'Quelle vue!' Ce seront vos premiers mots lorsque vous entrerez dans le Highlander Cottage.

Situé à seulement 30 minutes de Thunder Bay et à un peu plus d'une heure de Grand Marais, ce cottage du Minnesota est le point de départ idéal pour explorer et revenir chaque jour. REMARQUE: les clients canadiens doivent utiliser HomeAway. ca pour les prix canadiens.

Construit sur mesure avec des comptoirs en granit, des planchers de bois franc et des meubles en cuir, le cottage Highlander, ouvert toute l'année, offre à ses clients un style artisanal avec un petit poteau et une poutre jetés. L'inspiration pour l'aménagement d'un étage et d'un loft de 1800 pieds carrés était la vue panoramique sur le lac Supérieur ... aucun autre comme ça! J'ai conçu le plan d'étage avec un concept de salon / cuisine ouvert incorporant un petit loft de lecture confortable lorsque vous voulez vous évader. Les chambres sont conçues dans un esprit d'intimité. Ils sont aux extrémités opposées du chalet et chacun a sa propre salle de bain avec de grandes douches en carreaux de céramique. Pour les amateurs de bain, le maître a une baignoire sur pieds "ye ole".

Le salon a un grand foyer au gaz pour vous garder au chaud pendant que vous regardez à travers toutes les fenêtres du lac. Au large du salon se trouve un grand porche couvert afin que la pluie ou le soleil vous permettent de profiter de la vue dans les nouveaux meubles de patio de Lazyboy! Le deuxième pont latéral de la cuisine est pratique pour les repas et les barbecues ou peut-être simplement pour profiter du soleil de l'après-midi.

La cuisine est entièrement équipée pour ceux d'entre nous qui aiment cuisiner .... et cuire! S'il manque quelque chose, je m'assurerai que vous l'ayez! Il s'agit d'une cuisine de travail conçue pour minimiser les marches et profiter de la vue magnifique pendant que vous vous préparez.

Le chalet est situé dans un cadre très privé sans voisin de chaque côté. Il s'agit d'une grande propriété offrant une aire de feu de camp près du chalet et un sentier de découverte de la nature jusqu'au bord du rocher du lac Supérieur où vous pourrez vous asseoir et méditer sur la vie. Avec les montagnes des visons, vous pouvez littéralement emprunter les nombreux sentiers de randonnée de faciles à difficiles. L'un de mes favoris est la courte promenade à Picnic Point où un pique-nique est un must! Pendant les mois d'hiver, ces sentiers sont merveilleux pour les raquettes à neige. Pour ceux qui aiment briser la piste ... Le ski de fond X est le meilleur. Que ce soit à travers les bois ou sur le lac lorsqu'il est gelé ... un défi est toujours en attente! Highlander Cottage est une destination de rêve pour les sportifs silencieux à tout moment de l'année. Que vous soyez un lecteur, un photographe, un artiste, un écrivain, un passionné de sport silencieux ou un touriste qui aime être hors des sentiers battus, c'est pour vous. Oh par la façon dont le chalet a WIFI donc vous serez toujours ... connecté.

One of the best vacation rentals we've ever had. Our kids had room outside to run and play & I had a relaxing view and a lot of peace. Bonzi, the host is amazing and helped assuage my fears about the wildfires and smoke before we arrived and then was great with reccomendations of things to do in the area.

Lovely property with beautiful views. It is so peaceful here. Kitchen is stocked with almost anything you could possibly need for food prep. There is a trail down to the bay, with a rocky beach. Expect to drive a fair amount if going to the parks/sights in Thunder Bay. Bonzi is wonderful host!

Each year my sister and I look to a "sister trip". Five years ago we booked our first stay at Highlander Cottage and the magic and charm of the beautiful cottage, Lake Superior, Bonzi herself and the surrounding woods touched us deeply. We no longer look to any other options and return annually. Seeing the lake unfold before us as we enter is always captivating and breathtaking. And the home itself is so beautifully and thoughtfully crafted with many warm and whimsical touches definitely reflecting Bonzi's personality, pride of family and artistic talents. A welcome note and gift basket greets us each year and gives the feeling of coming home. The home itself well stocked with anything needed and the grounds of the cottage enhanced with multiple beautiful touches. Each year my sister and I pack our boots and walking sticks intent on hiking and exploring the many trails the area has to offer. Reality is we end up doing very little hiking, content to read or knit in the warmth of the sun, bird watch, explore the treasures of the gift shop and enjoy the beautiful deck and grounds. This year we may have left behind permanent imprints in the seat cushions...but it was such a welcome, restorative retreat from the outside world.I have stayed in multiple VRBOs but this listing is the best I have ever enjoyed. It is second to none-warm, inviting-not the sterile feel of some listings. And Bonzi with her melodic laugh and beautiful smile that lights her face is incredible.

North Shore getaway

This was the most beautiful home I have ever stayed in. The property was amazing, overlooking Lake Superior and with hiking trails close by. Our host was welcoming and easy to contact. I’m looking forward to staying here again sometime!

