear Basecamp was intentionally designed for comfort and connection. There are no futons, sofa sleepers, or converted spaces—only real beds and thoughtfully designed living areas that allow groups to gather while still enjoying privacy. Guests often mention that the home feels more like a private retreat than a rental.

What truly sets us apart:
• A peaceful forested setting on 8 wooded acres
• Less than 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road
• Central A/C and heat, fast Wi-Fi (inside and out), and a full-house backup generator
• Exceptionally clean water with reverse osmosis, UV filtration, and water softening
• Multiple indoor and outdoor gathering spaces
• A large elevated deck, three fire pits, a fully equipped summer kitchen, and a premium 6-person hot tub

After decades of exploring Glacier and the surrounding area, we’ve designed Three Bear Basecamp around what actually enhances a stay here—comfort, reliability, and space to truly relax. We’re always happy to share local insight and recommendations to help guests make the most of their time.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-equipped home base near Glacier that prioritizes quality, comfort, and quiet, Three Bear Basecamp is a truly special place to stay.
