A nice quiet and convenient spot

I chose this guest house as a place to stay with my pets while having work done on my home. It's quiet, convenient to local shopping and freeways, and a nice neighborhood to walk my dog. There's a private entrance which is nice. A very comfortable stay.

Comfortable and convenient

We rented this property for over a month and had a very good experience. The unit was spotless and well-equipped. We appreciated the private entrance with its own gate and tiny patio. Communication with the owner was excellent! All-in-all it was a great value in a very popular area and it was perfect for our needs.

Not as clean as stated, too many insects

It looked nice as we got there... But shower was dirty and toilet was loose from base. A lot of spider webs all over the place, above bed, in bath area. Bed frame had a lot of what seemed animal hair and fuss. At night, there are a lot of insects while you sleep you get bitten... This was the worst part of the stay. Kitchenette area is ok but not much you can do there when some of the appliances don't work---one of the hot plates. Then there's apparently a water pipe that runs through the top of the converted garage that leads into the main house. Every time the guests at the main house use shower, toilet, or washer you will hear that water pipe, it's loud. I'm a light sleeper and wake up early for work, so this was annoying. I guess if we would have been staying a week or 2 at most it would not have been such a big deal, but I definitely would not stay here again. The host communicates well, and she accommodated us with an extra freezer, which was nice and had toilet fixed, but as I let her know about the insects and the cobwebs and the sound of water pipe, her tune changed a little. She offered a cleaning lady at my expense, which was unacceptable since the room should have been thoroughly cleaned beforehand. So, in short, no I don't recommend this location.

I think this is a little unfair! Angie was happy in the daytime and then sent antagonistic emails at night time on a broad range of subjects. At first, I offered an alternative home thinking she was unhappy but she said she was enjoying this sweet guesthouse. Yes, it was a hot summer and there were many mosquitoes and ants this year but this home has no bug problem. We have an exterminator as well. I check the homes we rent to be sure they are clean and this bathroom was completely clean when Angie and her partner arrived and she emailed a confirmation, but 3 weeks later she told me it was dirty. You do need to keep cleaning a home with 2 guests. Although we leave starter cleaning supplies, for a stay of a few months, you will probably have to buy more and do some cleaning. We can also arrange additional cleaning but not at our expense. This is all explained in the arrival instructions. There was a hot plate that stopped working and when Angie told me, we were pleased to replace it the same day. When I arranged for the handyman to come and stop the slight movement in the toilet base, Angie decided to go out at the time she had requested. Honestly, we do our very best and charge competitive rates but I guess you cannot please everyone.

Clean, quiet, comfy

I spent 3 nights at the garden unit. Very quiet street with ample parking (although there are some restrictions on part of the street during the day). The unit is at the back of the lot and has a small outdoor area shared with the upstairs unit. This is essentially a large studio. It has a small closet with ample room, a kitchen alcove (which is nice because it separates the kitchen from the living area), and a nice bathroom with a large shower). The room is equipped with all the amenities including TV, DVD, a work desk, sofa, and dining table. The place was very clean when I arrived and the bed was quite comfortable. This unit is 3 blocks from Ventura Blvd., so easy access to restaurants and shops. I highly recommend not only the property but also the proprietor, Vicky. I've stayed in two of her properties for a total of 9 nights and have been very happy with not only the quality of the accommodations but also with her attention to detail. Her arrival packet includes not only the instructions for everything in the room but also recommendations for restaurants, markets, emergency numbers, etc. And, her prices are reasonable.

Great place to stay!

The property was very clean, well maintained and in a nice quiet neighborhood. The room was very clean, spacious, comfortable and decorated cute. We enjoyed our stay there. The bed was comfortable and we slept fine. The kitchen and bathroom were both well equipped with all the things anybody would need. Extras like a nice TV, books, games, puzzles and arrival snacks were also provided. We would certainly stay there again.

Comfortable and convenient

As you can see from the photos, this property is essentially a large studio. It was roomy, had all the comforts I needed, and the bed was quite comfortable. There is a kitchenette (includes a full service for 4 and a Keurig machine so you can bring your morning coffee with (although, a couple of cups are provided)), a dining area, a living area, and, of course, a place to sleep (queen bed, very comfortable, I slept very soundly). The unit is a converted garage so this is all one big room but it’s big enough to hold everything and still not be crowded. The property is located in a very quiet neighborhood and yet is just a couple of blocks off of main streets. The owner, Vicky, was very thorough in setting up the welcome package; truly the best one I’ve seen. She included locations of nearby stores, pharmacies, and favorite restaurants. She even included car rental locations. There is a nearby Starbucks. She is also responds very quickly to queries. I am planning to return for a week+ in October.