Retreat and Recharge

We have stayed in a lot of places, but nothing compares to Highlander Cottage! The views of Lake Superior are second to none and the quiet and peaceful setting is exactly what we needed. The host, Bonzi, is kind and thoughtful. She made us feel welcome as if we were family. If you are looking to slow down and get away, this is your place!

This was the most amazing cabin, absolutely beautiful,the views were breathtaking, it was cleaner than any place we have ever stayed, first class all the way and the host Bonzi was a treat to meet and talk to, gave us great tips. Absolutely amazing.

Another Perfect Stay!

Highlander Cottage is perfect - immaculate and well stocked, plenty of space and yet intimate. The view is breathtaking. The location is peaceful, but there are all kinds of things to do nearby (I know, because I read about them in the diaries while I was snuggled into a comfortable chair overlooking the lake😉). This is a fabulous property with a stunning view of Lake Superior. The property manager was excellent and provided timely communications and made our stay flawless. This was our second trip to the cottage and we are already planning our third for next year. I can't provide a higher recommendation -- the repeat visits speak for themselves.

Piece of Heaven

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this secluded piece of heaven. The hike to picnic point was absolutely fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. If coming from the states please bring groceries as it is quite a trek to get to the closest grocery store about 40-50 minutes or so. Absolutely a beautiful spot

The pictures of this house and the views shown on VRBO don’t do it justice. We sat for hours with our coffee and starred out at the lake watching as the fog would conceal and then reveal the islands that dotted the scene. Fishing in Sturgeon Bay, which is very close, never failed to yield northern Pike with only 4 casts and yes, we saw bear, eagles, and some sort of Crane. We’ll definitely be back.

A Beautiful Hidden Gem on Lake Superior

Absolutely beautiful! Pictures didn't do it justice! No small touch was missed! Bonzi has a beautiful home on the lake and is hands on with everything! She came over and met us and went over things and gave us wonderful recommendations: Kakabeka Falls Farmers Market, Niva's Diner, Finnport Finnish Shop etc! All were fabulous! We loved sitting on the deck watching the lake, especially at sunset! Everything you could possibly need was in the cottage! We can't wait to go back!

Incredible

This is the second year my sister and I stayed @ Highland Cottage and left knowing we would book again for next year. As the descriptor indicates, the cottage is truly magical. From the moment we entered, there is such a feeling of peace, calm, warmth, beauty, appreciation of those who have shaped our lives that is so incredibly special and restorative. The cottage, Bonzi with her melodic tinkle of a laugh/smile that radiates throughout and Cheekies are truly an experience like non other. Truly an incredible week.

Scenic Retreat

If you enjoy watching the sunrise while having your morning coffee (suggest bringing your own water), a comfortable outdoor lounge area for viewing the rugged shores of Lake Superior (closest LCBO is Thunder Bay so plan ahead), a well equipped kitchen for meal preparation (no local restaurants or stores so be prepared and bring groceries with you), and comfortable beds for a good night's rest (after enjoying a scenic hike up Mink Mtn), then Highlander Cottage (very clean and comfortable) should be on your list of destinations. Your host, Bonzi, is very timely in responding to email inquiries and provides a convenient arrival and departure procedure.

Thanks Nancy for such a great review! I also suggest to my guests in my rental package to bring water if they want a really good cup of coffee. My water is filtered pure but it comes from a well that is 400' deep and the taste is not pleasing to everyone. Thank you also for pointing out that the cottage is away from every day amenities that you will find in a city. It is situated on pristine Lake Superior and is surrounded by nature galore! A true escape from the norm! That is why my guests love it!

Slice of Heaven

We were looking to get away and unplug. Highlander Cottage more than delivered. From the moment we walked into see a picture perfect panoramic view, we were blown away. While we did a lot of sight seeing while we were there it was hard to drag ourselves away from the peace and beauty the Cottage and surrounding area had to offer. Having grown up in northern Wisconsin on a family resort I guess I have the hospitality business in my blood. I love being able to share Highlander Cottage as it gives others a chance to experience this enchanting area. I have owned property in the Thunder Bay, Mink Mountain area now for 17 years. I fell in love the minute I drove over the mountain and saw the view of the lake....awe struck! I have also grown to love my Canadian neighbors. We have a community here of magnificent, adventurous people who really appreciate Lake Superior and all it has to offer.

My previous property at Mink Mountain- SUNRISE COTTAGE_ was in the Vacation Rental Pool for 3 years. I had a 5 star rating and met some FABULOUS people. I am anticipating more of the same goodness with Highlander Cottage. See you soon!

I walked onto this property in the winter and I could not get over the view. Truly unbelievable ! I knew this was the place to build my Highlander Cottage so, a love affair ensued...oh and it's on Lake Superior too !

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Highlander Cottage is in a rather private area of Mink Mountain so the animals love it here. I have bear, deer, fox, ducks, eagles...on and on....visit me through out the year. So, you never know what you are going to encounter when you look out the windows to the lake or walk out the back door that faces the mountains!!!
