The east shore of Lake Almanor, along Highway 147, is home to the famous “Lake Almanor Sunset” with sweeping views of Lassen Peak, Broke-off, Harkness and Carter Mountain across the changing mood and waters of the lake. It is along the east shore of the lake, that one can literally stand and experience that place where the Cascade Mountain Range meets the Sierra Nevada Range. Driving or hiking this area can reveal the dramatic changes in geology where these two regions meet. Great location, five minutes from the Westshore, six minutes from Hamilton branch we are located almost in the middle of the East shore tons of activities. a lot of life around us, tons of restaurants in the peninsula. this area peaceful neighborhood.This

Check in was easy but the door lock didn’t work. Called the owner and he said someone would be out in am. We just kept it unlocked because waiting for someone to show up interfered with our plans. Door hinges were broken. Sheets seemed dirty. Bugs all over the bathroom. They said there was a workout room but it was a room full of dust and tools.

Disaster

Never refunded for 3 nights cancellation after 2 months prior notice!!!!! Rats and mice in kitchen. 2 bats from fireplace. No central A/C, no bedroom window screens, only 1 bathroom but advertised 2, needed maintenance lady to open front door lock, advertised Internet and Wi-Fi but there was none, bedroom door knob broken off, very noisy trains behind house everyday and night, outside BBQ very dirty and rough, inadequate parking. Will never go there again!!!! Dishonest landlord

Honestly wouldn’t recommend this property. The photos are a little misleading. No screens on half of the windows, and a front screen door that had no screen, didn’t close and was literally hanging from the frame. The photos show a carport at the top of the driveway, but when we arrived the carport was closed and locked. The driveway itself was so steep that we decided to park at the bottom and walk up to the house. All of that would have been ok, but then there was the rodent problem. There were two dead mice in the toilet upon our arrival, they’d clearly been there awhile yet hadn’t been noticed. The kitchen drawers had mice poop in them, so we didn’t feel it was safe to prepare any food in the kitchen. We reluctantly had to stay the first night, but declined to stay the second night and just cut our trip short. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I’m a little disappointed in Vrbo’s decision to list this property.

The advertisment for this house is not true. There is only 1 bathroom. Claims to sleep 10 but only has 5 beds, two which are only full sized. Most of the windows do not have screens so bugs got in and you're literally walking up a 75⁰ sloped driveway, very dangerous. There is no central air. 1 portable A/C was provided to cool the entire house that leaked water . The place needs lots of TLC, and has a pungent/sewage smell, needs a full scale cleaning, has full sized washer and dryer but they didnt have power. A gym was advertised but that was rusty dumbells and a rusty bench. Oh yeah and place all your food in the fridge there are mice possibly due to storing trash in garage and living in the so called gym. I wouldnt recommend this house for the amount he is charging. WIFI also was not functioning properly for the first 2 days of our 4 days stay then just started working. Grounds were unkept not allowing you to explore. Too many issues and it takes the owner too long to respond. I contemplated leaving but we were there for a wedding and decided to tough it out.On the plus side beds were comfortable and kitchen was fully equipped.
These are sandwich bags which were provided. We did not use them due to mouse poop.

Stating the facts

Upon entering the house, it is very cute and decorated/designed; it appeared to be clean, until entering some of the carpeted areas (stairs, hallway, bedrooms), there’s a strong smell of urine in the carpets. we also noticed that there is only one bathroom, that is not what is stated in the booking info for the house. The beds amounts in the booking listing are also incorrect. One room has the interior part of the doors doorknob broken and laying on the floor. There were dishes left inside of the dishwasher, bedding left inside of the washer that was mildew smelling, and just overall a poor job on the house cleaner it felt like, aside from the urine smelling carpet that needs to clearly be replaced. The front deck is nice, with a bbq and table, but the front door screen is broken, and flew open to hit one of our guests. We also contacted the host several times for the WiFi info and was told he would get back to us, but never did regarding the WiFi. Understandly the nearby fire had posed an evacuation for his family, but being that we were there for four days with wifi attempts left ignored, it was implied there is actually no wifi, which really sucked as I needed to complete some work stuff while on this trip. All of the tvs in the house require wifi to do anything with, which was unfortunate as we couldn’t relax with a movie or some music on them. location was great, driveway is very very steep, take precaution. Overall not what we expected at all for the price.
