Lawless: A Boutique Basecamp in Rico

Lawless Rico is a boutique, loft-style property located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in the eclectic hamlet of Rico, Colorado. Located in the iconic Dey Building built in 1892, Lawless Rico is a fully remodeled top-level apartment that spans the entirety of this infamous southwestern Colorado landmark. Built from local stone and timbers and in the fashion of Georgian architecture, this building showcases the craftmanship of a bygone era. From the local Doug-fir flooring to its bronze crafted door hinges, there are stories in the structure of this place. Step back in time (and in style) and enjoy ample space to spread out with four large bedrooms, a living room that overlooks main street, a library / work room, two full baths, a large kitchen with laundry and curated artwork throughout! 

Each room thoughtfully blends Rico's rich mining and railroad past with nods to the neon cowboys that now call this authentic mountain town home. Situated above the Enterprise Bar & Grill (Colorado's 6th oldest operating bar!), Lawless Rico makes for the perfect basecamp for you and your crews’ San Juan adventures! Come enjoy world class mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, backcountry and x-country skiing in one of Colorado's last true mountain towns. Telluride's world class ski slopes (and pricey accommodations) are just 30 miles up the road. End your day with a beer and a burger downstairs (or some darts in the lower-level speak-easy) before heading up to the comforts of a hot shower and a soft bed! 

Rico travelers will also be rewarded with tasty provisions at one of our two incredible coffee shops where caffeine and calories are served up daily! Make sure you make a dinner reservation at The Prospector where you will be blown away by a chef driven menu in one of the region’s most lovingly curated eateries! Lawless Rico guests are also invited to soak in the riverside hot springs that lie just above main street to put the exclamation point on a truly unique mountain excursion.

Room #1: Enterprise Suite
Named after Rico’s most productive mine, the Enterprise Suite overlooks Glasgow Ave with views of Rico's iconic Dolores Peak. This room has a king bed, Ponderosa Pine trunk bench, ceiling fan, dresser and an adjoining living room with couch and sitting area. 

Room #2: Blackhawk Room
Named after the formidable and jagged Blackhawk peak (and best bike ride in the Rockies!), this Deluxe Bunk room has a queen over queen bunk set up, ceiling fan, dresser and sitting area.

Room #3: Metropole Room
Named after the original bar downstairs where miners mingled, the Metropole Room has a king bed, Ponderosa Pine trunk bench and side tables, ceiling fan, dresser and sitting area.

Room #4: Engel Room
Named after the iconic Rico family that were instrumental in establishing Rico as one of Colorado’s most prosperous mining towns, the Engel Room has a queen bed, Ponderosa Pine trunk bench and side tables, a ceiling fan, dresser and sitting area.
